LondonComfortable stay in friendly, local community with easy access t
Left on 04/16/2012 for a stay in December 2011
Hardy types may like to dash into the sea at Gorran Haven on New Year's Day but we left that to others while we slept off the frolics of New Year's Eve in our cosy cottage. After a celebration meal in the sweet kitchen, we had taken a fresh air stroll down to the small harbour in time to share Gorran's midnight fireworks let off into the New Year sky from the harbour wall. With a bottle of bubbly and plastic mugs in our gloved hands it was a brilliant, magical way to see in the New Year.
Duloe Cottage is tucked away at the end of a quiet road on the edge of the village and offers clean, freshly updated traditional ground-floor living with all mod cons - and the tranquillity of a large garden overlooking the surrounding countryside.
Gorran gave us a quiet stay in a friendly community with local shop and a very good bar at the hotel up on the cliff. It is amazing for windswept cliff walks to clear away the cobwebs and admire breathtaking scenery and plan which beaches to visit in the summer. Nearby is Mevagissey, a lively town where we encountered lots of young people excitedly preparing for New Year's Eve celebrations. And on New Year's Day - when we finally found the energy to leave the cottage - we visited The Eden Project just a few miles away. We had a fantastic time - we have to go back to do what we didn't have time for this visit. Something for all ages - including our demanding teenage son. Fowey - home to Daphne du Maurier - is also a short drive away. We loved its little streets, attractive harbour and browsing in all the arty shops and boutiques.
We found out that you don't have to do Cornwall just in summer. A great mix of leisure and activity. -

LondonA relaxing stay in a lovely house in a lovely village
Left on 04/12/2012 for a stay in October 2011
This is a fabulously well organised rental, extremely comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing stay. It is in the attractive village of Gorran Haven and coastal walks are in very easy reach. Glorious beach just over the brow of the hill - perfect for an autumn or a spring stroll. People were bathing when I was there, but I kept my clothes on.
The situation is also well placed for trips to the magnificent Lost Gardens of Heligan,( really just up the road) and the Eden project. We also went to Falmouth, catching the boat over from St Mawes, and exploring the excellent maritime museum which is great for children as well as grown ups. A really lovely half term break
