Enjoyed our stay!
We found the cabin to be very nice, had any supplies we wanted, and had a great stash of games and books. Parking is a little tricky for larger vehicles.
Clean, cozy cabin
We recently rented this great cabin, and found it wonderful! It was clean and cozy. Well stocked kitchen. Comfortable beds. Relaxing enviornment away from all the hustle and bustle in town! Located off Roaring Fork Rd, its just high enough that your not totally freaked out driving in the snow! The house is lovely. The real estate company was great. Fast and efficent. They answered questions for us Florida drivers who are leary of driving in snow. They even took the time to call the next day to be sure we found the house in good working order. Lovely home, we will stay again!

A Week of Three Seasons
We loved the house, the decor, and the amenities of the cabin. We did have to call the rental company to come out regarding an issue, but the were out there immediately and did their best to fix the problem. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils so that we cooked at the cabin for all of the meals. We loved the fireplace and the atmosphere in the family room. Everything about the house made it home for a week.
vacation at Bears Den
We had rented Bears Den before. It is a great place to stay. It is a quiet area. It is close to shopping and grocery stores. The cabin has all the things you need to have a good meal instead of eating out. We appreciate how the owners have decorated the cabin. It is really like home. Even games to play. I would suggest this cabin to a friend. Thank you for such a nice time away from home when a home is not ours but it feels like home.
The cabin was exactly as show on the internet. It was very, very clean and the king size beds were very comfortable. There were plenty of dishes and everything we need to cook with. The washer and dryer were great as I did all my laundry the night before we left so I didn't have to worry about it when we got home. We put garbage out one night in the bear proof bin and in the morning we woke up to a bear trying to get into our garbage. Our family had a fantastic time. My kids were very happy with the wifi and the DVD player. My husband and I really enjoyed the hot tub.
Nice getaway in Gatlinburg
This was a great location, away from the hustle & bustle, but close to everything. The few minor flaws were the parking (scary steep) and the bottom floor has no spare bathroom, so anyone staying on the pull-out sofa will have to go into someone else's bedroom to use the facilities. And most annoyingly, the upstairs loft is disturbed by the high-hanging light for the bottom floor, so if they wake up before you do, it's like turning on the sun. But the cabin was very clean, had games and an iPod dock with speakers, and the kitchen has every single utensil, gadget and supply possible. Plenty of room and tasteful decor. The beds were comfortable, and they had hotel-like amenities like small bars of soap, plenty of towels, and hair dryers in both bathrooms. Overall, I would consider staying again!
Response from Jackson Mountain Homes - 08/13/2012
Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Bear's Den. We are glad that you had a nice Gatlinburg getaway.
While most of Gatlinburg isn't flat, we find that most guests get used to the "mountain" roads after the first couple of drives to the cabin. Also, the owners have provided some great parking tips at http://www.bearsdengatlinburg.net/parking.
We provide floor plans of each cabin on our website so that guests can see the exact layout of each cabin and make an informed decision on what will work best for their party. And, of course, we are available by phone, 7 days a week, to answer any questions that you may have.
Many guests find it helpful to use the range light or the several table lamps rather than the overhead light as to not disturb anyone who may be "sleeping in" in the loft bedroom.
We appreciate your kind words and hope to see you again soon!
This is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the peaceful view from the front porch. We thoroughly enjoyed the proximity of town; yet we felt we were miles away from civilization. Everything was just perfect in the cabin and we could not ask for a nicer place to spend the week.
We had a wonderful time!
All aspects were great! Good location near Gatlinburg, and very well equipped!
Very Comfortable Cabin
My wife and I stayed at Bear's Den cabin for four nights in late March of 2012 and had a very nice stay. The cabin was well furnished and very comfortable. It had all the conveniences one would want and the internet was very fast. It is located close enough to the main part of Gatlinburg and it was also easy to access other communities like the artist area. Although it is close to town, it is also quite private and quiet. We enjoyed the hot tub. The only issue was that the drive to the cabin and the parking was quite steep (even with the owner's recommendations of how to use it) but once we got familiar with the drive and parking, it was much less daunting. We would certainly recommend it for couples and families.
This cabin helped make our vacation perfect.
Very nice. Very clean. Good location. Everything we needed.
Mountain Spring Break
Great stay in Gatlingburg...we have spent most of our Spring Breaks on the beaches of the Gulf Coast, but decided to head north this year and the experience was absolutely fantastic. The Bear's Den was the perfect place for us...nice, clean & cozy and great location...close enough to the attractions of Gatlingburg and Pigeon Forge, but far enough away to relax and enjoy of little R&R..;.
Happy to be MARRIED!
Exactly what we needed!
We came here the morning after our wedding and loved it! We have told everybody that we know about Jackson Mountain homes. The Bear's Den was nice and very clean which I was especially happy to see as we've been to some places and had to clean them when we got there. The location was the best of both worlds; it was super convenient, but once you got to the cabin there you couldn't tell that you weren't miles from civilization. On a sid note, we came in Jan. and there was no one in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge...it was great! We didn't have to wait to do anything. We had been so busy with the wedding the last thing we wanted to do was to wait in line for food, traffic, shop, etc. and we didn't at all. I would recommend anyone to come here in the winter months if possible if you're impatient. We would definitely stay here again. I have suggested that my faily rent from Jackson Mountain Homes when we come back for our family vacation, we will have to have a much bigger place to accomodate 12 people though.
Could not of asked for a better cabin. Everything was perfect, great family getaway. You might want something more secluded for a romantic getaway, but this would be fine as well.
We had a wonderful time with our friends who met us down here. They traveled from Mi. and us from al. The cabin was great. Very well stocked and convenient to everything. So close to downtown and the Park but felt like we were out in the country. Very peaceful except at 2:00 am when the bear woke us up trying to get into the trash the first night we were there. He really was loud! The next night we were all sitting on the porch and he came walking down the hill. He came in front of the cabin and went all the way around to the trash and checked it out and loped on up the other hill. It was so neat seeing him. We saw more bears this year than we ever have. Saw a mother and her cub along the road in the woods. It was a terrific trip and we would definitely stay here again.

