Beeing part of it - Granada

Left on 05/03/2013 for a stay in April 2013

Arriving the appartement, we felt beeing at home in a foreign country. The atmospere, the technical equipment and the hosting by Carlos Martin are excellent. Everything was clean and in a super condition. Most we loved was beeing in the middle of Granada as soon as we closed the door behind us and on the other hand to spend our morning- and evening-hours on our terrace under the blossoming Glycinia. To stay in a Distance of 15 mins. per foot to the alhambra means to be privilaged.

Lovely apartment in a great location

Left on 04/21/2013 for a stay in April 2013

The apartment is beautiful, spacious and very comfortably furnished. It has a well-equipped kitchen, large double bedroom (with comfortable bed -- with an additional single bed) and a double sofa bed in the lounge/dining room. The lounge/dining room is spacious and light, and has a comfortable seating area with a modern TV and DVD player, plus a large dining table. The bathroom has a nice, powerful shower. There is also a large storage cupboard, and a small patio with seating for four, and lovely flowers in pots.

The location was fantastic: it was about 15 minutes' walk uphill to the alhambra, and the central shopping district and cathedral were even closer. Nearby amenities were great: there was a supermarket, delicatessen, greengrocer, bakeries, banks and lots of great bars and cafés within five minutes' walk.

Carlos was an excellent host. He responded very promptly to e-mails and met us exactly on time. We particularly appreciated that he provided us with a map and told us where to find shops and restaurants, and then also e-mailed us an extensive list of recommended bars and restaurants. He went out of his way to make the stay pleasant, for example by providing us with some fruit and vegetables, butter and jam, and cut flowers in the living room. We can't recommend the apartment highly enough.

      Clean and excellent location!

Left on 04/04/2013 for a stay in March 2013

My family of 4 stayed at Casa La Glicinia for 4 nights over the March Break. The place is very clean, has a well equipped kitchen, and a nice living room area. And the attached garage to the building was a real bonus! The neighbourhood's not rich & fancy but still felt very safe and had Pubs & restaurants near by for good, cheap food. And you can't beat the location. We walked to alhambra! Actually we walked everywhere in Granada. Carlos was very helpful and fruit & flowers prepared by his wife was very welcoming. The size of the apartment would be perfect for family of 4 with young kids. Our kids were big teenagers so having 1 bathroom was a bit challenge but everything else was perfect so at this price & location, it's an excellent accommodation. Thanks Carlos!

Left on 03/21/2013 for a stay in January 2013

Well situated near Campo Del Principe where you will find a range of places to eat or drink (try El Trasgu which was our favourite) and just a short walk to the centre of Granada, Casa La Glicinia was a comfortable stay and our host Carlos was very welcoming. There is lots of space, a comfortable bed, good lounge area, a washing machine, modern bathroom with a spacious and quality shower. Central Heating was good and seems to be on a timer. Wifi is a little patchy upstairs in the bedroom but no major problems really - so otherwise we enjoyed our stay here.

A perfect stay in a great apartment!

Left on 01/17/2013 for a stay in December 2012

This apartment in Granada is the best I've ever rented in Spain (and I did rent a lot before). The location is great, close to the alhambra en still very close to everything else you want to see and do in Granada and surroundings. Carlos, the owner, thought things over really well: the house is well-designed, very comfortable (even in winter, with nice heating) and has everything you need for a pleasant and convenient stay (you're not camping in an abandoned house, like others sometimes offer). We got great advices from Carlos too: for tickets and trips, perfect restaurants, great walks above the city and nice Christmas cookies!

A wonderful apartment in old Granada

Left on 01/17/2013 for a stay in November 2012

My wife and I stayed in this apartment for four nights in November, 2012. The owner, Carlos Martin, met us nearby and took us down a pedestrian street to his lovely apartment. He spent more than an hour showing us around, giving us maps and information on the area, and answering our questions. The apartment was large, well furnished and attractive. The bed was large and very comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and included such staples as tea and coffee, olive oil, sugar, etc, and there were also flowers and fruit for us. The wifi connection was excellent and there was a large tv (with, as far as we found, only Spanish stations). We could have stayed there happily for a week or more. Shopping (a fish market, small supermarket, bakery and green grocer) were less than ten minutes away, as was a bus stop if one didn't want to walk up to the alhambra or down to the center of the city (easily done if you don't mind a few hills). We cooked at home much of the time since it was cold outside and we were in the middle of a longer trip and had eaten in restaurants a lot. We were also happy to have a washing machine with detergent provided.
We liked everything about the apartment and would rate the location in the old Jewish quarter of Granada excellent - quiet, convenient, lived in by locals yet close to the tourist attractions.

