      Terrific time!

Left on 05/07/2013 for a stay in April 2013

This was our 4th time to Gatlinburg using JMH. They are so great to work with. We very much enjoyed our stay at Great Escape. The cabin was a perfect fit for two couples. The hot tub was really nice in the evening. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook most of our meals in. The location was really great. We had never visited the arts and Craft area. We also enjoyed the gym and track at the center. The beds were super comfortable.
We hope to use Great Escape again!

My wife and I brought our 2 year son here for his first visit, but we've stayed here a few times before. Our favorite cabin to stay in. May not be in the most scenic area, but the cabin more than makes up for it.

The people at Jackson Mountain Rentals are always friendly and helpful. This cabin has everything you could want in a get away. Even though the weather wasn't great during our stay we were able to use the hot tub and pool table daily. The relaxing atmosphere of the cabin was the best part of the trip.

A 3-day mini vacation that created a lifetime of memories...

Left on 04/04/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Our son has been accepted into the United States air Force and will be leaving for basic training next week. We are so proud of him and I ask that you please pray for Josh. Beforehand, we had decided as a family unit to spend some quality time together because we know that when we turn Josh over to Uncle Sam that life as we know it will never be the same. He will not live a few miles away and visit almost daily, he will not be there to call upon when needed and our little boy will soon become a military man. So this getaway was truly a 'Great Escape' and I highly recommend this cabin as the one to escape to...From the mystic mountain vista views to the newly decorated interior with lavish furnishings and high-end appliances, I was content to just curl up on the soft leather sofa or recliner and be mesmerized by the dancing flames in the fireplace, watch my regular TV shows on cable television or select from the various movie channels and simply enjoy the peace and coziness of my surroundings. I didn't even mind babysitting most of the time! The hot tub on the deck made me forget that it was wintertime and 32 degrees outside the tub. The game room was so very entertaining and provided a balcony in which to view the beauty and expansion of the downstairs and the craftsmanship that went into the building of this home. The decorator has to be commended also for the befitting objects that made me feel at home in the Smokey's. Thank you to the staff of Jackson Mountain Homes for your hospitality and we will be back... hopefully sooner rather than later.

Our stay at the Great Escape

Left on 02/28/2013 for a stay in February 2013

The Great Escape is a great cabin; clean, in great condition, and in a good location as well. My wife and I were extremely happy with not only the cabin itself, but the JMH staff as well. They're a generous group of people that took care of us from check-in to check-out. They even called us a few hours after we had arrived to make sure everything was ok and in working order. The great thing about the JMH staff is that they're not all business, they sincerely do appreciate your business and go out of their way to make it an enjoyable stay as well as making sure you'll remain a repeat customer. We would do this trip over again-- a thousand times!

Lovely decorated cabin that felt like home. Both bedrooms have king size beds and either can be used as the main bedroom. Kids had the bedroom upstairs to have better access to pool table. A large driveway and fairly level driveway is a plus. Easy to get to location in arts & Crafts area.

      Private and convenient

Left on 08/20/2012 for a stay in August 2012

My family (two adults and two children ages 6 and 8) were extremely pleased with our stay at the Great Escape. It's even better than the pictures. It is located among other cabins in the area but you would never know it. It's is very private, built on a wood lot with trees on 3.5 sides. It's also close to downtown Gatlinburg (about a 8 minute drive) and easy to find. It's conveniently located near to two grocery stores and multiple restaurants, walking distance to the community center (that has a fitness center, swimming pool and bowling) and on the Gatlinburg Trolley route (stop is at the end of the street on Orge; look for the no parking sign with the trolley picture). And if you want to get to the Smoky Mountain National Park it is approximately a 15 minute drive to the visitor's center (use River Road to bypass the downtown area).

Being in Gatlinburg rather than Pigeon Forge, you are away from the commotion and busyness that comes with it but close enough to enjoy the activities and shopping that come with both.

With respect to the accommodations, I was quite surprised to find the cabin very well built, extremely clean and well decorated. The fixtures, appliances and electronics used high end. I've stayed in several rental properties previously and I am not used to this. The kitchen was well equipped with dishes and utensils (even had a cheese grater and hand mixer).

