"True" ski-in/ski-out home - We've rented places the called themselves ski-in/ski-out and find ourselves disappointed when the owners took liberty with the term. This home is a "TRUE" ski-in/ski-out home. You can ski down "Bail Out" trail, look to the left and see the back of the home. Turn you skis off the trail, ski down 40 feet and you are at the back door. And when you want to get back on the slopes, put the skis back on and ski out the neighborhood down to the gon...Read more

Additional Location Information
Kicking Horse Mountain - We love to ski and we love this mountain. It's huge and always has soft powder somewhere (even in spring). It has bumps, chutes, bowls, trees, glades, cornices, cliffs, terrain parks, back country and even bunny slopes, magic carpets, long meandering blues ("It's a 10" - 10 km long). We take several ski trips a year all over the US, Canada and the World and chose Kicking Horse because it is the total package. Come try it (again) and we think you'll agree.
And in the summer the resort turns into a hiker and biker playground with an incredible number and variety of mountain bike and hiking trails. Take a ride to the top and have a 5 star lunch or dinner at the Eagles Eye restaurant with an incredible 360 degree view for miles of the incredible Canadian Rockies. Or go golfing at one of the most beautiful courses in Canada at the Golden Golf Club just 5 minutes from the home. And perhaps the coolest attraction is the Grizzly habitat. Take the chairlift and meet "Boo", Kicking Horse Resort's famous resident grizzly. Get within a few feet of him, taking wonderful pictures and learning about this magnificent natural wonder from the preserve's funny and knowledgeble staff.
Columbia Rivery Valley - An incredible outdoor activity wonderland. Golden is just 10 minutes down the road that leads up to the mountain. At the junction of the Kicking Horse and Columbia rivers, this is a water lover's paradise with jet boats, rafting, canoing, fishing or just walking along the river's edge in peace and solitude. Golden is the para- and hang gliding capitol of Canada. People have launched off of Mount Seven and flown all the way to the US on the valley's thermals. Golden has great shopping and restaurants all while maintaining a small town charm and friendliness.

Toronto, Canadawondeful ski in/out house
Left on 03/31/2013 for a stay in March 2013
This place is big, comfortable, with all amenities neccesary for a wonderful ski holiday. Make sure you bring all of the neccesities i.e. food and beverages up with you from Golden. My local convenience store in Toronto has more selection than the on hill General Store. Minor complaint . This place has all required for a large group. Highly recommended

Calgary, CanadaPerfect Mountain Chalet
Left on 12/20/2012 for a stay in December 2012
We were invited to a wedding in K-Ho and ended up enjoying so much more.
Grizzly Chalet felt like home, every detail attended to. Comfortable beds, warm...heated floors everywhere. Beautiful granite counters, top of the line kitchen utensils.
Although the snow fall was desired it was a bonus to park in the garage. Plenty of parking on the driveway as well.
The snow boarders in our group boarded right up to the chalet at the end of the day.
The amenities were exactly as listed and the owners are quick to respond to any questions or concerns. Everything worked perfectly, Satellite TV, Internet/Wifi, computer and printer, hot tub etc.
The damage deposit was promptly returned in full the day after we left.
From start to finish a wonderfull experience and the owners a pleasure to deal with. -

CalgaryBeautiful and clean home nestled in the most picturesque neighbo
Left on 07/19/2012 for a stay in July 2012
My friends and I do an annual trip out to Kicking Horse to get some mountain biking and white water rafting done. Usually we rent condos right on the resort at Kicking Horse. However, this year we tried renting this house and I will never go back to renting condos ever again.
This house was amazing! Something straight out of the movies. All the furniture and bedding were new and super comfortable. All the technology in the house was a huge bonus, which included wifi internet for smartphones and laptops, Ipod dock, LCD Tv's, very nice speaker system, heated floors, and aC! Not to mention the games room with ping pong, billiards, and air hockey!
The cleanliness was a 10/10. As a huge germaphobe I went to every room and checked all the sheets and bedding and they were to the point I thought everything was brand new. The bathrooms were immaculate and handsoap, towels, and even slippers to wear inside the house and hot tub were provided!
The owner of the house was very accomodating for our group and replied emails very quickly. I questioned his damage deposit of $1000 cash (sent via email money transfer) but completely understood why he asked for this as the house is immaculate and has thousands of dollars worth of technology and amenities that most rental units do not have (personally I would ask for more than just a $1000 deposit!!). After the house inspection was completed by his staff I was promptly returned my $1000 deposit (via email money transfer) the very next day after I got home from the trip with a confirmation email from the owner. He provided emergency local contact information for every situation that could possibly go wrong and even included his personal cell.
All in all I will definately be returning to this house and have absolutely nothing negative to say about my stay here. My entire group has now asked me to book this house every year!
Thank you! -