Outstanding Cabin, Location, and Service
We can't say enough good things about the Bear's Den and the services provided by JMH. The cabin was spotless. We were really impressed with the cleaning staff of JMH. No matter who you talk to at Jackson Mountain Homes, they are always friendly and wanting to please their customers. The Bear's Den is in a perfect location for us since it is minutes from downtown Gatlinburg but out far enough that you can get away from the bustle of town. The cabin is stocked with everything you need, plus some! The owners have done an outstanding job with decorating the cabin.
Attractive cabin. Well equipped. Good internet. Fun hot tub. Parking difficult. Noisy because of the openness.

Relaxing, Refreshing, Rejeuvenating!
My husband and I were guests at the Bear's Den from august 7th until august 14th. Our daughter got married on august 6th and we were looking for a place to rest and relax after that event. I found the Bear's Den on vrbo.com and fell in love with the house the first time I saw it. It was exactly what we wanted: a house to relax in that was located somewhere peaceful and quiet. That's exactly what the Bear's Den was for us. It was located just about ten minutes from Gatlinburg but you could not hear the hustle and bustle of Main Street. The house was clean and for a week felt like our "home away from home." Upon arrival, the people at Jackson Mountain Homes were friendly and very accommodating. We even received a basket of goodies from the owners thanking us for choosing the Bear's Den. This vacation will always be a very special memory for us. It allowed us to rest after a very busy, but happy, time in our lives. We would love to return and stay at the Bear's Den again someday.

Fabulous hideaway in the mountains
Stayed for 3 nights at the cabin. The whole experience was excellent. we had plenty of room; the bedrooms and living space was well equipped and extremely comfortable. We had a great time in the spa on the deck, it was lovely and warm and very relaxing.