Jackson Mountain Homes made the stay very easy and enjoyable for our family for making sure the check-in and check-out process was quick, keeping us well informed, ensuring the cabin was very clean with lots of towels and provided the necessities to get you through the first few days (dish towels, soap, detergent, etc)

If you choose the Great Escape you will not be disappointed! If you have a family, make sure you go to the aquarium, very good! And plan to have a breakfast at the Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg.

Jackson Mountain homes is a wonderful company! The Cabin was amazing and perfect for our family of 4! We had everything we needed and more. My only complaint is I wish we had spent more time cooking and having fun in our cabin than spending lots of money on subpar dining and attractions! There is so much to see and do within driving distance that is not touristy so don't get sucked into the tourist trap! And Dont go in July! It is the busiest season!

We have stayed with JMH the past several years but the entire family decided this was the best cabin yet! My daughter loves to cook and the cabin had all the items she needed to make some great meals during our stay. The cabin was very clean, great location and very relaxing. We actually found that we spent most of our time sitting out on the front porch in the rockers or at the outdoor table. Hated to leave and can't wait to come back!!!

What a Great Escape It Was!!

Left on 06/28/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Let me start out by saying, wow, the pictures just does not do this home justice. We were so pleased with this rental!! The parking spaces was nice and large. The front porch was so inviting and cozy that when we first arrived (2am) that we just sat there for about 20 minutes before even going inside. The porch swing and rocking chairs were awesome. We were also simply amazed at the wrap around porch. We saw it in the pictures before renting but they didn't do it justice. The outside furniture by the hot tub was great also. Nice, sturdy chairs and tables, unlike some other equipment in some homes we rented in the past. The hot tub was spacious and clean and worked like a charm after those long days of shopping and hiking in the mountains. The grill was nice but I would have preferred a charcoal grill. Once we walked inside we again were simply star struck at the detail of the home and how it was decorated. It had nice furnishings and everything you needed plus some to enjoy a nice Great Escape. All the ammenities were so awesome and were way more than in some other homes I've rented in the past. This trip was so very special to me as it was the first time taking my boys. But most of all my very good friend and her daughter went also. They had the upstairs Master Suite. She could not say enough good things about the Master Suite and attached Master Bath. She stated that her bed was so comfortable that she never wanted to get up in the mornings. Her and her daughter rather enjoyed the jacuzzi tub as they had bubble baths. The Master Suite is extremely spacious and so inviting and comfortable that it makes you not want to leave. The downstairs bedroom was slightly smaller but spacious as well with a nice King size bed that was also extremely comfortable. I fell asleep right away. It also had an attached bathroom. This bath was a nice size but a little bit small but worked fine.

Very Impressed Awesome view from front porch They were sad that we had to leave Having fun at the Aquarium Pool table was sweet Jackson said Relaxing in Ripley's Aquarium Riding the chair lift Nice View from Chair Lift Awesome time shopping Doing a little rock climbing

      disappointing

Left on 03/05/2012 for a stay in January 2012

We stayed at the great escape for 7 nights. First off it doesn't look like the picture above. Those pictures must have been taken when house was first built. The inside looks alot smaller than in the picture as well. The master bedroom was upstairs but the better bed was down stairs. The bed upstairs was very thin (not very high maybe 10 inches) and when I left I had 3 raw places on my back?? This is the 4th time we stayed with Jackson Mountain never disappointed until this stay. Wish we had never went would have said something to them but we had already unpacked and thought we'd make the most of it. We thought 40 good reviews was ok to go with, boy were we wrong.

We stayed here for a brief visit to reconnect and write. The cabin was the ideal size for one or two couples and beautifully maintained, with a large hot tub, updated furnishings and a charming setting. It was fully stocked, extremely clean, and the staff at JMH were accommodating at every step. We arrived very late so had a bit of difficulty finding the right access road in dark/foggy conditions using the provided directions, but our GPS found the road for us and we were on our way quickly. The cabin was warm, friendly and luxurious - the perfect location for a Great Escape. We plan on visiting again, and will absolutely use JMH.

