The overall experience was fine. If I have any suggestions to the owner it would be to replace the furniture on the upstairs porch ( which is very small by design ) because the foot rest on the chairs makes it difficult to sit comfortably. Also the tv in the great room is outdated and difficult to see. The cabin has a great view! Read more
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Appalachian Lodge. We are happy to hear that you had a good time! We appreciate your suggestions and will forward them to the owner. We hope to see you again soon.

This was one of the best cabins we have stayed in in our 18 years of using Jackson Mountain Homes! The drive up was not bad and the parking was level and good. The cabin was decorated so nice from the bird houses to the bed linens. My advice is to look carefully or you will miss some little picture or detail. We did wish the king size beds were a little softer though. And be careful on the inside stair case, a gate and riser strips would be helpful due to falls. But, we are looking forward to coming back to this cabin. You can look at the moon and stars out the window from the couch and beds on the main level and it was just wonderful. This cabin is too good to miss out on. I wish I could fold it up and take it home with me.

After spending lots of time hiking and driving through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, we have decided that the view from the family room and deck of appalachian Lodge may be the best view there is of the mountains! We had a great stay and found this home to be very spacious, clean and well appointed. Lots of privacy and relaxation after a day in the park. Highly recommended for those looking for a higher end Smoky Mountain Home to rent. If I was going to be picky, I would suggest they upgrade the TVs to HD flat screens and replace the kitchen appliances and bedding and then charge a little more per night.
Wonderfully Spacious Lodge with Plenty of Beds for everyone

The appalachian Lodge was everything that it was advertised to be. My family has been staying in chalets and lodges for ten years and this is the best one yet. The great room is simply amazing for its size and the view of the mountains. The outdoor deck was a favorite place for everyone to greet each other at the beginning of the day. The large dining table allowed all of us to eat together. The lodge was easy to get to from Gatlinburg and the driveway was easy. The kitchen was more than adequate. We would recommend the appalachian Lodge for any group of eight or more.

Our family had the opportunity to stay at the appalachian Lodge over Father's Day weekend. The cabin was beautifully decorated, the bedrooms and bathrooms large and up to date. We used the extra large hot tub and the grill was convenient to use. We loved gathering around the very large kitchen table. The view from the two decks was spectacular. Everything was wonderful! We will definitely stay again.

Wonderful Cabin, Great for Larger Groups

This review is identical to the one I left on Tripadvisor. The Tripadvisor review contains more detail:
I recently stayed at the 'Appalachian Lodge' cabin from Sunday, May 26th until Thursday, May 30th. My wife, both sets of parents and siblings decided to go in together and rent a larger cabin. Jackson Mountain Homes was able to accommodate us very well throughout.
Upon arrival the check-in process was really quick and painless. Their office is conveniently located on us 321 just east of downtown. At the office they gave me an information packet with codes to the cabin door and hot tub as well as general information.
Getting to the cabin was painless, only minutes from the office. I thought the photos online did not do our place justice. The view was fantastic. However, we also found the rest of the cabin to be exactly what we expected. We liked the fact the four bedrooms were separated by the common areas of each floor. Amenities included a hot tub, pool table (with all included cues and balls), TVs in every room (not needed on this trip), a grill, and full kitchen. Everything was extremely clean and we had no issues with our cabin.
Our cabin had a deck that consumed the entire back of the cabin on both the upper and lower levels. It offered a great place to spend a lot of time and included great seating and spectacular views at all times.
The beds were a little worn and the decor slightly dated, but that's exactly what you expect in a cabin. Judging by other rental company's photos we could've been much worse off, and I don't consider this a negative. We all still got a great night's sleep every night we were there. Our specific cabin came with 2 bedrooms with 2 queen beds and 2 with a king each. There were also two sleeper sofas, however these would really only be usable for a single night. I attribute this to sleeper sofas being poor options to begin with.
To summarize, don't hesitate to book this cabin, you won't be let down!