Austin, TexasGreat times at the Grizzly Chalet & Kicking Horse
Left on 03/07/2011 for a stay in February 2011
Grizzly Chalet is a beautiful ski-in/ski-out home located at the base of Kicking Horse. It accommodated our party of 10.
Check-in is easy and convenient.
The kitchen opens up to a nice view of the mountains (opposite of Kicking Horse) and a large nook that can seat 8 comfortably. Lots of appliances and cooking utensils for home cooking.
Clean bed sheets and couches with spare sheets available.
Plenty of towels for each bathroom and hot tub, as well as flip flops to get to the hot tub.
Hot tub is very close to the house which makes easy access.
Bathroom near the hot tub/back door. Hot water was fast and didn't encounter any issues.
Floor heating and Hvac made for comfortable temperatures.
Location is great with true ski-in/ski-out. Ski-out requires snowboarders to walk across intersection, but that's it. Ski-in may take you down a few houses if you exit from green trail. A more secluded cut from the trail takes you straight to the backyard.
Security key locks worked for the most part (did act strange a couple of times).
Light panels have labels for ease of use.
Garage has pegs for ski and snowboard equipment as well as shovels in case a lot of powder hits Kicking Horse (over 2 feet during my visit).
Gas fireplace with vents to warm up the living area which is well lit in the day. Huge LCD TV for movies and Xbox for games.
Game room downstairs has small air hockey/billiards table for entertainment. Hot Tub and Game Room could use speakers, but no complaints since I enjoyed the conversations during my stay. Futon is comfortable.
Gas grill on the front side patio.
Study has a desktop for internet access and printer.
Laundry room has supplies and two dryers. The normal horizontal load and a closet style. Both work great to dry up soaked inner wear from a day full of powder runs in the bowls.
Couple blocks from pub/restaurant/grocery store.
Great, beautiful, cozy place for 10 powder hounds skiing Kicking Horse. -

Dallas, TXAwesome ski in, ski out lodge
Left on 03/05/2011 for a stay in February 2011
What a treat to put your skis on in the driveway and ski right to the lifts. Then, ski right down to the house at the end of the day. Beautiful and spacious house for a group. Snow was fluffy, plentiful, and made for great scenery from the outdoor hot tub. Special dryer for gloves and other gear was a nice touch. We walked to nearby Corks restaurant for fun apres ski and $10 pizza & beer special. If you have a group in the winter, don't miss the tubing!

Left on 02/21/2011 for a stay in February 2011
The home was well appointed and spacious and felt very comfortable for all of the people that were staying there. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking in, and the beds were most comfortable. I loved the hot tub right out the door with the flip flops and towels provided as you went out. There was lots of room for two cars in the garage, and for skis, boots, and gear right inside the lower entrance door next to the garage. Very handy! The views were wonderful, and we could ski right down to the lift and get tickets and ski right back to the house at the end of the day. Kicking Horse mountain is wonderful, and we had a wonderful week of snow and skiing. I highly recommend this home for your next visit.

We spent a weekend skiing at Kicking Horse. The Grizzly Chalet was the perfect accommodations for our group. There were plenty of beds for everyone. The hot tub was great after a fun day on the hill. Being able to ski in and out was very convenient. The location couldn't have been any better. We'll be back for sure.

Denver, COLeave the vacation planning to the owners of the Grizzly Chalet!
Left on 01/03/2011 for a stay in July 2010
Our week stay at the Grizzly Chalet was one of the most stress free vacations I've had. My husband and I didn't know too much about the area, so we put our trust into the owners of the Chalet, who put together an impressive array of information and recommendations of things to do. Every place we dined and activity we chose to do was excellent! The home they have created is beautiful yet comforting and is stocked over and beyond with living essentials. For example, we've rented a few different vacation homes in the past and most times when we go to make a meal at home, there is always some kitchen gadget or utensil that we need and have to go buy or bring ourselves. At the Grizzly Chalet there is no reason to pack for cooking at home! The city of Golden is delightful and the views from the house and at the top of Kicking Horse are breathtaking. I highly recommend staying at the Grizzly Chalet, Golden BC.