      The Great Escape

Left on 08/26/2011 for a stay in August 2011

The reason we took this vacation and choose this rental was because we won a contest with JMH. The cabin itself was wonderful.. We enjoyed our time at the cabin. There was a few places in the cabin that was dirty. Like the jet tub in the upstairs bathroom was dirty and the kitchen was dirty as well. And one of the wooden pieces on the windows was falling off.. As far as everything else JMH had offered us in the contest was a bust. We were suppose to get 4 zip line tickets and 4 white water rafting tickets. We were unable to use any of them cause we were told the river was to "dry" to raft and if they didn't do rafting then they didn't open the zip line. So they offered to exchange the tickets for next season. But when we went to exchange them their office was closed and so we called them when we got home and come to find out the tickets they gave us was for a completely different rafting and zipline company. So now the tickets are useless... Jmh was suppose to fix it and email me back in 2 days and well its been almost 3 weeks and I still haven't heard from them... All I can say is that if they don't honor their contests then I'd hate to see what happens if you actually pay to rent one of their cabins and you have a problem with it!! Again the cabin was fairly good over all but the entire experiance with JMH was awful!!!

      Jackson Mountain Homes

      Manager

We are very sorry to find out that you were unable to go rafting or zipling and we will absolutely get you tickets to use next year. We did not know that they were not running as many trips due to the weather and had no idea they closed the zip line when the rafting was closed. We are a little confused by the fact that you called a different rafting company. We do have tickets from several different companies, but the contest you won was from Rafting in the Smokies. We apologize if there was any confusion or if you were given the wrong tickets. We will contact the rafting company immediately and get you tickets for next season. As soon as we receive them we will mail to you.

Also, I am sorry to hear the cleaning was not up to par. I can assure you that Jackson Mountain Homes has a high standard of cleaning and we will be reviewing this with the cleaning contract ASAP.

I hope that you will consider giving us another try in the future.

Left on 06/24/2011 for a stay in June 2011

I spent hours online researching cabins and came across countless positive reviews on Jackson Mountain Homes. They did not disappoint-in their personnel or in their cabin.

All three individuals I spoke to were extremely helpful, friendly and accomodating-even when I realized that we would be arriving late to our cabin on the day we left. They made sure we had all our information ( directions, keys, etc...) in a secure, locked location that was easy to access.

The cabin itself appeared almost exactly as it did in photos and was very clean with nice, modern amenities and accessories. The mountain view from the front porch was beautiful! I felt very comfortable from the moment I walked in.They even provided start up products like dishwashing liquid, dishwasher cleaner and laundry detergent so that virtually everything you needed or may have forgotten was already there. If I had any minor complaints it was that I could not locate our outside trash can- so had to take my excess trash to their office bins which was no big deal. It was on the way to everything. Also, the outdoor rugs at each door could stand to be replaced. But, other than those very minor issues, everything was fantastic and as expected.

Will definitely book with them again when we return to the area.

The cabin was very nice, the location was great. We were close to everything but were still able to be in a private area. Our stay was enjoyable, I found that it could have been a little cleaner. We were not informed that the trash cans were under the deck at the back side of the house. We took our trash to the office to dispose of. This was very inconvenient, we had to keep our trash in the cabin because of the animals till we could throw it out. We didn't use the bed downstairs but did use the upstairs and found that it needs to be replaced badly, you could feel the metal. Other than this our stay was quite pleasant.

      Relaxing Respite from Hiking

Left on 04/01/2011 for a stay in March 2011

My wife and I rented Eagle's View with other family members from JMH several years ago and were so extremely pleased with our rental that we knew, when planning this trip with another couple, there was no other place company from whom we were willing to rent. We chose Great Escape because of its smaller size, open floor plan, and all of the amenities we've come to love from JMH. The cabin was in pristine condition when we arrived, with updated furniture, appliances and entertainment features. The kitchen was stocked with all the basic dishes, utensils, and pots and pans- more than adequate to stay in and cook instead of eating out every night. There were three things we particularly loved:
      1. Master suite- The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was great. We loved the shower with two seats and a rain head and the large triangular garden tub with jets.
      2. Game loft- We made good use of the pool table and really liked feel of the space from the lights over the table, to the bar lights on the walls, to the bar and bar stools, even down to the little statue of a Mexican hombre holding an oversized martini glass- very charming. There's also a futon up there, which (combined with a sofa bed) makes this place sleep at least 8.
      3. Hot tub- We hiked about 40 miles during our 5-day stay, so a nightly soak with a cocktail in the hot tub was one of the best parts of our day. Just thinking about it makes me wish I were back there now. There is also a nice gas grill on the back porch which came in handy on steak night.
Overall, we absolutely loved our time with JMH again, and the staff at the office couldn't have been sweeter to us. I highly recommend this cabin and this company. The properties in their Black Bear Falls community are great as well, and may offer better views than property. Personally, we prefer to get our mountain view fix on the trails.