This home was wonderful! I planned our family vacation for a whole year and was not disappointed with anything. The size of the home was great for our family of nine with space left over. A spectacular view that you just can't get enough of and the perfect location for activities in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Just far enough away from the busy downtown but close enough to come and go as often as you like. This was the first vacation home where I did not feel like I had to clean everything before I could settle in and enjoy my stay. Very clean and all the amenities you could ask for. The kitchen was very well equipped and the dining table was large enough to seat the whole family. Beautiful furnishings throughout the whole house. Also, the front yard was great for our three grandchildren (ages 6,3 & 2) to release their energy. We had the best weather you could ask for. Temps in the high 60's and low 70's. No rain however Sandy hit the day after we left and they had snow. No one wanted to leave and we will definitely go back again! We have told all our friends and extended family this is the house to rent. Just writing this review brings back all the great memories and makes me wish I was back in the same spot. If you are planning a trip to Gatlinburg, this is the house for you and Jackson Mountain Homes was great to work with.

We have rent several cabins from JMH and this one by far was the most amazing. As soon as you entered the view took center stage. We were staying with three generations and everyone had their own space The home was clean and had everything you coould want. The post cards and guest book were a nice touch. We have found the place we will come back to for years to come.

The cabin, although situated with other homes was very secluded. We saw several bears off the deck and the view was unrivaled. We had a slight problem with the hot tub and after one phone call it was fixed promptly and courteously. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who wants the seclusion of the mountains, but the close proximity to civilization. The cabin was clean, and the Jackson Mountain Homes staff we very helpful, calling once to make sure we were satisfied and needed anything.

The cbin itself was fantastic. The beds were extremely uncomfortable. I would have to say that this is not an infant friendly cabin...unless you bring 2 baby gates. During our stay it was like 100 degrees out and the aC broke on our second day and we had to deal with it. It got up to 90 degrees inside the cabin and the worst part was not for us but for the babies. The office staff could have offered to move us to another cabin or something. They sent a maintence man out once at midnight and then the aC repair man out the next morning and the aC still did not get fixed. On their website they showed an outdoor community pool that they didn't have ...there is a pool at the community center that's only a few minutes away but you can only swim at centain times of the day...that was a real bummer! Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Appalachian Lodge. We apologize that you experienced any problems during your stay. We will have the beds assessed. It is truly unfortunate that the a/c froze during your stay. With temperatures into the 100s, and air conditioning systems working nearly non-stop to keep a home cool, it is not uncommon for a unit to freeze. We were happy to send someone to the cabin at midnight to turn the system off, so that it had time to defrost before the heat & air company could service it the follow morning. At the time the heat & air company left, the air conditioning was working and has been working since; however, with the record breaking heat wave, especially in a multi-level home with so much glass, it may not always seem as cool. We would have been happy to move you to another cabin, unfortunately, we were entirely booked during the holiday time that you visited. On our website, we do not advertise a pool for this particular cabin; however, we do mention that there is access to the Gatlinburg Community Center with billiards, bowling alley, indoor pool, basketball, racquet ball and walking track. Again, we apologize that you experienced a problem and sincerely hope that you will choose Jackson Mountain Homes in the future.

When we arrived the cabin was not ready, since we had arrived around 1-2 hours before check in time at 3. Once we did get the keys, we were given written instructions and found the cabin with very little difficulty. Check in was so-so. I was just given the packet and it was like, see ya! Don't let the door hit you in the but on the way out!! When we arrived, the entrance is deceiving because it doesn't seem to do the cabin justice, but once you open the door... Wow! You are blown way by the view! It is just such a beautiful place. The cabin is absolutely gorgeous. The only thing that could have made it better was if my little one wouldn't have caught a cold the first day, but nothing to do with the cabin!
I would stay here again, definitely. I would recommend they look into replacing a mattress or two. The kitchen could use updated appliances and the outside deck needs upkeep( wood starting to show age, dry, needs a coat of something...) priced a little high but your paying for the view is how I look at it! This cabin was wonderful. The views were visible from all areas of the home. We enjoyed the hot tub, playing pool, sitting outside enjoying the views and watching the birds. The backyard was even cute with a clean grassy area with conifers for privacy. It was close to other cabins but still felt private. We stayed in March so when the trees fill in its probably even more private. The home was clean and nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable. It felt like home. We didnt want to leave and will return! And it was close to downtown Gatlinburg. Stores and restaurants were close by but with the secluded feeling! The only problem we had is we werent able to connect to internet. But we stayed so busy with everything else it wasnt a big deal. I would recommend a list of common channels like fox, abc, nbc, local news... help finding them. The grill was great. This was a wonderful place for our honeymoon. The blow dryers worked so well that i left mine there. The staff was very friendly. Tammy and I think Michelle helped us. We arrived late and picking up the key after hours was easy. The staff called once or twice during our stay to make sure we didnt need anything. The post cards and journal are a wonderful idea. The postcards for memory or scrapbook. The journal, it was interesting reading other peoples stories. where they came from, which restaraunts or shops they enjoyed. When they stayed and the wildlife they saw while there. This was by far the best cabin we have ever stayed in. We have rented about 5 others in the area. It is big enough for a family get together. Thanks jackson Mountain Homes for a great stay. Best Cabin and best rental company!

