Mississauga, On, CanadaA home away from home
Left on 05/09/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We have made five visits to Queensgate and find it the ideal location for visiting family and friends in the Glasgow area. The beds are comfortable with nice linens and the kitchen is well equipped. The location is very convenient for shopping, public transit, and sightseeing. The art gallery and Museum, Botanic Gardens, and Transport Museum are within walking distance. The subway is close and takes you quickly into the city centre. Catherine and George, the owners are very friendly and helpful. For us a home away from home.

We stayed a total of 14 days, the first nine in the 'House' apartment and the last five in the 'Garden' apartment.
One tends to get spoiled in the 'house' as you have several large rooms, spanning the length of the property. Lots of light and spaciousness. Separate bedrooms give up to four people all the 'room' they need.
The 'Garden' apartment is perfectly fine for two people. Catherine and George were kind enough to put a small cot in the main room for my daughter to sleep in. Otherwise, with the high ceiling and large bay window, there is lots of light.
Both apartments have all the conveniences one needs - dishwasher, washing machine and a wide range of kitchen utensils. Wifi worked well in both units.
One of the main attractions of this property is its proximity to the West End of Glasgow, including the many shops, restaurants and pubs on Byres Road. Subway and buses are but two blocks away. We could walk to City Centre in 40 minutes (10 minutes by subway). Within walking distance of the apartment are many attractions. George and Catherine leave a binder of suggestions in the apartment and are always available for recommendations.
Outstanding hosts, a quality apartment and convenient location - one needs no more!

We, a family of three, felt very fortunate to have had the opportunity to stay at the Queensgate House apartment during our recent six-week stay in Glasgow. We are spending our sabbatical this year in various places in Italy and the United Kingdom. Of the six places we stayed this year, and the myriad vacation rentals we've stayed in over the past twelve years, Queensgate rates at the very very top. Its location is perfect for travelers wanting to be close to the University and/or West End. Close, but still in a quiet residential neighborhood. The apartment itself is very spacious with a kitchen on the lower-level, the foyer at ground-level, a sitting room at the next level up, and two bedrooms on the next level, and if you need, a third bedroom up yet another level. The apartment is clean, very well-adorned, and very very comfortable. The supplies in the kitchen are a-plus (cast iron pans even!) which made us feel like we were actually in a home, and not in the typical vacation rental with banged up and beaten kitchenware thrown together from various thrift shops. In short, we highly recommend Queensgate. We'll certainly plan on staying there the next time we are in Glasgow again.

Kenoza Lake, NYA country girl goes urban in a regal Edwardian Townhouse!
Left on 11/27/2012 for a stay in November 2012
We spent our uniquely american Thanksgiving holiday week in Glasgow and stayed in Catherine and George's lovely Edwardian Townhouse. It's like stepping back in time, but with all the modern conveniences. Others have said this apartment is more like a home... I couldn't agree more! We spent early mornings having breakfast in the roomy, modern kitchen, studying and plotting on our mobile phones and ipads our day's adventure in this historic country. In the evenings my husband retired to the comfy confines of the warm, cozy sitting room and often fell asleep reading a book. The kitchen is well equipped to create a fine meal gathered from the local butchers, cheese mongers and wine merchants. Loved the warm, cozy bed and down comforter and hot showers! (Next time a bath and a glass of wine in the tub!) The neighborhood is so earthy and quiet, (reminiscent of my quiet neighborhood in the country in the us), but less than a two minute walk from the bustling urban setting that is Byers Road. There is so much history in the city alone that even a full seven doesn't allow enough time. George and Catherine...we will be back someday and hope Queensgate House will be available! We loved every minute we spent there. If you go during winter months, consider a robe or sweater. I found keeping the doors closed to the kitchen, sitting and bedrooms helped keep the high ceilinged room a wee bit warmer in the evenings. Completely in love with this place and miss it already! `;-)

"Outstanding Rental appartment in Glasgow's West End"
A very nice self catering apartment/house within walking distance of many of Glasgow's finest attractions.
The property is outstanding with lots of room. The front of the House is locked down leaving one rear bedroom, a bathroom, a large well appointed kitchen and a very comfortable lounge.
The hall is spectacular and can be counted as an extra lounge.
There is also a toilet by the front door which is very handy and has been presented as a period room.
You are met by the owner who takes personal care of you on your arrival. A full introduction to all in the house and advice about the area. This is always a nice touch and makes for a good start.
The heating is good and you will be warm as toast even in the winter months.
Two televisions are included.
For an extra cost a second bedroom is available.
There is a small seating area outside which would be a real advantage if the rain holds off.
My wife and I were impressed by everything and recommend this property without reservation.
Great value for money!

