We found the cabin to be very nice, had any supplies we wanted, and had a great stash of games and books. Parking is a little tricky for larger vehicles.

      Clean, cozy cabin

Left on 02/15/2013 for a stay in January 2013

We recently rented this great cabin, and found it wonderful! It was clean and cozy. Well stocked kitchen. Comfortable beds. Relaxing enviornment away from all the hustle and bustle in town! Located off Roaring Fork Rd, its just high enough that your not totally freaked out driving in the snow! The house is lovely. The real estate company was great. Fast and efficent. They answered questions for us Florida drivers who are leary of driving in snow. They even took the time to call the next day to be sure we found the house in good working order. Lovely home, we will stay again!

Left on 12/05/2012 for a stay in October 2012

We loved the house, the decor, and the amenities of the cabin. We did have to call the rental company to come out regarding an issue, but the were out there immediately and did their best to fix the problem. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils so that we cooked at the cabin for all of the meals. We loved the fireplace and the atmosphere in the family room. Everything about the house made it home for a week.

Left on 09/10/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We had rented Bears Den before. It is a great place to stay. It is a quiet area. It is close to shopping and grocery stores. The cabin has all the things you need to have a good meal instead of eating out. We appreciate how the owners have decorated the cabin. It is really like home. Even games to play. I would suggest this cabin to a friend. Thank you for such a nice time away from home when a home is not ours but it feels like home.

      Amazing!!

Left on 08/30/2012 for a stay in August 2012

The cabin was exactly as show on the internet. It was very, very clean and the king size beds were very comfortable. There were plenty of dishes and everything we need to cook with. The washer and dryer were great as I did all my laundry the night before we left so I didn't have to worry about it when we got home. We put garbage out one night in the bear proof bin and in the morning we woke up to a bear trying to get into our garbage. Our family had a fantastic time. My kids were very happy with the wifi and the DVD player. My husband and I really enjoyed the hot tub.

      Nice getaway in Gatlinburg

Left on 08/11/2012 for a stay in July 2012

This was a great location, away from the hustle & bustle, but close to everything. The few minor flaws were the parking (scary steep) and the bottom floor has no spare bathroom, so anyone staying on the pull-out sofa will have to go into someone else's bedroom to use the facilities. And most annoyingly, the upstairs loft is disturbed by the high-hanging light for the bottom floor, so if they wake up before you do, it's like turning on the sun. But the cabin was very clean, had games and an iPod dock with speakers, and the kitchen has every single utensil, gadget and supply possible. Plenty of room and tasteful decor. The beds were comfortable, and they had hotel-like amenities like small bars of soap, plenty of towels, and hair dryers in both bathrooms. Overall, I would consider staying again!

      Jackson Mountain Homes

      Manager

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Bear's Den. We are glad that you had a nice Gatlinburg getaway.
While most of Gatlinburg isn't flat, we find that most guests get used to the "mountain" roads after the first couple of drives to the cabin. Also, the owners have provided some great parking tips at http://www.bearsdengatlinburg.net/parking.
We provide floor plans of each cabin on our website so that guests can see the exact layout of each cabin and make an informed decision on what will work best for their party. And, of course, we are available by phone, 7 days a week, to answer any questions that you may have.
Many guests find it helpful to use the range light or the several table lamps rather than the overhead light as to not disturb anyone who may be "sleeping in" in the loft bedroom.
We appreciate your kind words and hope to see you again soon!

This is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the peaceful view from the front porch. We thoroughly enjoyed the proximity of town; yet we felt we were miles away from civilization. Everything was just perfect in the cabin and we could not ask for a nicer place to spend the week.

      Very Comfortable Cabin

Left on 04/06/2012 for a stay in March 2012

My wife and I stayed at Bear's Den cabin for four nights in late March of 2012 and had a very nice stay. The cabin was well furnished and very comfortable. It had all the conveniences one would want and the internet was very fast. It is located close enough to the main part of Gatlinburg and it was also easy to access other communities like the artist area. Although it is close to town, it is also quite private and quiet. We enjoyed the hot tub. The only issue was that the drive to the cabin and the parking was quite steep (even with the owner's recommendations of how to use it) but once we got familiar with the drive and parking, it was much less daunting. We would certainly recommend it for couples and families.

