Enjoy lovely ocean views from the comfort of your own home in this first-floor 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom vacation rental. Up to four of you can sleep here comfortably; a king bed and sofa bed are provided. Watch your favorite movies with the DVD player or VCR, make cornbread in the fully furnished kitchen, and read the newspaper at the breakfast bar. Wake up and enjoy watching the sunrise on your private balcony/ porch. Ensure a wonderful getaway by shopping at some of the area's specialty boutiques, jogging along the beach at sunrise, and fishing for salmon.

Even though it is not ours, we have stayed several times, always requesting this same'apartment'. It is such a great value, comfy, cozy and has all we need, including a balcony for those stormy times we cannot walk the block to the beach! Each time we walk through the door to unpack I feel we have arrived home! I can hardly wait to return!

This unit was very clean and comfortable. It suited my daughter and I just fine for the weekend. We did not spend too much time in the room, but it met our needs just fine. The bed was very comfortable, but the decor above the bed is just strange however, It didn't get in the way. The staff at Gearhart by the Sea is wonderful and very easy to work with. I would suggest putting signs up to direct people to the pool. It was difficult to find in the dark just by looking at the map.

There isn't much of a view from this unit; but everything was clean and the furnishings were cute and comfy. After an afternoon of shopping, I actually fell asleep on the living room couch - next to hubs, who was already dozing in the armchair next to me. Comfy, king sized bed and plenty of room to store suitcases.
On my wishlist to improve the property would be better coffee and real cream (which can be had at McMenamins across the street in a pinch) and real wood for the woodstove. The presto log just didn't light my fire. -

Room was not cleaned properly, floors were sticky, and carpet left my socks dirty. Walls by front door were half painted 2 different colors, like they started painting and gave up. Closet doors kept falling off the track. We were there to get married- had to call front desk 3 times throughout the day to get toilet paper on my wedding day. Day after wedding boiler broke so had no hot water for most of day- had to go to family function without a shower- gross!! Location was convenient, but will not go back.

I am sorry that your room was not cleaned to our standard and I will address your concerns with housekeeping. Unfortunately the main boiler had a part go down that morning and it took a few hours to replace the part.

Overall it was a very good stay. The room was very spacious but the furnishings were a bit on the dated side. The livingroom needed a more comfortable chair to sit in.

May 19, 2010 | Trip type: Couples Gearhart By the Sea is an old (1960's ?) Condo Resort. Each unit is individually owned by a private party. Consequently, each unit is as individual as its owner in decor, furnishings and modernity of appliances. We stayed in G602 and were very pleased. If you like to cook on vacation, this unit is for you: lots of cookware, including loaf pan, pie tins, blender, mixer...Since we traveled from EDT to PDT, it was nice to to have coffee, snacks & meals on our own schedule. May is still off-season here so it was very quiet. There is a coin-op laundry near the pool and a hot tub in the pool area. Check the tub temp before you want to use it to make sure the heat is on. G602 is a no-pet unit. -