Relaxed in the Heart of the Smoky Mountains
The Bear's Den was more than we expected. Not only could you stay in the cabin for days with all the comforts of home, it is close enough to everything you want to do in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge with out noise and congestion of being right on the strip. It is located very close to the Roaring Fork auto Loop in the Smoky Mountain National Forrest. Of all the sight seeing and hiking we did in the preserve, Roaring Fork was by far the best.
We have rented several cabins throughout the Smoky and Blue Ridge mountains, and this cabin was the best. The next time we come back to the Gatlinburg area, we will stay at the Bear's Den.

Enjoy our stay. This is the second time at Bear's Den. Will return!

It felt like home!
The cabin was very comfortable and the girls loved it. We saw a bear crossing the road in front of the cabin one evening, which was great. If I had not slammed the screen door trying to get to the camera it might not have run away so fast:( Next time we hope to stay a whole week.
A Nice Cabin
The cabin was lovely. Parking was a bit difficult, but we figured it out. The directions to get there were misleading. Instead of saying to go around whatever, just say when at the intersection of -- and --(I don't remember the names of the two roads), the Bear's Den is past the intersection on your right.
Mel and kids
easygoing and relaxing
The cabin was so convenient to Gatlinburg but far enough out to be peaceful. The kids had a ball and so did we. The Bears Den was great and so well equipped with anything we may even think of needing .
Great Place, Great Price
The cabin was clean and the staff from Jackson Mountain Homes were very friendly.
Business Traveler from CO
Great home near the main street
Very comfortable home that felt very private, but was very close to restaurants and the convention center. As a business traveler, the home had all the amenities of a hotel, including wireless internet, with the added comfort of plenty of space, a great covered front porch, and a hot tub.

Incredible vacation at the Bear's Den!
The cabin was our home away from home. It was so comfortable and cozy. The kitchen was set up nicely for us to use we cooked every meal there. The cabin was so clean and nicely supplied with what we would need for the weekend. Check-in/out was very simple. We will be staying with Jackson Mountain Homes again!!! The Bear's Den was absolutely wonderful!!! Thanks so much JMH.
Great weekend getaway in Gatlinburg!
We enjoyed Bear's Den very much. The cabin was tastefully decorated. We particularly enjoyed the fireplace.
The Bear's Den was very nice.
The Bear's Den was very nice. Has a great look inside and out. I'd like to see retractable shades put up around the hot tub to provide more privacy. Overall I was very happy with the cabin. It's complete with most everything you'd need. Just bring food, friends and have fun.
What a wonderful property!! We had a wonderful time!! Clean, comfortable, kitchen well stocked!! Even decorated for Christmas. We hope to stay here again next year!!!
Our stay at Bears Den
Very nice and clean. All the essentials were included. The only complaint was that the sofa sleeper was hard.
We were very pleased with Bear's Den. It was our 1st trip to Gatlinburg, but it was very nice. The cabin had all the things we needed. Directions for parking were very helpful! The other great thing was it was very peaceful even though we were just minutes from downtown. When we go back I am sure we will stay there again.
My sister, mother and I enjoyed the entire experience. Our mother use to come with our Father to the smokies at least 2 x year for 30 years...so great memories for her. Beautiful cabin!

