Conway, ArkansasA Bed for One Night - OK
Left on 12/28/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We stayed in the alta House (cabin on the left side of photo) in late august of 2012. We wanted to stay near Girdwood on our way from anchorage to Seward - to do some gold panning in the area. (However, it was cold and rainy and we ended up just driving to the panning area to have a look-see, nothing more.)
We didn't have advance reservations, so we were glad to get into the alta House - it fit our needs perfectly - just for one night's stay. Reasonable rates, as compared to other properties. But the cabin was dark inside and it could use some updating. I hope they fixed the rotting wood areas on the deck which could prove to be a safety issue. It's in a more residential area and was quiet. The photo looks better than it does (at least as I remember it, but it could have been the dreary weather.)
The girl working the office was very friendly and helpful. -

I love the idea and even the bears did too. Had a black bear come right up to the back of the cabin one day as it was strolling about the forests of Girdwood. The cabin would be awesome if it were bigger. Or if it were a lot cheaper for what you get.

This cabin was super awesome! It was very clean, organized, cute and comfy. Me and my boyfriend and three friends stayed at the cabin fot a mini bday celebration and we had a blast. We went snowboarding all day and came back to the cabin. We hung out in front of the fire place to warm up an listened to our iPhones through the stereo. The cabin is a block away from the sitzmark so we walked down and listened to a band. It was an amazing weekend!!

We stayed in the "Village Chalet". It was a great space for 4 people! We didn't even want to leave the living room; The gas fireplace was so inviting. The kitchen was larger than my own, and it was nice to have a dining room table for meals. We have rented may different places in Girdwood over the years, and this one was one of the best kept with a noticeably recent remodel. Location was good, parking was ample, and booking was convenient. The icing on the cake was an iPod cable hooked to the stereo so we could listed to our own music...not something you think about packing!
Next time we have a larger group we will rent out the whole Village! -

An attentive and helpful staff was just the first step in a great weekend. The location was just an easy walk to the mountain. The cabin was cozy and extremely clean. The gas fireplace kept us toasty all night. All in all a perfect weekend getaway.