We, a family group of nine adults, stayed here for four nights and enjoyed fully enjoyed ourselves. The view was excellent and the hot tub was well used. Beds were comfort and main room provided good seating.
Kitchen small but workable. Kitchen utensils O.K. (i.e., having a baking/ cookie sheet, oven mit, drying rack and more dish towels would have been nice).
Deck on the small size for our size group who wanted to eat outside and just be outside.
Each day and evening provided a different mountain climate to view - from smokey to bright sunny to distant lightening in the clouds. It was beautiful.
Working with the folks at Jackson Mountain Homes was great. So helpful.

My husband and I stayed here with our children and their spouses. View was fantastic, and cabin was nice. However, for the price, I think several things could have been upgraded, such as stainless steel appliances and more kitchen utensils (we read previous reviews and took our own blender). We also were expecting things like board games, etc., but there were none. The beds were not extremely comfortable and the furniture was worn, but otherwise, it was the nicest chalet we have ever stayed in. Bears came to visit the first day!

Every year we do a siblings trip in North Carolina but this year we decided to do something different and go to Gatlinburg. We had travelers from Oregon, North Carolina, and alabama. It was well worth the trip as we were not disappointed. From check-in to check-out everything was perfect. The folks at Jackson Mountain Homes were so friendly and helpful. Check-in and check-out was a breeze. The cabin was as nice as it looks on the internet. We had 9 adults and there was so much room in this cabin that we all had our own space. Loved the fact that each bedroom had it's own bathroom. I can't say enough about how beautiful it was and how pleased I was with the appalachian Lodge. It was very clean and in a great location. The view from the cabin was simply beautiful. The last night we were there we had a bear visit and he managed to get into the "bear proof" trash can. It was very exciting to watch! It was a great end to a great week-end. The only negative thing I can say was that we couldn't connect to the internet which was no big deal. The first morning we had ants in one of the bathrooms but we called the office and they sent someone right away and we didn't have that problem again. We all loved, loved, loved the appalachian Lodge and would definitely go back! This was my first experience renting with Jackson Mountain, but won't be my last. Thank you Jackson Mountain Homes for your great service.

I and all our friends throughly enjoyed our stay at appalachian Lodge.
The view is incredibly grand and the location is right by town.
We really felt secluded, and the view was definitely more than expected.
There's a convenient grocery store a few minutes away.
The Jackson Mountain Home staff were extremely friendly.
The hot tub was huge and a major selling point for me.
Some people were having trouble with the wireless internet, so I hacked into the router and forced the DNS servers to google's, and all was fine after.

This house is in a great location with a fabulous view of the mountains. There were 9 of us (parents, children, grandchildren) and there was more than enough room. We all had a great time and hated to leave. The house has nice furnishings - just needs brighter lamps and more comfortable beds. But the positive definitely outweighs the negative! I would definitely recommend this house. It's very private but just a short drive to Gatlinburg.

The view was great, however the beds were awful and we woke up with backaches every morning. The cleaning supplies were non-existant and should have been supplied by the owner. Some of us got splinters from the outside deck which needs to be restained and smoothed. The grill was so rusty and gross that we could not use it. For the large amount of money we spent on one week we were disappointed. I own a rental and know what the standards should be in this expensive price range. Read more
Thank you for your comments. Cleaning supplies are not provided as per industry standards, however, we supply a starter set of dish soap, baths soap, paper towels, coffee and toilet paper. It was easy to get to, no homes right on top of us, large enough for our family to spread out, but be together! There were enough dishes, pans, linens for all of us. Their homes are always spotless clean and decorated cute! We had a slight water heater problem one day and Jackson Mt. got it fixed pronto!