Best place we ever stayed in the Smokies!
Jmh is a friendly rental company that it is a pleasure to do business with. They truly want to please. The Bear's Den is a cozy, beautifully decorated cabin that is close to area attractions and the Gsmnp. The kitchen is well supplied with everything you need. The owners have thought of every detail to make their cabin feel like "home away from home." We wouldn't think of renting any other cabin!!!
very peaseful clean and spaceous
only problem we had was having a good in and out for our motorcycles. other than that it was perfect

First trip to Gatlinburg
The cabin was cute and comfortable. We had a wonderful stay. My only complaints were that the fridge didn't keep our food cold. We ended putting almost everything in the freezer. The sign on the fridge says not to turn the temperature down but after 12 hours cooling down, fridge was still at 68 degrees. We turned the fridge down anyway, and it was fine after that.
Response from Jackson Mountain Homes - 06/04/2010
Thank you for your comments. We are happy to hear that you had a wonderful stay and apologize if you experienced any inconvenience. We will have our maintenance department check the refrigerator. The next time you visit, if you have any problems, please contact the office and we will send someone to the cabin right away. We hope to see you again soon!
Cozy in a Bear's Den
We stayed in the Bear's Den for our 11th Wedding Anniversary in early March. The cabin was great! We have always booked with Jackson Mountain. The staff is always friendly and the cabins are always clean. This cabin was everything we wanted and more. The fireplace was wonderful for the chilly mornings and nights and we really enjoyed the hot tub on the porch. We also loved that there was a great selection of books and family games in the cabin to use and much much more! The cabin is in a great location in that it is just outside of town (Gatlinburg). Thanks Jackson Mountain for another enjoyable stay!
First off we really enjoyed our trip and our stay in Bears Den. Customer service was great online and over the phone before the trip. The only problem we had was with directions. I was under the assumption that we were going to be escorted to our cabin by one of the JMH employees and we were not. Instead we were given a hand drawn map and expected to find our way. The instructions were simple, but one of the road signs listed on the map was positioned in the wrong direction. So, we kept turning when we were not suppose to. On top of that a young lady was trying to assist us, and did not know the way herself. In the future their should be someone to guide visitors to their cabins. Some us flat landers are not use to all the crooks and turns you have in the mountains. Also, I would like to extend an apology to the young lady that was trying to assist us with directions. Overall the service was fair. The cabin was clean and well equiped.
Great cozy place to stay and relax! The cabin had all that you needed..(even all the kitchen utensils and dishware)! Very close to town and convenient. We do wish the view of the mountains were a little better.
Over-all a great little get-away!!! I would highly reccomend this cabin to friends and family.

home away from home
I couldn't imagine any other way to experience the Smokies. Bear's Den was an easy drive to the national park entrance and downtown Gatlinburg. We loved coming back to Bear's den after a day of hiking to cook dinner (every kitchen utensil you might need), sip wine in front of the fireplace, and take a dip in the jacuzzi. The satellite TV and WiFi were also great because we didn't miss our favorite TV shows and we stayed connected to the world. Highly recommended.

THERE WAS 4 OF US WHO STAYED IN YOUR CABIN IN OCTOBER VERY COZY CABIN. DOWNSIDE WHEN WE WENT IN THE KITCHEN IT WAS COVERED WITH ANTS. ANTS WERE ON THE DISHES AND GLASSES AND UTENSILS.ONE OF OUR FRIENDS WANTED TO GO GET A HOTEL.. WE CALLED JACKSON RENTAL WHO CAME AND SPRAYED...DIDNT WORK....WE HAD ANTS ALL 3 DAYS. MAYBE NEXT YEAR HOTEL WHICH IS SAD....
Response from Jackson Mountain Homes - 10/30/2009
We are so sorry you had a problem with ant during your stay. We have had the cabin treated and the ants are all gone now. We can only think there may have been an issue outside which caused the ants to come in the cabin. This is an unusual occurance for this cabin. Again, we do apologize for the inconvenience.
We had a wonderful time at the cabin. The location was perfect, and the accomodations were great. The cabin was clean, well maintained, and well stocked. We would definitely recommend this cabin to other people.
The cabin is in perfect condition, with many perks. The hot tub, the jacuzzi, the fireplace...all perfect! The only negative about the cabin is the parking. There are 2 options and nether are really much better than the other. The location of the cabin isn't really walking distance to town either...which wasn't a problem. It was just claimed in the description. Overall, I loved the cabin and really hope to come back in the future.
This is the third time I have written and submitted an e-mail and evidentally you are not receiving on your end.
The visit was great - the Bear's Den was so relaxing, quiet, and peaceful.
I would really write more but a lot on my plate at the moment and I have done this two times before.
I would definitely recommend Jackson Mountain Homes even though we did not have the opportunity to meet any of the staff since we arrived late.
The cabin was wonderful - small - but great for what we needed.