The Bear's Den was the perfect place for us...nice, clean & cozy and great location...close enough to the attractions of Gatlingburg and Pigeon Forge, but far enough away to relax and enjoy of little R&R..;.

Left on 01/26/2012 for a stay in January 2012

We came here the morning after our wedding and loved it! We have told everybody that we know about Jackson Mountain homes. The Bear's Den was nice and very clean which I was especially happy to see as we've been to some places and had to clean them when we got there. The location was the best of both worlds; it was super convenient, but once you got to the cabin there you couldn't tell that you weren't miles from civilization. On a sid note, we came in Jan. and there was no one in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge...it was great! We didn't have to wait to do anything. We had been so busy with the wedding the last thing we wanted to do was to wait in line for food, traffic, shop, etc. and we didn't at all. I would recommend anyone to come here in the winter months if possible if you're impatient. We would definitely stay here again. I have suggested that my faily rent from Jackson Mountain Homes when we come back for our family vacation, we will have to have a much bigger place to accomodate 12 people though.

We had a wonderful time with our friends who met us down here. They traveled from Mi. and us from al. The cabin was great. Very well stocked and convenient to everything. So close to downtown and the Park but felt like we were out in the country. Very peaceful except at 2:00 am when the bear woke us up trying to get into the trash the first night we were there. He really was loud! The next night we were all sitting on the porch and he came walking down the hill. He came in front of the cabin and went all the way around to the trash and checked it out and loped on up the other hill. It was so neat seeing him. We saw more bears this year than we ever have. Saw a mother and her cub along the road in the woods. It was a terrific trip and we would definitely stay here again.

We can't say enough good things about the Bear's Den and the services provided by JMH. The cabin was spotless. We were really impressed with the cleaning staff of JMH. No matter who you talk to at Jackson Mountain Homes, they are always friendly and wanting to please their customers. The Bear's Den is in a perfect location for us since it is minutes from downtown Gatlinburg but out far enough that you can get away from the bustle of town. The cabin is stocked with everything you need, plus some! The owners have done an outstanding job with decorating the cabin.

My husband and I were guests at the Bear's Den from august 7th until august 14th. Our daughter got married on august 6th and we were looking for a place to rest and relax after that event. I found the Bear's Den on vrbo.com and fell in love with the house the first time I saw it. It was exactly what we wanted: a house to relax in that was located somewhere peaceful and quiet. That's exactly what the Bear's Den was for us. It was located just about ten minutes from Gatlinburg but you could not hear the hustle and bustle of Main Street. The house was clean and for a week felt like our "home away from home." Upon arrival, the people at Jackson Mountain Homes were friendly and very accommodating. We even received a basket of goodies from the owners thanking us for choosing the Bear's Den. This vacation will always be a very special memory for us. It allowed us to rest after a very busy, but happy, time in our lives. We would love to return and stay at the Bear's Den again someday.

The Bear's Den was more than we expected. Not only could you stay in the cabin for days with all the comforts of home, it is close enough to everything you want to do in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge with out noise and congestion of being right on the strip. It is located very close to the Roaring Fork auto Loop in the Smoky Mountain National Forrest. Of all the sight seeing and hiking we did in the preserve, Roaring Fork was by far the best.

We have rented several cabins throughout the Smoky and Blue Ridge mountains, and this cabin was the best. The next time we come back to the Gatlinburg area, we will stay at the Bear's Den.

The cabin was lovely. Parking was a bit difficult, but we figured it out. The directions to get there were misleading. First off we really enjoyed our trip and our stay in Bears Den. Customer service was great online and over the phone before the trip. The only problem we had was with directions. I was under the assumption that we were going to be escorted to our cabin by one of the JMH employees and we were not. Instead we were given a hand drawn map and expected to find our way. The instructions were simple, but one of the road signs listed on the map was positioned in the wrong direction. So, we kept turning when we were not suppose to. On top of that a young lady was trying to assist us, and did not know the way herself. In the future their should be someone to guide visitors to their cabins. Some us flat landers are not use to all the crooks and turns you have in the mountains. Also, I would like to extend an apology to the young lady that was trying to assist us with directions. Overall the service was fair. The cabin was clean and well equiped.

