Germantown, TennesseeClean and cozy cabin
Left on 01/07/2013 for a stay in December 2012
The cabin was very clean. It was small and perfect for my family of 5. We have three kids and the master was large enough to put an air matures on the floor next to the bed. The fireplace has gas logs and heated the cabin within minutes, which was great after a cold day outdoors. After reading previous reviews... I was terrified of the driveway. Yes, you do need a 4 wheel drive. I would not want spinning tires going up that thing. The driveway looks daunting. And it is steep. I didn't really have an issue with going up or down, but the parking spot at the top is too small for a large SUV. It takes quite a bit of maneuvering to pull in and out. As with any cabin in the hills, we had no wi-fi or phone service. This cabin is located high in the mountains, but there is not a 'view'. To our surprise, there is a pizza delivery service for this location. Also... The water smells really bad. I think this is common with any accommodation in the mountains. Just be prepared to smell an odor. I was concerned about washing clothes with smelly water. But my clothing did not stink after they were dried.

Do any of you think that a Chevy cruze would be okay with the driveway? Me and my husband are going next month and was seeing if we could take my car instead of his gas guzzling truck that doesn't have 4x4.

Greencastle, INA wonderful and cozy getaway from everyday life!!!
Left on 08/15/2012 for a stay in July 2012
My girlfriend and I came to Hero's Hideaway for a weekend to just get away. We loved the cabin and all of its features. We had great service through the rental company as well. I loved the fact that it is secluded.
Driveway is deffinately very steep. My girlfriend was not a fan of that.
Other than that it's a great place to stay. -

Gray, TNGreat cabin!
Left on 06/27/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Hero's Hideaway was a great cabin. The location was very ideal and the layout was perfect. A lot of people stated to have problems with the driveway but as long as you are in a truck and take it slow it really isn't a problem. The decor was beautiful and very respectful of the heroes who serve our country everyday. God Bless america and all those who stand to protect her!

Columbia, SCWhat a wonderful time
Left on 12/15/2011 for a stay in November 2011
I was looking for a place to bring my wife to celebrate our 20th anniversary, and when I found the Hero's Hideaway I felt it suited the occasion since I had also recently retired after 22 years in the army. When I called to reserve the home, the person I spoke with was very courteous and answered any questions I had at that time. I was told that a Four Wheel Drive vehicle was highly recommended for this place, and when we arrived, I was certainly glad I had brought one. The home was nice and cozy for two people, tucked away on the mountain in a great spot for privacy, but not too much scenery. Everything was as it was advertised, and the place was well worth it. The hot tub was ready to go, as was the rest of the house. No cell phone service was available to us, but that just kept the calls to a minimum unless we were in town. Of everything the only issue we had was with the alarm system when we arrived. I missed a number and didn't know how to clear it and the alarm went off. Otherwise, everything was great, and I would certainly consider either re-renting this home, or recommending it to a friend. Thanks.
