On the Rocks is set on the most wonderful stretch of beach - we enjoyed a daily stroll for miles along the beautiful sandy beach without seeing a soul - very rare in this now hectic world!

Beautiful, private and tranquil. The crashing of the waves 'On the rocks' is soothing and swimming is easy. We loved the untrammelled view of beach and ocean and the mile walk down to snaffle a mojito. The house is pretty glorious, elegant, with lots of elbow room and an easy run into town for supplies.

My first trip to the Bahamas turned out to be an incredible experience. I couldn't believe the property we found to stay. It far exceeded my expectations for location, view, beach access, activities, and convenience. "On the Rocks” has two homes, we stayed in the main house, and although the adjacent cottage was rented for a couple of the same days, we never saw or heard our neighbors from the house.
If you are looking to spend time on a sandy pink beach swimming and snorkeling, or relaxing on deck chairs on the lawn reading and enjoying the view, then this is the place for you. The location is private, but not isolated, with ready access to the town of Governor's Harbour, local farmers market, deli and bakery nearby. We chose fresh fish in the afternoons as the fisherman brought them to town to sell and made dinner at the house. Alternatively, you can walk barefoot up the beach to dine at Tippy's restaurant, no need to use the road. And several evenings, we traveled to the western side of the island to experience the sunset while sipping drinks from the deck of one of the eating establishments.
The central living/dining space was spacious and airy, with sliding glass doors the entire length of one side giving way to the patio, lawn, and beach beyond. The house's layout provides privacy for each bedroom (each with its own bathroom). This property worked exquisitely for a group of friends sharing a holiday; a wonderful balance of snorkeling & swimming, beachcombing (the beach is full of shells), tranquil reading and relaxing, socializing, and sightseeing.

We are return visitors to the property and each time discover more to love about the place.
The beds are comfortable, the people very friendly and helpful, the beach below the house must be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world...It is a perfect setting for a wonderful vacation! -

On the Rocks sits overlooking the most beautiful beach I have ever seen - and I have been fortunate to travel to some amazing places. The houses are completely charming, with spectacular views of the ocean. I generally wouldn't take the time to write a review but feel compelled to do so because this was truly a special place. If you are looking for a low-key, secluded and beautiful get-away beach vacation, I would recommend you look no further.

A group of us spent a wonderful ten days at On The Rocks. It was exactly what we all needed...a relaxing holiday on a stunning beach. We explored the island, went for cocktails at Tippy's (bar & restaurant at end of beach) build bonfires on the beach, cooked huge dinners with delicious local produce from the island farm, and spent most days swimming, snorkling and fishing off the beach at the house. We went off fishing on day up at Hatchet Bay and visited harbour Island for a night to do night driving with was amazing!
It is a great house for those that want to relax, enjoy the beach and this wonderful island.
So lovely to get de-stress and enjoy nature! -

We had a wonderful stay at On The Rocks, a beautiful house set on the water where you wake up to paradise on your doorstep. The beautifully decorated house has 4 well proportioned bedrooms, all ensuite, with a large central living area with access onto the front garden which leads down to the beach. When you arrive at the beach you realise that it's your own private beach, with no other houses in close proximity! At the far end there is a nice local bar/restaurant called Tippy's which is a perfect spot to watch the sunset with an island cocktail. We went snorkeling every day, with different encounters every trip from turtles and baby rays to beautiful tropical fish. If you are after a good relaxing spot to take family or friends I couldn't recommend this house enough. And staying on the island of Eleuthera makes it even more magical, a true Bahamian experience. If you are the active type there is a wealth of activities available with a rental shop for kayaking etc. nearby. We also went reef fishing with a local fisherman called Captain Z which was an incredible experience. All of this information is easily found in the house directory. Enjoy!
