Left on 09/09/2012 for a stay in August 2012
My husband, baby and I stayed here in august 2012. While the apartment is fairly spacious and the location is okay, I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it to others wanting to stay in Grainau.
Firstly, it's quite expensive for what you get, and we were charged an additional €60 fee (taken from our deposit) for cleaning after we vacated the apartment, which we felt was extremely unreasonable given that we were told no further instruction other than to leave the apartment 'clean', which we felt we did (also, bearing in mind that this property is marketed specifically to those with small children, who tend to create a bit more of a mess).
In addition, be aware that the although the amenities of the flat as advertised state that it includes a dvd player, washer (washing machine) and sofabed, none of these items were actually there; the absence of a washing machine in particular made things very difficult (again, especially as the property is marketed to those with small children, for whom a washing machine is usually essential).
The main factor that made this apartment an unfortunate choice however was the management, who were extremely unhelpful and rude; the map provided to us situated the property at an identical address in the next town (as does the current Tripadvisor map!), so when we duly turned up and telephoned to say that we had arrived, we were told that we weren't in the right place, but were given no assistance or help to get to the apartment - the exact opposite in fact, the phone was hung up on us! Being stranded in the wrong town with a small baby and with no idea how to reach the apartment was very upsetting for us. We had to rely on the help of a complete stranger who luckily spoke English and was able to order us a taxi. When we arrived at the property we were also made to feel like the misdirection was our fault and that our late arrival had been a huge inconvenience.
All in all, there are definitely better value, better situated apartments available in Grainau, and with proprietors who will not make you feel like you've been ripped off.Response from Live Like a German - 10/08/2012

Manchester, United KingdomDo not stay here
Left on 09/05/2012 for a stay in August 2012
There is nothing wrong with this apartment, which is spacious and well placed for a family holiday in Grainau. However, the landlady is dishonest, extremely unhelpful and rude. I travelled here with my wife and baby. Although we followed correctly the map provided by the agent 'Live Like a German', it turned out that this brought us to the wrong address. Despite having no car and a small baby with us, and having walked from Garmish railway station, the landlady offered us no help at all in finding the correct address about a mile away. Not only did she not offer us a lift in her car (which appears would have been easy for her), she even hung up the phone on us as we tried to explain our predicament. We had to rely on the help of a very nice lady who lived at the address to which we had been directed by the website.
After our stay here we were stung by an extra €60 'cleaning bill' that the landlady claimed to incur as a result of our leaving the apartment 'overly dirty'. This was simply not the case and we feel that the landlady took advantage of us and of a way of adding another €60 onto the price of the apartment (which isn't cheap to begin with).
We advise all visitors to Grainau to avoid this apartment and stay somewhere where they will be treated in a respectful and helpful way.Response from Live Like a German - 10/08/2012

Live Like a German has worked with the landlady for many years and she has been nothing but wonderful to work with. I am sorry for the way you felt you were treated. The cleaning fee was added due to an unusually unclean apartment. We have never had to use any of the security deposit of our guests in our 4.5 years in business. This is the first time.
We can warmly recommend not only this apartment but also the service of the owners. I am sorry for all your troubles though and wish you the best.