careful of what the reservationist tells you
when we booked our cabin, the person helping us stated that it included a fireplace, and blah,blah...anyway, when we arrived the fireplace wasn't working because, "the owner's don't allow the fireplaces to be used until october and the "propane" hasn't been inspected or turned on yet".....well, guess what?....the cabin was on natural gas (not propane) and the upstairs TV didn't work (all of this fell on deaf ears)...still we didn't get exactly what we paid for and didn't appreciate the song and dance we got from the "voice on the other end of the phone".......i always say, "honesty is the best policy"
Response from Jackson Mountain Homes - 09/11/2009
We are so sorry you had a disappointing stay. We have spoken with the reservation team to be sure they mention fireplaces are only operational in the winter months as posted on our website. Even though the cabin is natural gas and not propone (a simple misnomer, not dishonestly), the fact is the gas lines are turned off at the fireplace and are not reopened until the fireplaces are inspected each year by a licensed and certifed gas fireplace technician. The last thing we would want is a dangerous situation for our guests. The other reason the fireplaces are not allowed in the warmer months is that if can cause problems when the air conditioning is on. With temperatures steadily into the 80's even in September, the fireplaces are not turned back on until October 1.
As far as the TV, we have a record that it was reported on September 7, the day of your check out and it has been repaired. Again, we are sorry you were disappointed with the cabin and hope you will give JMH another try.
We had a blast!
Our cabin was great it was very clean, and had everything you could ask for as far as kitchen items is concerned. I would however like to mention that parking at your cabin is extremly complicated especially if you have a very low car.... I have a celica and it did not like going up and down the hills of the mountain and everytime we parked my car scraped the ground.. I know they mention cars on the website but since we stayed in july i didnt think it would be an issue. I would also like to mention, Do not bring your favorite swim suit if you plan to get into the jucuzzi... two of our were ruined because the chemicals are so bad it turned black strings brown and grey ones pink! I couldnt stay in it for to long because the smell burned my nose. . . I understand that chlorine must be used for sanitary reason, but just a for warning dont bring your favorite swim suit. Other than those two small things i have nothing bad or negative to say about the cabin we had a blast and loved it! it was affordable and the office staff was super nice. I have recommended it to many people.
Response from Jackson Mountain Homes - 08/04/2009
Thank you for you comments. Bear's Den is a great cabin with two different accesses. The first turn is complicated because of the incline, however, going around the circle road to the second access is much easier. Thank you again!
Family of Four
Great Time in the Smokies
We enjoyed being at the home. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. THe location was very close to downtown. I think the unit could have been a little cleaner and they could have left more towels. Other than that -- it was a great experience.
Response from Jackson Mountain Homes - 07/18/2009
Thank you for your comments regarding your stay. We will be addressing your concerns with the housekeeping staff. We leave 1 towel per person per maximum occupancy (6 in this cabin), however, if you had called our office, we would have gladly brought you more. We are sorry about that. We hope you will give JMH and Bear's Den another opportunity to meet your expectations in the future! Thank you again.

An enjoyable stay in a well equipped, clean relaxing cabin
We chose Bears Den to be close to our grandchildren who were on vacation in one of your other cabins. We shared the cabin with our daughter and husband. We liked the cabin very much as it was very comfortable, quiet and clean. It was close to stores, restuarants and activities. The kitchen was well stocked tho we did eat most meals out. Guess if I had to say what I liked least would be parking on the hill close to the steps and even with that we had little trouble. We enjoyed our stay very much tho it was too short and would stay in Bears Den again should there only be the four of us.
fantastic get away
We spent 7 days at the Bear's Den. It is a great place to stay. The cabin is decorated to make you feel at home away from home. It is close to shopping and is a quiet place in the Mountains. It is only a few miles from Pigeon Forge. We really love the downtown of Gatlinburg. There are many things to do there. We have stayed there 3 times. I would
recommend this cabin to all family and friends.

