Just stayed here last weekend with a few friends and couldn't have enjoyed it more. The feel of the house really encapsulates the town of Gettysburg. It is clean, well-kept and has all the amenities. The location is within walking distance to town and all the shops/restaurants. A terrific back porch makes the early evening hours a serene spot for dinner and cocktails. Highly recommend staying here over any hotel in Gettysburg.

I've stayed a number of places over the years in Gettysburg and The Cricket House is by far the best. It is so nice to stay in a place that quickly becomes your home. Quick walk to the downtown circle and easy access to historic spots and the college. Great to stop in for a weekend or and extended stay.

You could stay in any of the numerous hotels or motels around Gettysburg, but if you want to get a real feel for the town and it's history I couldn't think of a better place to stay than the Cricket House! It's a beautiful and charming cottage with amazing amenities and Debi, the owner and hostess, is the best. When you're not exploring Gettysburg you might fight yourself spending more time than you thought relaxing in the comfortable confines of the Cricket House. I highly recommend it for any stay in Gettysburg!

The place is awesome! It definitely has the feel of a home away from home. It has all the amenities you need to have a comfortable stay. Bedrooms are very spacious and comfortable. It even has a fully functional kitchen if you wanted to cook a meal instead of going out. Debbie, who runs the place, is a very kind and hospitable host. Anything that we needed, she was able to find a way to accommodate, even finding us some Mad Elf Beer! The location of The Cricket House is very convenient also, just walks away from historic downtown Gettysburg.
I would definitely recommend checking this place out for a weekend getaway. -

Washington DCBest place in town
Left on 11/24/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Before you even get a chance to walk in, you will be struck by how beautiful this cottage is, not only the actual structure, but the wonderful landscaping work. Out front you have your own parking place that is big enough to accommodate two vehicles, which will save you the hassle finding street parking and feeding a meeter. Around back you will be treated to a little secluded garden, perfect for enjoying your morning coffee, or unwinding after a long day around town and the battlefields.
On the inside, the cricket house has a lot to offer. You will be surprised by how much space there actually is. Everything is very tastefully decorated, including a lot of cool Gettysburg memorabilia. Most importantly it is incredibly welcoming. on the first floor there is a fully equipped kitchen, that quite frankly is bigger and nicer than that which is found in everyone's first apartment. The two bedrooms are simple, but well equipped with comfortable beds, and ample space to hang up and put away clothes. The upstairs bathroom has a very nice Jacuzzi tub, and the first floor bathroom has a shower that doubles as a sauna. I didn't use the sauna, but a number of people I stayed with speak very highly of it.
The Cricket house is perfectly situated in town. You have a 5 minute walk to the circle in the center of town. There you will find numerous shops and restaurants. All of the battlefields and other attractions like the new visitors center are 5 minutes by car.
Like all other aspects of your stay at the cricket house, the service is top notch. Debi is nothing short of an amazing woman. Incredibly nice, and great to talk too; she wants to make sure you enjoy your stay. She has great tips on where to eat and what to do in town.
Most importantly, if you do plan on purchasing and beer for your stay in Gettysburg, make sure you avoid beermart down the street, and go the extra two minutes to Lil' Deb's High Street Brews.

Wow, after that review, I will offer to cook you dinner next time you visit the Cricket House!
Thank you for your patronage to not only the Cricket House but also lil' debi's High Street Brews. BeerMart is another wonderful small business in town and there are enough beer drinkers (locals and tourists) to keep both businesses afloat.
Looking forward to your next visit and again, many thanks.

We wanted to explore the battlefields over a couple of days. We found this little place on the internet and took a chance and are so happy with our discovery! The location is great, walking distance to the battlefields and to the lovely downtown area of Gettysburg with restaurants and shops. The cottage is beautiful, so quaint but very roomy. Just the two of us but with the two floors and two bathrooms, a larger family would be very comfortable. Also, the garden is really pleasant and so nice to come back to after a busy day of exploring.

The Cricket House is like a home away from home with all the amenities you need for a family (or friends) vacation! The bedrooms are separated on the two floors so it allows for privacy; there is a nice size kitchen if you want to cook; a cute porch with a little yard to sit out and view; and best yet you are walking distance to downtown Gettysburg! The place is very clean, you don't have to worry about noise as you might in a hotel, and Debbi, the owner, is great! She knows all the fun things to do and see in Gettysburg. I would definitely stay here over a hotel any time we go back!

The Cricket House in Gettysburg, pa is a lovely, cozy cottage which my husband and I rented for 5 nights while in this historic town. The owner, Deb Gemmell, was gracious and friendly, making sure we were comfortable. She offered tips on tours and restaurants which were in walking distance from the cottage. There is so much to see and do in Gettysburg that coming back to the Cricket House each day was a welcome delight. The fenced in back yard and lovely gardens offered privacy and proved to be a good spot to store our bicycles. The property is only one block
from Culp's Hill on the eastern side of the battlefield, handy for walking or bicycling. -

The Cricket House is a great place to stay when visiting Gettysburg. I've stayed there twice & will again the next time I'm in the area. The house sleeps 4 comfortably & has 2 full baths. It is just a few blocks from the town circle & restaurants, so you can walk & enjoy the sites. There is an entrance to the battlefield park just 1 block away & it is a beautiful walk also. It has a nice back porch & yard to sit & relax & is very private. A hidden gem in Gettysburg.