Left on 01/17/2013 for a stay in December 2012

Very well thought-through, very comforable and well-heated apartment in the old centre of Granada. A most convenient location for visiting the alhambra and other Granada highlights. Close to good restaurants. Very kind and helpful owner who gave a lot of advice and helped us organize our visit. Much better that the usual rental apartment: more atmosphere, more comfort, ecxellent facilities. A real find.

A Wonderful apartment in Historic Granada

Left on 01/05/2013 for a stay in November 2012

My husband and I rented Casa Glicinia for four nights at the end of November. It really outdid our expectations! The owner, Carlos, once lived in the house and is an architect. The apartment is beautifully designed and furnished and had everything we needed to feel completely at home. We stayed in the middle of a three-week trip to Spain and were glad to have a space to spread out, a kitchen to do our own cooking for a change, and a washing machine. Basics such as coffee, tea, olive oil, fruit and even laundry detergent were provided. Carlos spent as much time as needed telling us about the neighborhood, providing information on restaurants and shops, etc. His office is connected to the house and so he is usually available during the week should you need help or have questions. A super market, bakery, green grocer and fishmonger are within a ten minute walk and downtown is no more than 15-20 minutes. The alhambra is just 15 minutes (uphill!). We loved the neighborhood and the apartment and would be delighted to come back and spend a week next time.

      5 star Granada apartment!

Left on 11/06/2012 for a stay in October 2012

Casa la Glinicia is a gem! The apartment is very spacious and bright with every amenity to make your stay comfortable. It is within walking distance of the alhambra, Albayzin, the Cathedral, city centre and great restaurants. Carlos could not have been a more gracious host, from start to finish. He met us promptly and spent a great deal of time reviewing all that Granada has to offer, as well as arranging for our taxi upon departure. We loved our week in Granada, which was enhanced by the beautiful apartment and the owner, Carlos. We highly recommend Casa la Glinicia!!

Fabulous, clean, central, spacious, great service by owner

Left on 10/01/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We spent 5 nights at this apartment and loved every part of it. It was clean, spacious and well fitted out and most importantly value for money. We loved that it was in a lane way of Granada in a residential area, but at the end of the lane way was bar after bar, a supermarket and wonderful eating options. It is a 10 minute walk to the essential alhambra and 10 minutes to the Cathedral (centre of town). Carlos the owner was brilliant, he showed us on maps the best places to go, gave us a list of his favorite eating places and best day trips by bus; he even advised us the time of the Real Madrid soccer game playing that day!. When I had strained leg muscle, Carlos arranged a physio to visit our apartment and on our last morning (when we handed over the keys) Carlos booked us a taxi to the airport. We will reccomend this place to all of our travelling freinds, especially as Carlos will also have a 2 bedroom apartment opening upstairs later in the year!

Excellent apartment in great location in Granada

Left on 09/16/2012 for a stay in August 2012

I stayed for 6 nights and had a great time. The apartment has everything you need for a relaxing stay, with good air con to deal with the heat of summer. It's very clean, tastefully furnished (some might find the bathroom a little small) and private. The location is wonderful in the old Jewish part of the city, and just 15 minutes walk to the alhambra, the Catherdral etc. Loads of good restaurants a few minutes walk away. The owner Carlos was excellent to deal with - prompt replies to emails and good friendly advice when you arrive. The apartment is good value too; I'll stay there again when next in Granada.

      Excellent stay!

Left on 09/13/2012 for a stay in September 2012

This apartment is really fantastic!! Very well situated just a few blocks from restaurants, the alhambra and the city center. It's very large with a combined living/dining area, a reasonable and well equipped kitchen, nice sized bath and bed rooms. The bedroom is up just a few steps from the rest of the apartment-but no problem! The bedroom has 1 large (king or queen?) bed and 1 twin bed-both in 1 room. There is also a lovely patio for your private use. (We understand that another unit is under consideration, so you may have to share in the future.)

Quite neighborhood where we felt very safe. Once you get to Granada, you'll understand why, but, the owner had us meet him at a church around the corner from the apartment as it's just easier for the taxi. He then walked us to the apartment and provided a very efficient and friendly check in. Mad props for his tip on wines from the Ribera del Duero region! The owner is very very helpful and friendly.

I would highly recommend this apartment to a friend who is traveling to Granada!

      Great stay in Granada!!!