Our Memorial weekend stay at Bears Den
Terrific time! We met our daugher/husband and grand daughter to celebrate birthday and graduation from college. They are from NC and grad is from MS. It was the perfect location.
Bear's Den is just beautiful, well maintained, and outfitted perfect - plus hidden to neatly in the mountains. We even had a large black bear walk by the first morning, plus wild turkeys. While sitting on the covered porch, we just watched the world roll by without a care.
This is our first of many stays at Bear's Den.
Nice cabin - needed a little cleaning
We stayed a week in the Bear's Den. The cabin itself is in a great location and is set up really nice. There are two bedrooms with king beds (one is a loft bedroom, so privacy could be an issue, but it was just myself, my husband and our daugther, so it worked out great), and there are two full baths. The only issue we had was that we did not find the cabin as clean as would be expected. Please note that this is no reflection on the structure and set up of the cabin itself, but an error in the cleaning service provided. The floors had quite a bit of dirt as well as the area rugs. It appeared that the cabin had not been sweeped, vacuumed, and obviously, not mopped prior to our arrival. There was a huge sticky area directly in front of the refrigerator. After doing a little cleaning myself, it was a great place and we enjoyed our stay.
Response from Jackson Mountain Homes - 05/08/2009
Thank you for taking the time to review Bear's Den and our company. We wanted to let you know that since your stay last year, we initiated a housekeeping program and have had great success in continued training and quality cleanings. Thanks again! And we look forward to your future stays in Bear's Den!
Bear's Den - A Great Stay!
We spent a weekend at the Bear's Den with our 2 kids and enjoyed our stay immensely. The kitchen is well-stocked, the cabin itself was clean and very comfortable. High marks for the comfy bedding as well! The fireplace was perfect for the cool nights and the location was easy to get to although the driveway is very steep. The decor and furnishings made you feel welcome and right at home. A larger TV would have been nice but a great selection of board games and puzzles entertained the kids. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property to anyone.
The cabin was wonderful. The location was great, you could get out of Gatlinburg easily, but were close. Everything was nice- clean, well lit, well stocked cabinets with cups, plates, bowls, ect. The couch was a bit uncomfortable, but the beds were great. We took our 2 1/2 year old with us, and the cabin was decorated nicely but without much around for him to get into. We loved it and would stay again.
Comfortable & Convienient
We really enjoyed our stay at Bear's Den. The cabin is very nicely decorated and very comfortable. It's location is within walking distance of downtown Gatlinburg, but far enough to have your privacy. The decor in the living room and bedrooms is very nicely done and the furnishings in the kitchen were quite adequate. The Hot Tub could have used some attention, but everything else was great. Would return to this cabin again and highly recommend for small family or couples.
Nice cabin, close to downtown Gatlinburg
Stayed at the Bear's Den for a few nights for Spring break for a little getaway. Was my first time staying in a cabin in the Smokies and I enjoyed it. I have a 7 year old daughter so my favorite part was the board games and DVD's supplied in the cabin. We had fun playing scrabble and putting puzzles together, and she watched Black Beauty. We also enjoyed cooking on the grill, the jacuzzi, and the hot tub. I also enjoyed the small library of books, we looked at pictures of the Smokey Mountains together. Was close to shopping, stores, the park, and we visited the community center that was closeby too.
beautifully decorated place
BEautifully decorated place. Owners take pride in this cabin! It has everything you need including games for the kids, videos, tv's. Thank you for having us as our guest.
