This beautiful beach house is just steps from the ocean! This home is close to everything and it's spacious! Perfect for family getaways,retreats, family reunions and friends. With seven bedrooms and 3 baths, everyone is comfortable.The home accomodates 17 guests maximum. Gearhart is just 5 minutes to Seaside and 20 minutes from charming downtown Astoria. We brought our family to Gearhart for a reunion - 10 adults and 7 children 4 and younger. This house was perfect! The kitchen is large and very well equipped for many more than the 17 of us. There is a large dining room with a rustic table, and a sun room with a second table that was perfect for feeding the little ones. The bedrooms are large and sunny, lots of blankets and quilts, 4 queen sized beds for couples, and one large room with 5 beds, including a bunk for kids.
The house is a short walk from the beach, and we spent lots of time there with kiddos playing in the sand and running in the water even though it was chilly. There is a short walk to the small village of Gearhart, which has a bakery, a post office, a grocery, a restaurant, and a gift shop. At the other end of the village there is a lovely golf course and a McMinnimens restaurant.
The biggest surprise was the herd of Roosevelt Elk that were visiting the grassy area between the house and the beach the first day. Seems that they come down to the beach area as the weather gets cooler and live there for the winter. Our grandchildren were fascinated, as were the rest of us. The herd moved further north along the beach as the week progressed so we didn't see them as much after the first day.
The only drawback of the house is the set up of bathrooms. The bath with a shower on the second floor is between two of the adult bedrooms. The other bathroom only has a tub (perfect for little kids, but not a favorite with the adults). There is a great 'sand shower' in the basement, but it is not super private and is a bit rustic. But we were able to share and work it out, and the rest of the house was well worth it.
I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that we would love to vacation at this house again some day, and will remember it very fondly as we look at the pictures of our time together.Response from OCEAN GEARHART, LLC - 10/02/2012

Location locatio location!!! For the past several years our family gather and stay here. We always have had a wonderful memorable stay. There is plenty of room to gather for meals and conversations. It has a ton a room for sleeping. The beach is just a short stroll away. A bonus is the golf course is just around the corner!
