This single storey detached cottage is located near the village of Glencar and is just eight miles from Killorglin, County Kerry and is able to sleep eight people in three bedrooms and two folding beds. Mountain Cottage is a single storey, detached cottage just two miles from the village of Glencar, and eight miles from Killorglin, County Kerry in the foothills of Ireland's highest mountain, Carrantouhill. Boasting three double bedrooms and two family bathrooms, this cottage can sleep up to eight people. The cottage also contains an open plan living area with a fitted kitchen, a dining area and a sitting room with a turf burning stove. Outsi...de this cottage is off road parking for four cars, cycle storage, a lawned garden with furniture and a BBQ as well as 300 acres of the owners' land to explore, including private lakes, woods and mountains. Set in stunning countryside and with plenty of home comforts, Mountain Cottage is a superb holiday home for all the family.

Amenities: Oil central heating with turf burning stove in sitting area. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, TV with basic Sky package, DVD, CD/radio. All fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Cot, highchair and 2 adult folding beds available. Off road parking for 4 cars. Cycle storage. Grassed area with furniture and BBQ, 300 acres of owners’ land to explore, including private lakes, woods and mountains. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop and pub 2 miles. Note: This property is accessed via a rough gravel track, and as such, may be unsuitable for low suspension vehicles such as sports cars. Note: Guests wishing to fish must bring their own rods - permits are available to purchase for €10 per day from the local Glencar Hotel.

Region: County Kerry is a mystical and unspoilt part of Ireland, with spectacular natural beauty and a fascinating history. Facing the Atlantic Ocean, it features many sandy beaches, rocky inlets and stunning peninsulas.

Town: Glencar is located in the centre of the region of Kerry otherwise known as "The Kingdom". Glencar is a nature lover's paradise surrounded by the mountain range Macgillycuddy Reeks, with Carrantouhill, Ireland's highest mountain, towering overhead. With hundreds of acres of forests and numerous lakes such as Lickeen Forest, Caragh River and Caragh Lake, Glencar offers wonderful scenery and great walking and angling opportunities. The village is home to 3 pubs including The Climbers' Inn, which offers good food and drink along with a post office and food store. The pretty town of Killorglin is within easy reach, the gateway to the Ring of Kerry, offering a variety of cafes, pubs and restaurants, while an abundance of sandy beaches and golf courses are within easy driving distance.Read more

All prices are inclusive of the booking fee. The "Min. Per Night" prices quoted are based on the weekly rental price, they are not applicable for short breaks. See our short break policy or ask for further details.
Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  My mother and I stayed here May/June 2012 for a week, and we loved it so much that we're busy saving up to go back next year for a fortnight. The cottage is immaculately presented and is set in a stunning location, well away from anyone or anything, however Killorglin is just a short drive away should you need anything. It was wonderful to be able to wake up in the morning and watch the mists roll back from the mountains - the only noise breaking the silence is the bleating of the sheep! The owners (Martha and Donal) are an absolute delight and made us feel so welcome. We really didn't want to leave. I would happily live here, and can't wait until I can go back there again.

  Rented the cottage for a family holiday - two adults, three boys 10-13. The property is lovely - we were a little concerned about the warning about the track leading to the cottage, but no issues for our fully laden Saab 95! The tranquility of the place is wonderful, and the views of the Carrantouhill range immediately opposite are a constant pleasure.
  
  Inside, the cottage is very weel equipped, and we had enjoyable evenings with the turf burning stove fired up - though this was just a nicety as the central heating was much more than adequate.
  
  Outside, the walled garden with its standing stones and stone barbecue, looking out over the lake and onto Caher and Beenkeragh mountains was perfect.
  
  If you are looking for a tranquil getaway with beautiful moutain and coastal scenery, then this is the place for you!

  Mountain Cottage is beautifully presented, very spacious, very clean and equipped with everything and more required for the perfect holiday. The location of the property and the private land is magnificent beyond words, with Ireland's highest mountain rising from the front door!
  By far the best cottage we have rented in Ireland and a great base from which to explore the Kerry Way! The kids aged 12,11 and 3 had a fabulous time and us big kids? Really an experience too good to share!!!
