I love the property and enjoyed the history of the artist studio. There was plenty of outdoor seating under the trees with views of the hill country. I loved the walk through the pecan orchard to the San Gabriel. This is a perfect place to take in the countryside, get some fresh air and just relax. I truly plan on coming back each year. And the banana nut muffins were awesome!

We had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful fireplace. The weather was a bit chilly on the first night of our arrival. Sheron was a most gracious hostess. She provided the best Blueberry Muffins that I have ever had along with a basket of fresh fruits. The view from the windows is spectacular. Can't wait for our next run for relaxation. Downtown Georgetown is a plus.

I am so glad you were able to enjoy the fireplace! The spectacular views from the wall of windows above the bluff change with the seasons. Right now, the redbuds are blooming and soon the yucca will be blooming. The couple that left this morning said they could have spent all of their time on the river! Look forward to your visiting again.

The Palette Pad was the perfect place for us to stay while we were in town celebrating an early Thanksgiving with our family. The studio was clean, comfortably decorated and the view can't be beat! Even though the weather was more like Indian summer than Fall, we loved watching the colorful leaves from the big windows in the living room and dining areas. The kitchen was perfect for preparing a light meal of baked chicken and roasted vegetables. We mentioned that we were trying to eat healthy - thank you so much for providing the fresh fruit (maybe next time we can try your famous muffins). We walked down to the river every morning and brought back some fool's gold souvenirs. I would highly recommend this property to other couples looking for a great spot to relax.

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to get down to the river. A couple staying now have loved going to the river. The lady is a 3rd grade teacher and she has colleced fossils to take back to show her class and she too found the fool's gold! They have also enjoyed visiting the sites around Georgetown - Blue Hole and the beautifully restored downtowan area. We look forward to your next visit!

We were glad to you enjoyed your stay! The farm is beautiful, even in the winter. The bluebonnets should begin blooming in the next couple of weeks, along with the many different wildflowers we have. The baby goats are enjoying the sunny days and we love watching them bounce around. Come again!

Superb accommodations and hospitality. We enjoyed the fresh fruit and home made muffins every morning under the live oaks - the birds and hummers were almost as special as the visits from Jack! Thank you for the unique and special Hill Country experience.

Plano, TXGreat views, relaxing stay, gracious hosts
Left on 05/02/2011 for a stay in December 2010
My husband and I stayed in December and it beat staying in any hotel! We had everything we needed and more, from kitchen gadgets to hair dryer to books and games. We spent time admiring the spectacular scenery through the wall of windows, an amazing view from the top of the bluff down to the pecan orchard. All the windows really bring the outside inside. The Palette Pad is full of character, showcasing the artwork of C.P. Montague and with interesting articles to read about the artist. Our hosts had relaxing music playing in the CD player on our arrival and even started the first fire in the fireplace for us and kept us stocked with firewood. We will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed having you stay. In the winter, the fireplace is definitely one of the most enjoyed features of The Palette Pad! Hope you can return this spring or summer and enjoy the birds and wildlife - see the hummers at the feeders, the squirrels and birds enjoying the sunflower seeds, or the deer below the bluff as they venture out in the evening.

Very quiet & relaxing. Fireplace wonderful when it was very chilly one evening & morning. Relaxing music CD playing unto arrival. No tv, which was fine with me. Close to shops & restaurants in Georgetown. Cozy & comfortable. People who own the place were very friendly & her homemade banana nut muffins were delicious! Wear good shoes if hiking down to the river & take some water along. Very peaceful place & fun to look around for rocks. Studio up on a bluff & can see out across country. Good patio area for just sitting & relaxing under the oak trees. (or reading a book).

Left on 03/12/2011 for a stay in January 2011
My husband and I stayed here in January for a weekend away and were more than pleased with our visit. The charming cottage sits on a bluff which looks down on pecan orchards and the San Gabriel River. We had nice long breakfasts looking out over their beautiful piece of property with the delicious home-made muffins presented by our hosts. We loved the fireplace and spent some wonderful time reading and playing games by the fire. During the day we would walk through the orchard or along the river beds. We only left at night to eat dinner out. Just a heavenly spot. We can't wait to return! If you are looking for peace, quiet and beauty, you can't go wrong.

We were so glad you and your husband had this quiet time alone before getting your new baby. We love it when guests enjoy exploring and hiking different parts of the farm. The 1/2 mile of river frontage gives plenty of opportunity for that! We hope you can return again.

This was a unique and truly "Texas" experience - not a cookie cutter hotel room, but a spacious apartment feel. Hosts were welcoming and provided muffins, coffee, and juice. They were helpful but not hovering. The studio sits by a bluff overlooking the river bottom with comfortable iron rockers, outdoor table and grill. We wished we had more time to enjoy the river, hiking, seeing the farm animals, etc. We loved the decor of landscape artist memorabilia and Texas theme and all the reading material and suggestions for the area. There were all sorts of nice touches - plenty firewood, books, games, soothing cd's, teas and fruit. It feels like an escape and spa. What a bargain for what is provided!
