This stone barn conversion, five minutes walk from the village of Gilling West, three miles from Richmond can sleep ten people in four bedrooms. The Dovecote is a stone barn conversion cottage very close to the village of Gilling West, three miles from Richmond, and north of the Yorkshire Dales. Boasting four bedrooms, this mostly ground floor cottage has three double bedrooms and one first floor twin bedrooms, as well as a family bathroom and a family shower room. The cottage also has a fitted kitchen with a dining area, a sitting room with double sofabed and an open fire. Outside, this cottage has ample off road parking, plus a private pat...io and gardens with furniture and BBQ. The Dovecote is a perfect holiday cottage for families or groups of friends, who want to explore this magnificent area.

Amenities: Oil central heating with open fire in sitting room. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, plasma TV, video, WiFi. Shared use of laundry with washer & dryer. Fuel & power inc. in rent. Bed linen & towels inc. in rent. Cot & highchair on request. Ample off road parking. Private patio & gardens with furniture & BBQ. Shared use of courtyard. Free fly fishing in well-stocked lake, free coarse fishing in 2nd lake, by prior arrangement. Use of private hot tub at additional cost of £80 per week or £60 per short break, payable direct to owner. One well-behaved dog by arrangement (£20 per week). Sorry, no smoking. Shop & pub 5 mins walk.

All prices are inclusive of the booking fee. The "Min. Per Night" prices quoted are based on the weekly rental price, they are not applicable for short breaks. See our short break policy or ask for further details.
Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  The owners are very friendly and helpful which helps you relax. The cottage is well appointed and very clean and well maintained with plenty of room for the two of us and our Westie, thankfully the owners are very dog friendly too. The setting is lovely and quiet with many beautiful walks from the front door. Gilling West itself is very pleasant with a couple of good pubs for eating out. It is ideally placed for accessing the local area and the A1M to get home easily. Close by as you travel to Barnard Castle is a really good farm shop and cafe. This was our second stay here and we are back in 2010 which says it all.

  There were nine of us in our party, plus a dog, staying for a week. The location was fabulous, particularly because it is so accessible from a major route. The Dovecote was marvellous and having rented numerous large cottages over the years, I rate this in the top three! The owners were also very friendly and helpful. We would all highly recommend this property.

  Good base with good facilities

  Nothing was too much trouble for the owners on site. They were extremely helpful regarding the children, finding outdoor toys and offering child sized fishing rods. Good facilities outside for the children included trampoline and nice play area with large wooden castle. Plenty of room for cricket and football.
  Nice location for walking the dog- several really nice walks straight from the house.
  Good base for exploring the Dales and further north to Durham and south to York.
  House nicely decorated and comfortable. Everything worked. Kitchen rather small ideally - more work surfaces would have been good for us, as we cook a lot.