      A Perfect Weekend Getaway...

Left on 03/03/2011 for a stay in February 2011

Our weekend getaway was absolutely perfect. My boyfriend was speechless once we walked through the door. This is my second time staying at the Great Escape (in the last 7 months!) I was completely blown away during my first visit in July, so I decided to surprise him with a short, spontaneous getaway to the Smokies!!! We enjoyed every minute of it and we plan on staying with Jackson Mountain Homes again....very soon!!!!

we truly enjoyed our stay. we can to gatlinburg to get married with an intimate groupd of family and friends. origianl plans were to have small reception at another chalet rented by family, but when we arrived at great escape, we were so pleased and excited (compared to other unit) we changed our plans. the unit was not diffucult to get to. it was very clean. we could tell the owners payed great attention to detail and jackson properties managed it well. everything prmoted was 100%true. we were nervous about what to expect and had to trust what we were told. pleased it played out well. the other chalet, rented from another company, did notplay out so well. so kudos to hoesty of staff we spoke with. that is i,mportant to us and we will use them again.

Fun family time with awesome mountain view

Left on 01/11/2011 for a stay in December 2010

We recently stayed at the Great Escape, and enjoyed our stay very much! My husband, myself and our 3 kids traveled to Gatlinburg for a week long stay. We were very pleased when we arrived with the easy check in process. Then pleased again with the cabin and it's location. The view of the mountain was great! Large grocery store only 4 minutes away. Cabin is 1 minute off of main road which was very nice. No steep grades to worry about with small children at this cabin, but still have nice view. Would highly recommend Jackson Mountain Homes for your stay in Gatlinburg.

The Great Escape was everything my husband and I hoped it was going to be. It had an excellent view of the mountains, a fabulous hot tub that was so nice to come home to after a long day of shopping in Gatlinburg. The cabin was only about 5 minutes from downtown and very private. We loved the at home feeling it had and was stocked with almost everything we needed for our week stay. This cabin was perfect for our honeymoon and next year we hope to take the family down there, its Huge! We loved the great escape and the name fits this cabin perfectly it truely is a great escape, we can't wait to go back.

Left on 12/08/2010 for a stay in May 2010

We love the Smoky Mountains and try to visit at least once a year. We always stay with Jackson Mountain Homes in different cabins and have always had a great experience. There is nothing like staying in your own mountain cabin away from the bustling streets of Gatlinburg. We spend most of our time between the cabin and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Great Escape gave us a wonderful relaxing time. We particularly enjoy the billiard table as a means of family fun time together and eating our meals on the large deck. The kitchen is beautful as well as the furnishings and the relaxing baths and showers. This has become our cabin of choice and look to booking it for our next trip in the spring of 2011. We'll see you soon!

Left on 04/01/2010 for a stay in March 2010

The home is located for a great mountain view from the fully wrapped around deck and the many windows that face the mountains from the front of the house. It is also tucked behind some trees that afford a fair bit of privacy from the other homes on the street. The hot tub is also privately located on the deck in the back corner of the deck. It has a gas grill (love it - no need for charcoal mess). The owners have thought a lot about amenities and comfort - and not missed anything!! Could not ask for anything more - except one of the neighbors was a bit too happy late at night....then again it was college break...early morning payback was amusing though. All in all - a GREAT vacation home.

The Great Escape was wonderful for my wife and our friends. From reservation through the easy late check in process and great directions to the cabin everything was fantastic. We had one minor glitch when we arrived with a new mattress that had arrived after the cleaning crew had already left that left our bed without sheets. However, the after hour crew brought a new set over right away and the great management staff offered wonderful gift certificates to local restaurants for our inconvenience. I would highly recommend this cabin as well as Jackson Mountain Homes to anyone traveling to Gatlinburg.

The cabin was just like it was advertised. It looked better in person than from the pictures. All appliances and heating worked. The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. The hot tub was notably very clean. JMH's positive reviews was a deciding factor when choosing a cabin for this trip.

