Okotoks, CanadaA Home away from the Hill
Left on 04/17/2013 for a stay in February 2012
If you don't feel the need to be right on the ski hill this is an excellent alternative. We travelled with our two teenage sons and a friend for each. The cabin is spacious up to date and well equipped. The hot tub provides that welcome respite at the end of a long day on Kickinghorse Mountain. The drive to the hill is only 15-20 minutes and well worth it for those who like to cater for themselves.

Saskatoon, CanadaIt was a shame we couldn[--]t stay longer
Left on 08/28/2012 for a stay in August 2012
The manager of the property was very helpful and down to earth. After taking a quick tour of the property we'd regretted the fact that we did not book a longer stay. We're seriously considering returning to this place. The Cabin overlooks the scenic Kicking Horse Valley, provides all of the amenities of home, a fire pit (wood and axe), hot tub and hammock. If you arrive in august the cabin is surrounded with carmine jewel cherries and saskatoon berry bushes which we were able to pick fruit from to enjoy with breakfast. If you are traveling with a family there is a small hand crafted play house in the back yard for kids to enjoy. The only two things that would have made this place even better would be an allowance for pets (we were not traveling with our dog, but would be in the future) and a stereo equipped with an auxillary-in jack or ipod dock so we could play our own tunes. We highly recommend Smiley Wolf.

Calgary, CanadaSmiley Wolf - "a gem in the woods"
Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
My husband had booked Smiley for our family to stay at. Not until we actually pulled up to the front did we have any idea what kind of wonderful get away we were going to. Breathtaking!!! Smiley Wolf was the perfect place for relaxation. It was fully equipted and we were impressed by the cleanliness and the warmth of it all. Between having a fire and roasting marshmellows at night, Bbqing on the deck, relaxing in the hammock or going into the hot tub, Smiley Wolf is a wonderful place to go and I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. I keep telling my husband that I want to go back.

Calgary, CanadaQuality cabin in beautiful and quiet surroundings
Left on 07/08/2012 for a stay in November 2011
We stayed at Smiley Wolf for a relaxing weekend in November. The cabin is top quality: the kitchen is rather well equipped, the beds are perfect and with two bathrooms and a hot tub there's plenty of opportunity for a soak. The large plot provides privacy yet it's not remote. Golden is just a five minute drive and has everything you'll need, while there's virtually unlimited opportunity to enjoy the outdours in the immediate surroundings.

Calgary, CanadaGreat place to warm up after a day in the outdoors
Left on 10/25/2011 for a stay in October 2011
The Smiley Wolf was a great place to return to after a day spent canoeing and fishing at local lakes. The chill of the fall day was easily replaced by the warmth of the hot tub and wood stove. There was lots of room for my young sons and the three adults in our party to relax in comfort. Property manager is very helpful and everything is as advertised!

Calgary, CanadaSuper cozy and relaxing
Left on 04/22/2011 for a stay in January 2011
We've stayed at Smiley Wolf twice now in the winter and have thoroughly enjoyed both of our visits. This cabin is nestled in the trees on Mount Seven, just outside of Golden. A round trip from the house to the grocery store in Golden and back again takes less than half an hour (and that includes time in the grocery store!). It is only about 30 min from door to lift at Kicking Horse Mountain or the Dawn Mountain ski trails and very close to several local hiking and biking trails. But beyond the benefits of the location, there is something just special about this place. It is impossible to feel anything but relaxed when you walk in the door. The log walls, wood-burning stove, hot tub, open kitchen all invite you in and say "sit down and enjoy!" The bedrooms are very well appointed with log furniture and very comfortable beds, and the main floor is stocked with everything you need for a wonderful break from the real world. Oh, and I almost forgot... just outside the cabin your little ones will find a pint-sized play house that promises to provide hours of entertainment (at least it did for my kids!). And if you are travelling with kids, there is a lovely old claw-footed tub in the upstairs bathroom...

Great place. Spacious, clean, cozy, gorgeous lot and view of the mtn from the hot tub after a wicked day skiing. It's a winter wonderland. I can hardly wait to go back in the summer and enjoy the sunny decks and walks through the forest behind the house!!

Left on 04/02/2011 for a stay in February 2011
Very comfortable beds. Nice fireplace with gear drying rack. Large comfortable hot tub with great views to the mountains across the valley. Easy 5 min drive into Golden, 15 minute drive to Kicking Horse ski hill, 30 min to Rogers Pass back-country skiing. Even with the 7 adults we had, there was still plenty of room for cooking, eating, gear storage and relaxing. Wifi worked with no hitches to get weather reports and avalanche info. Very clean throughout!

Calgary,ABSuper Place to Stay - comfy and great value
Left on 03/31/2011 for a stay in February 2011
A group of us stayed at this fabulous comfortable cabin in Feb 2011.
The cabin is very well laid out, everything we needed was there. (kitchen, fireplace, music, tv, wi-fi internet) The beds were very comfortable, the hot tub is perfectly located on the side of the cabin with terrific views and very private.
Two of us went to Kicking Horse ski resort - an easy 15 minute drive up to the hill. The rest of the gang went to Rogers Pass for b/c skiing - again easy access. Dowtown Golden for shopping and provisions is 5 minutes away - perfect. bonus - There is a great drying rack system for all your gear after a day of activities. -

I stayed there over New Years 2011. The cabin, the snow, the fire place and the hottub were all perfect. We skied at Kicking Horse and toured around Roger's Pass. This is what you think of when you think of a cabin in the wood's.You can't see another place from the cabin, just trees and a view of the mountians.

Calgary, CanadaGreat getaway - cozy log cabin
Left on 03/31/2011 for a stay in February 2011
We went to the cabin with a bunch of friends for a well deserved weekend away from the kids - and it was just as promised! Winter - wonderland on you doorstep; wood burning stove, really cozy and relaxing. Bedrooms are fairly spacious, hot tub was great - and the overall experience was just fantastic (did I mention it was weekend without kids...)!
The cabin is tucked away from the road - but we found it quite fast to go to Golden to stock up on supplies. Easy anyway because we went for a day of backcountry skiing at rogers pass and a day at the resort (25 minute drive to Kicking Horse). Way better than staying in one of the hotels in town. We had 7 people in the cabin - didn't feel cramped and brought the price down to less what you'd pay in a hotel in Golden.
Great place, definitely recommended. -

Great place to stay, secluded & private set in a lovely spot. Cosy cabin with superb hot tub and lovely decor. Spacious bedrooms and great living space on the ground floor with exposed wood beams adding to the country cabin feel. Kitchen is fun to cook great meals for friends & open concept keeps everyone involved. Wood burning fire adds to the cosy, warm feel and is efficient. Great mtn biking trails not far from the cabin lovely fall riding.
