Chicago, ILTerrific Getaway!
Left on 12/29/2011 for a stay in December 2011
My wife and I had never been to Barbados prior to our trip to Glitter Bay. We had heard great things, but coming from Chicago hadn't made the time or commitment to the trip until December 2011. We're glad we did!
Glitter Bay 308 was the perfect fit for our 6-day stay. We didn't spend much time in the condo, as the weather was amazing for practically all of our stay and we were busy exploring the island. But the condo itself was the perfect home away from home.
The location of Glitter Bay was perfect, in our opinion. It is set on the picture-perfect Platinum coast, within easy walking distance to a few great spots on the beach. It is also an easy trip into Holetown. We were skeptical of bus transportation and were going to take a car/taxi, but the bus actually worked out great. We even ventured down to the south coast to watch american football on the Sunday we were there (Bert's was great for that).
The food and restaurant choices on the island surprised us, in a good way. Pretty much every type of food you can think of, and definitely skewed towards the amazing seafood.
There was one downside on the trip, and it wasn't even enough to complain about. Once at Glitter Bay, it is difficult to get cash. You don't need cash, but it is good to have on you if you're visiting any of the beach-side very casual places because they don't take credit cards. So, when we go back again, we'll stock up on cash a little bit more than we did.
Back to Glitter Bay. Marilil from Barbados Villa Services, and all the staff at Glitter Bay, were fantastic. Once we got there, we had not a worry.
We would highly recommend Glitter Bay, and highly recommend staying in "Splendido" especially if you're traveling as a couple with no kids like we were. I'd post photos, but they don't do justice to the amazingly blue ocean water and beach.

Bath, EnglandPeaceful Paradise in excellent location
Left on 08/19/2010 for a stay in July 2010
Our first time to Barbados and as our 11 days passed we realised we had chosen the perfect location at Glitter Bay. The apartment was comfortable, very well equipped and in the kitchen many useful items provided for self catering. Daily maid service was discreet and beneficial. It was lovely sitting on the balcony for meals looking out on the tall palms, lawns and sea. The site was peaceful, a minute's wander from our apartment and we were on the sandy beach, the sea warm and good for swimming. The provided sunbeds and towels made relaxing very easy and the bar area for snacks and drinks was a bonus. The staff were helpful and friendly and the service from Barbados Villa Rentals was excellent. We enjoyed daily walks along the beach where there were a couple of restaurants and a water sports centre. The large pool was a heavenly temperature and empty through most of our stay. One can walk along the road to Groots restaurant (basic - a bit over rated) and further along to Holetown where there is a supermarket, various shops, a small mall, fuel station and a good selection of restaurants. We experienced really amazing (though quite pricey) cuisine at The Tides, Daphnes, Mango's by the Sea, The Fish Pot, and enjoyable Bajan buffets at The Beach House and atlantis Hotel. These restaurants have lovely ocean settings. A trip to the Earthworks pottery and art shop inland offered an excellent diversion and delicious lunch wraps at the café. We visited the Kensington Oval and experienced a final, national T 20 cricket match for a few pounds - great atmosphere! Most of the island was accessible by bus but we enjoyed exploring in our hire car. Despite some heavy rain in July we were able to lie in the sun every day and would definitely consider returning at this time of the year because of the delightful and peaceful ambiance at Glitter Bay. Would recommend the apartment and location without hesitation.