We are so sorry you had a problem with ant during your stay. We have had the cabin treated and the ants are all gone now. We can only think there may have been an issue outside which caused the ants to come in the cabin. This is an unusual occurance for this cabin. Again, we do apologize for the inconvenience.

      Fabulous cabin!

Left on 10/14/2009 for a stay in October 2009

The cabin is in perfect condition, with many perks. The hot tub, the jacuzzi, the fireplace...all perfect! The only negative about the cabin is the parking. There are 2 options and nether are really much better than the other. The location of the cabin isn't really walking distance to town either...which wasn't a problem. It was just claimed in the description. Overall, I loved the cabin and really hope to come back in the future.

Left on 09/24/2009 for a stay in September 2009

This is the third time I have written and submitted an e-mail and evidentally you are not receiving on your end.

The visit was great - the Bear's Den was so relaxing, quiet, and peaceful.

I would really write more but a lot on my plate at the moment and I have done this two times before.

I would definitely recommend Jackson Mountain Homes even though we did not have the opportunity to meet any of the staff since we arrived late.

The cabin was wonderful - small - but great for what we needed.

careful of what the reservationist tells you

Left on 09/10/2009 for a stay in September 2009

when we booked our cabin, the person helping us stated that it included a fireplace, and blah,blah...anyway, when we arrived the fireplace wasn't working because, "the owner's don't allow the fireplaces to be used until october and the "propane" hasn't been inspected or turned on yet".....well, guess what?....the cabin was on natural gas (not propane) and the upstairs TV didn't work (all of this fell on deaf ears)...still we didn't get exactly what we paid for and didn't appreciate the song and dance we got from the "voice on the other end of the phone".......i always say, "honesty is the best policy"

We are so sorry you had a disappointing stay. We have spoken with the reservation team to be sure they mention fireplaces are only operational in the winter months as posted on our website. Even though the cabin is natural gas and not propone (a simple misnomer, not dishonestly), the fact is the gas lines are turned off at the fireplace and are not reopened until the fireplaces are inspected each year by a licensed and certifed gas fireplace technician. The last thing we would want is a dangerous situation for our guests. The other reason the fireplaces are not allowed in the warmer months is that if can cause problems when the air conditioning is on. With temperatures steadily into the 80's even in September, the fireplaces are not turned back on until October 1.

As far as the TV, we have a record that it was reported on September 7, the day of your check out and it has been repaired. Again, we are sorry you were disappointed with the cabin and hope you will give JMH another try.

      We had a blast!

Left on 08/01/2009 for a stay in July 2009

Our cabin was great it was very clean, and had everything you could ask for as far as kitchen items is concerned. I would however like to mention that parking at your cabin is extremly complicated especially if you have a very low car.... I have a celica and it did not like going up and down the hills of the mountain and everytime we parked my car scraped the ground.. I know they mention cars on the website but since we stayed in july i didnt think it would be an issue. I would also like to mention, Do not bring your favorite swim suit if you plan to get into the jucuzzi... two of our were ruined because the chemicals are so bad it turned black strings brown and grey ones pink! I couldnt stay in it for to long because the smell burned my nose. . . I understand that chlorine must be used for sanitary reason, but just a for warning dont bring your favorite swim suit. Other than those two small things i have nothing bad or negative to say about the cabin we had a blast and loved it! it was affordable and the office staff was super nice. I have recommended it to many people.

Thank you for you comments. Bear's Den is a great cabin with two different accesses. The first turn is complicated because of the incline, however, going around the circle road to the second access is much easier. Thank you again!

We enjoyed being at the home. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. THe location was very close to downtown. I think the unit could have been a little cleaner and they could have left more towels. Other than that -- it was a great experience.

Thank you for your comments regarding your stay. We will be addressing your concerns with the housekeeping staff. We leave 1 towel per person per maximum occupancy (6 in this cabin), however, if you had called our office, we would have gladly brought you more. We are sorry about that. We hope you will give JMH and Bear's Den another opportunity to meet your expectations in the future! Thank you again.