The other cabin companies had a lot of customer complaints and no positive reviews in over 8 months. I would recommend JMH to anyone looking for a cabin getaway.

Check-In/Out was easy and painless, and JMH staff was friendly.

Left on 10/21/2009 for a stay in October 2009

The house was great - my husband and I rented it with another couple - much different from our first trip two years ago with our five children and one set of grandparents. The weather was kind of rainy but we hiked in the mountains anyway and had a great time. It was great to come back to the house, grill out, hang out in the hot tub, shoot pool, relax, etc.

THIS WAS AN AWESOME GET-A-WAY.... MY HUSBAND WAS ON R&R FROM IRAQ AND AS YOU COULD IMAGINE, FOR HIM THE CABIN HAD A FAR DIFFERENT ATMOSPERE THAN HE HAD BEEN ACUSTOMED TO. WE FELT LIKE WE WERE ON OUR SECOND HONEYMOON DURING OUR STAY AT GREAT ESCAPE. WE GOT MARRIED THERE IN GATLINBURG IN JUNE OF 2004 AND HAVE WANTED TO GO BACK EVER SINCE. THE CABIN WAS COZY AND VERY CLEAN. WE LOVED RELAXING IN THE HOT TUB IN THE QUIET OF THE TREES. WE ENJOYED THE SCENERY COMBINATION OF THE WOODS AND MOUNTAIN VIEW FROM THE FRONT OF THE CABIN. ALL IN ALL WE HAD A WONDERFUL EXPEIRIENCE AND WE WOULD RECOMMEND THIS GET AWAY AGAIN AND AGAIN!!

The service we get from Jackson Mountain is excellent! We've been staying with them for years, and we're always happy. The home was in excellent condition, and is very cozy. There was plenty of room. It had a great mountain view and was very quiet at night. The covered porch and hot tub were nice to come home to after a long day of hiking. The only thing we didn't like was leaving. We'll be back.

      Wonderful Cabin

Left on 09/29/2009 for a stay in September 2009

Great Escape was a wonderful cabin. The location was ideal being readily accessable and close to Gatlinburg whilst still in a private setting - whilst there were other cabins nearby we were not overlooked.

Relaxing on the deck or in the hot tub was the perfect end to a day exploring the Great Smoky National Park. We saw squirrels, deer, turtles and a variety of wild birds whilst relaxing on the deck.

All the rooms were furnished to a high standard and were exactly as described on the Jackson Mountain Homes website.

The overall process from initial reservation to check out was easy and I would recommend this specific cabin in particular and Jackson Mountain Homes in general.

I would have no hesitation in using them in the future should I ever visit the area again.

Left on 08/20/2009 for a stay in August 2009

We decided in early August that the Smokey Mountains were "calling us" once again so started looking for accomodations on the internet. We checked out a few cabin rental sites when I came upon the Jackson Mountain Homes site. Our number one priority was that it have a good mountain view so I called the 800 number on the site. I was given a number of cabins to look at on their internet site along with prices and other information. The gal that I talked with was very helpful and courteous and after checking available dates and cabins we decided that the Great Escape cabin was going to take care of all of our needs and desires....boy did it ever!

We shared the cabin with another couple and it was perfect. We each had our own master bedroom with one on the upper and one on the lower level. The front porch was our favorite place to sit and enjoy the beautiful mountain view after a long day of visiting the Smokey Mountain National Park. The location just outside of Gatlinburg was easy to find with a beautiful view and peaceful setting. It had all the amenities one could want and the cabin itself is just beautiful. I would highly recommend it for a very pleasant stay in the Smokey Mountain area.

      Manager

Thank you for your comments on Great Escape. We too would love to offer a noon check out, however, because cleaning a cabin is more extensive than a hotel room (kitchens, hot tubs, multiple bathrooms, etc) housekeeping takes longer. So in order to assure a 3pm check in time, 10am works best. Thank you again!

The Great Escape cabin truly lives up to its name. Ww've been married 30 years and this was the first time we went on vacation alone. The cabin was clean, well equipped, had all the amenities you need, had a beautiful view from the front porch, and the location was great. Far enough to be out of town but just a few minutes from Gatlinburg. We loved the cabin and the easy access to everything we wanted to do. Hope to go back for another stay in the future.