We spent 17 fantastic nights in this beautiful home in the most convenient location in West Glasgow. We could walk everywhere (best restaurants and pubs right down the street). No car was necessary as we took the tube and trains everywhere outside our area. It was always so wonderful to return to our paradise. This is more than an apartment...it is really four floors of historic comfort. Fantastic kitchen for cooking (when we wanted to stay in). Relaxing family room where we laughed and shared family time after a long day exploring. The huge bedrooms, with plenty of storage, were so comfortable it made it hard to get up each day. Catherine and George, the owners, were wonderful. You feel welcome from the moment you arrive. I only wish I had stayed here last fall rather than spending two weeks in a hotel. Stop your searching...grab this beauty if you can. You will be so happy you did. Thank you, Catherine and George!

We loved the home - it is very tastefully decorated in the Victorian style and has every convenience. In particular the beda are very comfortable. The house is situated in the west end of Glasgow and is so convenient for shops. The owners are very friendly and helpful; I don't think we would have realised the underground existed without their help!
We had 3 days of warm sunshine so visited Loch Lomond and the Black mountains (Glencoe) - beautiful scenery. There is plenty to do in Glasgow too - we hardly had time to visit everything. Also visited my ancestral home - Thornhill -

We had a great stay at Queensgate House - a stunning house, right in the heart of the west end. Everything is walkable, from being able to nip down to get morning coffees and fresh bread, go to great restaurants and bars in the evening, and walk into the city centre through Kelvingrove Park - all of which we did. And lovely to pretend for a little while that we lived in such a stunning house in the most fashionable part of Glasgow! I would definitely use Queensgate House again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Queensgate. This is a beautifully cared for Edwardian townhouse in the lovely West End neighborhood convenient to the University, Byers Road shops and ashton Lane restaurants. We even found a terrific whiskey bar, the Lismore, at the bottom of Dowanhill Street.
Catherine and George are excellent hosts. Everything one needs is available, from guidebooks in the sitting room to a shopping cart in the kitchen.
If you love historic homes, this is the place for you! -

I stayed here for a week with three friends, and we were absolutely delighted by our stay: the apartment is beautiful, spacious, comfortable and well-equipped, and the owners were very helpful. The location is great too: shops, pubs, restaurants, a subway station (Hillhead) and Glasgow University are a five-minute walk away, but the neighborhood is extremely calm nonetheless; to make things even better, the taxi ride to or from Glasgow airport only lasts 15 to 20 minutes. We wholeheartedly recommend this place and will definitely be staying there again when we go back to Glasgow!

The apartment was beautifully clean & wonderfully comfortable & warm. It was such a luxury to have so much space.
The booking & welcome were handled very efficiently by Catherine & George and they accommodated a late checkout with no problem.
Overall, the apartment has everything you need and more. Good quality & excellent value for money. Everything you need is on your doorstep and Glasgow centre is a short subway ride away.

We were here for an extended stay (six weeks). The pictures on the Internet do not capture how nice this place is. VERY spacious and really feels like home. We took a short trip outside of Glasgow and it was terrific coming back to "home." Great location--short walk to Byres Road with shops, restaurants, grocery, transportation, etc.
Would absolutely stay here again if came back for a visit to Glasgow. Feel free to email with any questions -- --------. Nothing but positives for here!! -

Los Angeles, CaliforniaBeautiful turn-of-the century home with all the modern amenities
Left on 10/09/2011 for a stay in September 2011
This house -- it's too large and grand to be called an apartment -- was so much more than I expected, particularly given the price. A gorgeous multi-level home, recently remodeled with brand-new furnishings and appliances. Within walking distance of Byres Road, the University of Glasgow, and multiple bus routes. George and Catherine could not have been more accommodating -- even down to the fresh milk in the refrigerator. We have rented many vacation apartments in the past; this was by far the nicest. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
