Description from the owner
Casita Mosaica, the one bedroom cottage in Casa Mosaica garden, sits at the edge of the romantice hill top village of Gaucin. Situated on the Ronda side of the village and easy to find, with parking in the street outside, Casita Mosaica is perfectly situated for guests to walk to the restaurants, bars and shops in the narrow lanes of Gaucin without having to worry about parking.
Unseen from the street, the peaceful scented garden is full of exotic palms, jasmines, bougainvillea, mosaics and fountains; the pretty swimming pool in its own courtyard is just what you long for after the heat and bustle of village life or a trip to the coast...Read more

186338Delightful property in a working village
Left on 06/11/2012 for a stay in June 2012
A 2 and a half hour drive from Sevilla - other airports are nearer - situated at the entrance to the village of Gaucin, Casita Mosica is a delightful place in which to sit, read, swim (in a shared pool) and just generally relax. The house itself is a tower built in the Moorish style, decorated by the owner who is a professional interior designer, with a number of beautiful hand made mosaics and soft furnishings around the house adding to a feeling of space and calm.
The house sits apart from the Casa Mosica, which is also for rent by up to 4 people, and with who you share the pool. The Casita is separated from the Casa by a garden laid out again in a Moorish style, and is one that could feature in any number of gardening magazines as a classic of its type. The Casita also has its own secluded courtyard garden which you can use to eat out in the evening.
The Casita Mosica is set out on three levels. The ground floor has a wide entrance hall off which a kitchen with dining table and a sitting area laid out with two comfortable built in wall sofas where you will also find a small TV and DVD. The house has Wi-Fi. On the second floor are a bathroom with bath and excellent shower, and the bedroom with a dressing table with drawers and another beautiful table inlaid with a mosaic. There is a cupboard for clothes on the landing. Up another flight of stairs is an outside day room which is the perfect place to have a drink in the evening and look out over the gardens to a stunning mountain view.
The owner lives on site above the Casa Mosica and is happy to recommend the best tapas bar and other places to visit. In the Casita there are maps of the area, including several books of suggested walks, and there are also a few Dvds and reading books if you are travelling light.
If you are looking for somewhere wild and remote the Casita Mosica is not for you. Gaucin is a working village and there are shops, bars and restaurants all within walking distance. Indeed the nearest bar and supermarket are literally just across the road, as is the parking so there is no need to navigate the narrow village roads. You can hear the noise from the main road but its not that busy and once you close the entrance gate and sit behind the big walls you can escape and just luxuriate in wonderful surroundings. -

BrusselsStunning village location in lush secret garden
Left on 04/18/2012 for a stay in January 2011
I rented Casita Mosaica between 2008 - 2011, so I feel I can give a really accurate review of the house throughout the seasons. I miss the Casita, I have never lived anywhere I liked better.
This is a house with a difference. Firstly, it's easy to find and one of the few places you can park in Gaucin, opposite a small bar and the main supermarket and within walking distance of all the restaurants, bars, banks and post office. A high white wall hides the spectacular garden, swimming pool courtyard and the stunning tower that is Casita Mosaica. It's like entering a secret garden in Morocco and this is where the surprises just begin...The Casita itself is magical, cozy and bright in winter, with good central heating and a wood stove and it's airy in summer, due to a wonderful spaciousness and lots of windows opening onto pretty views of the exotic garden, the village and the stunning countryside. The owner is a mosaic designer and interior decorator so beautiful hand made mosaics delight the eye throughout the house and attention to detail are everywhere.
Casita Mosaics is discreetly situated in the garden of Casa Mosaica, where up to 4 guests share the swimming pool courtyard and the garden. Many a summer evening I have spent at the top of the tower having a cool glass of wine, reading my book and enjoying the view out to Cortez de la Frontera while village life goes on below in the street.
Gaucin has become very popular with visitors and also a thriving Spanish village with all that involves: running bulls through the medieval streets at Easter, the Feria in august, the local Saint's day and religious processions in September. The Spanish certainly know how to enjoy themselves at these times with music and dancing all night. This is a big part of the charm of Gaucin for me, and the Casita was the perfect place to be involved in all this and yet escape behind the big white wall or up in the tower.