We were extremely pleased with every aspect of this rental property. The service was prompt and outstanding, the helpful tips about local restaurants and activities made the Gettysburg experience all the more enjoyable. The accommodations were delightful, and the household items and conveniences provided were far from ordinary. The setting could not be beat, actually in the city and close to everything offered, yet as peaceful and quiet as you could hope for in a country setting. We particularly enjoyed having a wonderful breakfast out on the deck in the backyard every morning while planning that day's activities. We have already told numerous people that this is truly the only place to stay in Gettysburg.

I am always a bit leery of B & Bs because I prefer to choose the company i keep on a vacation. The Cricket House is actually more of a private retreat, a quaint little guest house with the proprieter conveniently ensconsed just a garden away. We felt like welcome guests in the summer cottage of a private home.Debi Gimmel is friendly and accomodating, always ready to provide information on local attractions, events and restaurants.
There were only two of us but the house would be great for a family of four or five with 2 full bedrooms and baths.
The renovations provide modern bathrooms, comfortable sleeping, and technological updates without sacrificing the original historic charm. The kitchen was well equipped but I must admit we didn't use it much because we wanted to try all of the restaurants.
We like to do some walking and the location made it possible for us to walk to nearby dining and shopping.
We were looking for a relaxing, low key get-away and found it at the Cricket House. The spa was an added bonus not often available at bed and breakfasts.
We had never been to Gettysburg but we plan to go again and will definitey stay here.

Deb's "Cricket House" was the perfect place for us to stay during our Gettysburg trip. She met us at the cottage and was very informative about the house and thoroughly explained the amenities the cottage had to offer. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped with anything one would need. Deb provided a variety of brochures explaining local attractions as well as suggestions regarding which restaurants to try. The Cricket House had very convenient parking and was in a great location for checking out all that Gettysburg has to offer. We would not hesitate to stay at the Cricket House again.

Subject: Victorian Guest Cottage in Historic Gettysburg
Location: Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, United States, North america
The cricket house abounds in relaxation from beds you don't won't to get out of,
an amazing spa tub, a steam shower and delightful relaxing outdoor patio area.
More amenities are available next door if you should choose. Nail salon, sauna,
massage therapy. The wonderful owner Deb, is just over the fence. Readily
available if needed but totally uninvasive. We feel in such a short time, we
gained a new friend. The house is just a couple of blocks from the Gettysburg
battlefields and downtown. Our plan was to stay 2 nights but we added a third
as the house was still available and we just weren't ready to leave. Gettysburg
and the location of the house, offers history, beauty, plenty of restaurants,
taverns, and shops and grocery stores if needed. So much to do and see.
Advice: Book it,, bring comfortable walking shoes, Park the car in the driveway
and hope for great weather to enjoy the outdoors and the easy walking access to
so much. -

My boyfriend and I always spend a Valentine's weekend every year, for the past four years, at the Cricket House. We absolutely adore the charm and convenience it has to offer, better than any hotel or B&B.; Deb, the owner, is also a fantastic bonus that makes you wish more people in this world were like her in taking pride and care of their business. She is no longer the owner, she is a dear friend. The house offers everything one can wish for and is only walking distance from the town. You will fall in love with this house. The Cricket House also creates love, because now I am proud to say I'm engaged, and it all happened in the Cricket House!!!

I have visited a lot of Bed and Breakfasts and alternative places to vacation. The Cricket gets a 10+++. Although, it is not a B & B, Deborah Gemmell has transferred this Carriage House into an intimate, serene experience. The ambiance of The Cricket House is gorgeous and decorated beautifully. Deborah's attention to detail to make your stay in Gettysburg is well thought out and perfect in every way. She knows all the establishments in the area and will direct you in the right direction for meals, events, historical areas. I definitely recommend The Cricket House for any visitor to Gettysburg to create wonderful, memorable memories. I will be a frequent guest at The Cricket House in the years to come.

Deb has thought about everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We stayed here with friends this weekend and could not have been happier with our choice. This charming cottage is decorated with beautiful antiques and original art. It is spotlessly clean and stocked with a wide range of kitchen utensils and staples. We forgot coffee and Deb gave us some of hers! I would have given it 5 stars across the board, except it got too hot upstairs when the folks downstairs were comfortably warm at night. The second night we set the thermostat lower. The downstairs guests turned on the space heater provided, and everyone was comfortable.
Cricket House is in a great location, right in town but with off street parking. Deb is invaluable for recommending places to eat and seeing the park. We hope to be able to stay here again soon.

Left on 01/04/2012 for a stay in December 2011
We have stayed at Cricket House many times since it opened. It is very convenient to downtown restaurants, shops and an entrance to the Nat. Park which provides a great place to walk. Since it has a full kitchen, one has the option of cooking breakfast or other meals instead of going to restaurants for every meal. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment and there is also an outdoor grill.
Having the walled/private garden is a real treat for sitting and drinking morning coffee or an evening glass of wine or just relaxing after a busy day sightseeing or hiking.
We have stayed at Cricket House during busy Remembrance Day Weekend and also just for a winter weekend to relax and unwind - it is great for both. Off street parking so close to activities during Remembrance Day Weekend is a huge plus.
The seating for meals in the kitchen is a little crowded and the jacuzzi/shower combination in the upstairs bathroom is a little tricky, but there is a wonderful steam shower in the downstairs. Someone with a problem with steps might have issues. All the extras such as 3 flat screen tvs, luxurious linens, ample supply of good quality dishes/glassware/cookware and having the privacy of the whole cottage and garden certainly make it a great place to stay.
Deb is a delight to work with in planning time at Cricket House - very accommodating, interesting and a genuinely sweet person.
We consider Cricket House our "home away from home" in Gettysburg.
