Captain J's Seaside Suite is a 950 sq ft suite with large airy rooms all looking at the ocean view. This is a one bed room suite (queen) with a pull out queen sofa bed in the living room to accomodate 2 - 4 adults. There is a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with an original claw bath tub/shower & W/D. Gibsons is an unique scenic seaside village voted the most livable community of its size in the world (winner of the 2009 LivCom Gold Award) It is just a 40 minute ferry ride from North Vancouver, B.C. The Sunshine Coast features breathtaking views of waters sheltered by steep mountains. There are 6 golf courses, innumerable hiking trails, beaches, coves, and quite possibly the best mountain biking and scuba diving around. With lots of restauants, pubs, and fresh seafood daily on our docks and wharfs. Not known to many is that we have more artisan and artisit studios per capita........check out our Art Crawl and our amazing jazz festivals through out the year.

We stayed here for two nights in early December. It's just an hour away from downtown Vancouver, which is nice if you want a short relaxing vacation, but don't want to spend the majority of that time travelling. Captain J's is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the Coast - right at the waterfront but still very close to the ferry terminal, restaurants and shops. Cindy and John (and Dash!) were so warm and welcoming and made sure everything was set up for our stay. There were treats for us and the dog upon our arrival, which was a wonderful touch.
The beach was steps from the front door, and since we were there during the winter, it felt like we had it all to ourselves. The suite is fully stocked with just about everything you need and is such a cozy place that we were tempted to stay inside instead of exploring! There's not much better than a fireplace and the sound of waves outside on a cold, wet winter night.
We enjoyed our stay and can't say enough about Cindy and John's hospitality, and we look foward to returning for a visit in the summer. -

We stayed at captain J's on September the 18th 2012. Unfortunately we only had time for 1night which was not enough. After checking in, we were surrounded by a beautiful view of the ocean. A cabin that had everything anybody ever wanted.
The host's John and Cindy had everything organized. Wine glasses ready, coffee, cream etc. Everything was ready for us.
We slept really well in the comfortable bed.
I was actually sad to leave in the morning. On our next trip to the sunshine coast we will plan to stay a few more day's and enjoy the first class hospitality. -

This is a B&B; but should be a BB&B...its; beautiful - bright - and did I mention beautiful!!! Cindy and John and their dog Dash greet you with a wonderful warm welcome to their home. The family history is quite something and let me say ...they've done John grandparents proud with what they have done here. The suite truly has a wonderful airy, beachy feel to it. Everything is spotlessly clean, the bed comfortable and to fall asleep to the sound of the waves is incredible. I hate to even write this review because I think this is truly a treasure that I don't want to share...we've stayed at a number of B&B;'s on the sunshine coast but this one...its special. I can't even begin to describe the incredible views as you sit on the deck. Every part of the suite shares this same incredible view. The pictures just don't do it justice. Book it and I promise you won't be disappointed!!

We spent part of our holiday at Captain J's and it was a wonderful experience. Both Cindy and John go out of their way to ensure that you have a great time. The suite has unbelievable views and you are right on the beach. The suite is very large, clean and has everything needed. Great location also will not disappoint!

Captain J's Seaside Suite is the perfect getaway. From the friendly welcome, comfortable accommodations to the breathtaking views, we enjoyed not only our first visit in the the spring, but also a return visit in the summer. It has anything you may need for cooking in, as well as perfectly located for a short walk to the lower town site with quaint shops, eateries and the boat dock. Our hosts are warm, welcoming and very down to earth. The best part of the accommodations has to be the 5 steps out the door to the beach, where you can swim, walk, or have a nice beach fire with the perfect view.

A lovely little property in a quiet area, only a quarter mile stroll up the beach from the hub of activity in this scenic little piece of coastal BC. Cindy and John make you feel like part of the family, are at your beckon call, yet so in the background that you feel like you are in your own private heaven. We would find ourselves staring off into the distance saying, "Wow, this is so great!" Our past holiday habits is for a week in an all inclusive in Mexico, we are now going to substitute Captain J's instead! Really, its like having your own private resort.

