Disappointed
MassachusettsMold, mildew, smelly and falsely advertised
Left on 05/02/2013 for a stay in April 2013
My family and I have stayed at DeBordieu in various rentals for the past six years and have always been pleased with our accommodations. Needing a large rental again in april for a family wedding I was told that 140 sea breeze was dated but kept up by the owner when I asked the rental office for their opinion. It was listed as sleeping 14 which was what I needed for our week stay to accomodate my family for the week of wedding fun. Upon arrival we notice a strong pungent odder looming on the first floor which slept 6 people. It was also damp, rendering a musty, mold smell on top of the other pungent smell. Needless to say those 6 beds were not sutable for sleeping. The blue carpet throughout the home was more than just dated it was years past it's life expectancy and dirty. For a home that says it sleeps 14 we could only get 4 hot showers at a time before running out of hot water and having to wait for the tank to replenish. This made showering for the many wedding functions extremely difficult. Every vent in the home was rusty and had inches of dust coming out of them. One bathroom shower was plugged solid. The deck off the family room was protected by carpenter bees the size of my head that made it difficult to sit out, and the gas grill was so rusty that we were uncomfortable to use if for safety reasons. I Dont mind dated and yes the house was dated but I do mind dirty and false advertisement. I also am extremely disappointed in the rental office because they should know their inventory better. They did tell me dated but this home went beyond dated to dirty and uninhabitable for the 14 people it is advertised for.

Left on 03/28/2013 for a stay in June 2012
We stayed at this home the week-end my daughter was getting married at the Debordieu Clubhouse. I loved the different floor levels and bedroom layouts that embraced privacy and in particular I loved the fact that the master bedroom was on the top floor all by itself. The bed was very comfortable and the view from the bedroom glorious.
The bottom floor playroom was a natural gathering place for everyone to hang out when they were not loving life on the beach or the den porch. This home is located walking distance from the beach and that was a huge plus.
For a home that slept so many people, the kitchen was a bit small but perhaps that is a good thing, because it kept extra bodies out of a crucial work space. The den bubbles forth with seating and is a great gathering place.
The inside decor is dated. However, it is a comfortable home that gave us a wonderful haven for a magical week-end. -

Chicago, Illinoisok for 2 families, needs better cleaning
Left on 08/15/2012 for a stay in August 2012
I found the house to be serviceable for 2 families plus another couple or perhaps two if you don't mind sleeping next to the kitchen with all the associated noise of slamming cabinets and socializing in the main living area.
As noted, the bedroom near the kitchen is only suitable for adults and definitely not anyone who might need a bedtime or is a light sleeper. I suppose the other rooms might be ok, but I wouldn't know as I didn't sleep in those.
The cleaning crew could use some additional training. There were cobwebs all over the house and it appeared the carpet hadn't been vacuumed in at least three rental visits. The sheets, towels, bathrooms were all fine. Baby highchair was filthy. I guess this is a function of how often the house is sitting empty and if the previous guests cleaned up after themselves. (After this I will be keeping to hotels as often as possible.) There were a few ants in the kitchen, but given this house is surrounded by trees it wasn't an issue as long as you kept the food sealed and counters clean. Water pressure and quality were good, the ice maker was nice to have.
Internet wifi and cable with DVR (in living room) was good, but not all bedrooms have TVs.
The gas grill was only half functional so it took over an hour to cook some vegetables and 10 steaks.
Proximity to the beach and pool were good given the size of the neighborhood, about 150 and 500 yards respectively.
Also note: the #140 doesn't mean anything for the address. It is 555 Debordieu Blvd., the mailbox has a "Sea Breeze" sign hanging from it. It is located on this main street with the garage and parking around the right side of the house down a private drive which is accessible from the cross street. -

I rented for my over flow guests. My house was very near. the guests said it was very quiet even when each bed was filled. they did not need any of the play things..no time for them..but thot them nice..they were somewhat confused by the downstairs lights..needed some highlighting...with so many coming & going they wanted a way to light the doors from outside..I wanted more keys..since we had 5 different people using the house..but we got along okey since it was fall & few people at DeB.

The house is lovely, the rooms are fine. However, some of the bathroom fixtures need to be repaired and fixed. The decks need to be cleaned.
Our stay was very short (2 nights)and we were occupied during the day, so we didn't have to time to use the bicycles, watching dvds, or play any games. We did take a walk at the beach which was lovely.

140 Sea Breeze was fantastic. Plenty of room, good anemities, great location. The bikes were a real hit, as were the plethra of beach chairs available to use. We could not have asked for a better time. The pool table got plenty of use. I would recommend this house to any groups of 12-14. It was great.