An enjoyable stay in a well equipped, clean relaxing cabin

Left on 07/09/2009 for a stay in June 2009

We chose Bears Den to be close to our grandchildren who were on vacation in one of your other cabins. We shared the cabin with our daughter and husband. We liked the cabin very much as it was very comfortable, quiet and clean. It was close to stores, restuarants and activities. The kitchen was well stocked tho we did eat most meals out. Guess if I had to say what I liked least would be parking on the hill close to the steps and even with that we had little trouble. We enjoyed our stay very much tho it was too short and would stay in Bears Den again should there only be the four of us.

We spent 7 days at the Bear's Den. It is a great place to stay. The cabin is decorated to make you feel at home away from home. It is close to shopping and is a quiet place in the Mountains. It is only a few miles from Pigeon Forge. We really love the downtown of Gatlinburg. There are many things to do there. We have stayed there 3 times. I would
recommend this cabin to all family and friends.

Our Memorial weekend stay at Bears Den

Left on 05/28/2009 for a stay in May 2009

Terrific time! We met our daugher/husband and grand daughter to celebrate birthday and graduation from college. They are from NC and grad is from MS. It was the perfect location.
Bear's Den is just beautiful, well maintained, and outfitted perfect - plus hidden to neatly in the mountains. We even had a large black bear walk by the first morning, plus wild turkeys. While sitting on the covered porch, we just watched the world roll by without a care.
This is our first of many stays at Bear's Den.

Nice cabin - needed a little cleaning

Left on 04/13/2009 for a stay in April 2008

We stayed a week in the Bear's Den. The cabin itself is in a great location and is set up really nice. There are two bedrooms with king beds (one is a loft bedroom, so privacy could be an issue, but it was just myself, my husband and our daugther, so it worked out great), and there are two full baths. The only issue we had was that we did not find the cabin as clean as would be expected. Please note that this is no reflection on the structure and set up of the cabin itself, but an error in the cleaning service provided. The floors had quite a bit of dirt as well as the area rugs. It appeared that the cabin had not been sweeped, vacuumed, and obviously, not mopped prior to our arrival. There was a huge sticky area directly in front of the refrigerator. After doing a little cleaning myself, it was a great place and we enjoyed our stay.

      Bear's Den - A Great Stay!

Left on 04/08/2009 for a stay in April 2009

We spent a weekend at the Bear's Den with our 2 kids and enjoyed our stay immensely. The kitchen is well-stocked, the cabin itself was clean and very comfortable. High marks for the comfy bedding as well! The fireplace was perfect for the cool nights and the location was easy to get to although the driveway is very steep. The decor and furnishings made you feel welcome and right at home. A larger TV would have been nice but a great selection of board games and puzzles entertained the kids. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property to anyone.

      Wonderful Cabin

Left on 04/01/2009 for a stay in March 2009

The cabin was wonderful. The location was great, you could get out of Gatlinburg easily, but were close. Everything was nice- clean, well lit, well stocked cabinets with cups, plates, bowls, ect. The couch was a bit uncomfortable, but the beds were great. We took our 2 1/2 year old with us, and the cabin was decorated nicely but without much around for him to get into. We loved it and would stay again.

Left on 03/27/2009 for a stay in February 2009

We really enjoyed our stay at Bear's Den. The cabin is very nicely decorated and very comfortable. It's location is within walking distance of downtown Gatlinburg, but far enough to have your privacy. The decor in the living room and bedrooms is very nicely done and the furnishings in the kitchen were quite adequate. The Hot Tub could have used some attention, but everything else was great. Would return to this cabin again and highly recommend for small family or couples.

Nice cabin, close to downtown Gatlinburg

Left on 03/27/2009 for a stay in March 2009

Stayed at the Bear's Den for a few nights for Spring break for a little getaway. Was my first time staying in a cabin in the Smokies and I enjoyed it. I have a 7 year old daughter so my favorite part was the board games and DVD's supplied in the cabin. We had fun playing scrabble and putting puzzles together, and she watched Black Beauty. We also enjoyed cooking on the grill, the jacuzzi, and the hot tub. I also enjoyed the small library of books, we looked at pictures of the Smokey Mountains together. Was close to shopping, stores, the park, and we visited the community center that was closeby too.