We booked last minute at Captain J's. The porch, bedroom, living room and kitchen are all on the water. We dropped our bags, walked out our front door onto the beach to Gibson's landing, enjoyed a fish taco and bought some fresh crab and beer for later. They are only a couple km to sprockids bike park which is full of fun single track. We had a great ride, back for a hot tub and then ate our fresh crab and prawns on the porch looking at the gorgeous coast in front of a fire with a glass of wine. Cindy and John have thought of everything: even our bed was heated - we could open the windows and listen to the waves without getting cold. But next time we will take you up on the offer of the shuttle!

Well it has been 6 months since returning to australia from our Canada trip and have to say Gibsons was a big highlight! Through organising our accommodation with Cindy - she is so very helpful, emailed back and forth and also helped my parents find accommodation in Gibsons...we were very excited to get there and meet Cindy and John and relax, and that is exactly what we did! The Suite is amazing - right on the water with breathtaking views. Gibsons is a gorgeous sea side town, coming from australia - compeltely different to what we are use to...it was just perfect. Cindy and John have thought of everything you may need to make you feel right at home, they are a lovley family and if you are up for a chat they are more then welcoming:) -We went on a boat ride for a very good cost through one of Cindy's friends, this is a must do! John's crab appie's were sooo yummy and our bonfire on the beach was lovely!
We have promised ourselves that we will go back and stay longer next time round!!!
Thanks again for making my family right at home and for one of the best places we have travelled to!

This one bedroom suite has everything you need, full kitchen, fireplace, comfy sofas, roomy, exceptionally clean, private, views of the ocean from every window. The best part is that the ocean is right outside the deck. Within a 5 minute walk are wonderful restaurants. The hosts, Cindy and John, are warm and welcoming, and Cindy made us a delicious warm crab dip. We can't wait to go back during the summer months.

Captain J's Seaside Suite is a fantastic place to stay! The suite looks exactly as it does in the pictures, with perfect views of the ocean from every room! Incredibly relaxing, fully equipped and immaculately clean, the suite has everything you could possibly need. Cindy and John are incredible hosts who make you feel right at home--their hospitality is unsurpassed. Just a short walk to the town, and right on the beach, you have instant serenity with the convenience of a great location. I would strongly recommend staying here to anyone at anytime of the year if you are looking for a lovely retreat that is easy to get to from Vancouver--only a five minute drive from the ferry.

Cindy and John have thought of everything you might need. In addition to the amazing location and views, the suite is equipped with everything I could have wanted and more. A full spice rack, every appliance I needed to create amazing dinners, soft towels...the list goes on and on.
I surprised my boyfriend with a stay here on his birthday and we loved it so much we went back with his Father later this summer and again this fall. I could not recommend this place to enough friends.
I stumbled across their website and booked based on the photo's. You will not be disappointed. -

We have stayed in Gibsons many times and this is my favourite seaside beach house. The tide comes up to within a few feet of your bedroom window and the sound of the waves at night is pure heaven. You can walk for miles along the beach in both directions. The sound and smell of the ocean is ever present. The suite is on the lower level of a two storey home so you are right on the beach and by taking two steps out the door your toes are in the sand.
The proximity is also wonderful. The quaint village of Gibsons is less than a 5 minute walk with its abundance of shops, galleries, and restaurants. The area is home to many artists so a studio tour is a must.
Perhaps the best part of all is your hosts John and Cindy. They are such warm and welcoming people and we felt instantly at home.

From the moment I walked down the driveway to meet Cindy, John & Dash, I knew I had make the right decision in selecting Captain J's. My experience over my 4 day stay was nothing less than perfect; from the appetizers & wine waiting for me the first night I arrived, to the spectacular weather, easy private access to my suite, accessibility to town and the great beach combing & reading buddy I found in their dog Dash, my expectations were far surpassed. With the beach literally only steps outside your door, and I'm not sure what more you could as for. If you're looking for a place to rest, relax, and recharge their suite is most definitely the getaway you'll be dreaming of! I can't wait to make the time to visit again sometime soon.

Great service, loved the appies and bottle of wine, must not forget the doggie treats. Felt like I had known the owners for a long time. Very clean and cozy great location within walking distance to town centre and the beach only steps away from the door. Best thing was able to take our small dog and having the beach at our door step and the beautifull view which made it for a very relaxing getaway