Left on 07/01/2012 for a stay in May 2012

My fiancé and I stayed in this beautiful apartment on our recent visit to Granada for 2 nights in May 2012. From the minute we inquired about the property until the day we left Granada the apartment owner, Carlos Martin could not have been nicer and more welcoming. Upon arrival, Carlos personally greeted us and showed us around the apartment and gave us a briefing on the local area. The apartment was warm and inviting and one of the cleanest and well equipped apartments we stayed in during our 4 city, 2 week vacation through Spain. The kitchen was well equipped with everything needed for a simple breakfast to a gourmet dinner, including stocked oils, vinegars, coffee and other condiments. The apartment even has an orange juicer and Carlos mentioned on our arrival that his wife left a nice fruit basket for our personal use which had fresh local oranges perfect for the juicer and our morning breakfast. The bedroom was wonderful and included a day bed for extra people, the kind size bed was so comfortable and welcoming after long days of walking. The bathroom was perfect, with a great shower that easily fit my 6' frame and wonderful towels and amenities. The apartment also had 2 outdoor sitting areas, one as your enter the apartment, surrounded by beautiful flowers and plants the other on a loft perfect for having coffee or a glass of wine. The apartment is located in the heart of Granada and only a 10 minute cab from the main bus station and 15 minute walking distance to the alhambra and 10 minutes to many local shopping and wonderful restaurants. My fiancé and I travel extensively, and can say that this is one of the best values in travel, and without doubt Carlos is one of the kindest, most caring apartment owners we've ever met. If we ever get back to Granada will certainly be back and stay with you again Carlos. Thank you for such a wonderful stay in Granada and best wishes to you!!

      Exceptional value

Left on 06/04/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Knowing months beforehand that we had five days in Granada planned I did an extensive internet search for a suitable apartment to rent. Eventually settled on this apartment as it looked good, was in a good location and within our price range. The manager kept in email contact in the period leading up to our arrival and then when we were in Spain on the way to Granada by telephone to direct us, as we were driving, how to avoid some road construction works and the best way to get to the apartment. Granada is a network of often very narrow oneway streets so his help was even better than our GPS ! Arriving at the apartment on one side a reasonably wide street and the other by more of a cobblestone lane. We entered the apartment and were pleasantly greeted by a great apartment...Almost shocked as we have rented apartments in other cities and have been a little disappointed when the reality did not match the internet pix. In this case the apartment was better than the photos...much better.
This apartment was really much bigger, newer, cleaner and stylish in more of a Swedish/German way. Fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with a fantastic shower, dining area for six, lounge/livingroom, excellent TV, huge bedroom, storage room, parking space for a small car and private patio on the same level and another one terrace style on an upper level. All made so much easier as the manager Carlos is a lovely bloke fluent in Spanish, German and English. I have already recommended this apartment to friends travelling through Spain and told them to book to ensure they grab the exceptional value. And there is more ... Nearby (2 mins) is a good local shopping street and a bus that goes to the alhambra for those not interested in the 10 - 15 minute walk (uphill) We walked three times and caught the bus once. Another point of interest the apartment is in the barrio Realjo which was the old Jewish quarter... Now one of the funkiest spots in Granada and while surrounded by cafes, bars and restaurants (dozens within easy walking distance) the apartment is very quiet.

The apartment is very well located and we could walk everywhere we wanted to. Carlos, the owner, spoke very good English and was available to answer any tourist questions that we had. We were very independent and were able to figure out everything that we needed to. We were two adults and our kids were 27 and 18, and there was plenty of room in the apartment for the four of us.

The apartment is situated in the old part of Granada, with churches everywhere. A very hospitable city, we had a blast.

      Excellent apartment and location...

Left on 05/08/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We spent four days at ayala Berganza and were very impressed. Carlos, the owner, met us and although we were early, made arrangements for our car (we rented his space as it is very difficult to find parking). After checking-in, Carlos answered all of our questions and was available by telephone if we had any problems (there were none). The apartment was extremely clean and very comfortable. There were fresh flowers and fruit. The kitchen is fully equipped. The bed was comfortable. Outside, there is a balcony with table. We were able to use it one afternoon and it was quite enjoyable. The entire inner courtyard is filled with flowers and the smells were divine.

In addition the location was excellent. About 15 minutes walking below the alhambra in the Realejo section. Within two blocks is a square with several restaurants. We walked everywhere and it was not difficult to get around the city.

Elegant and amenity Filled apartment in Historic Granada Center

Left on 03/30/2012 for a stay in March 2012

In mid-March, 2012, we stayed at this beautiful apartment. The owner gave us two keys, gave us maps, and generously shared his local knowledge. The apartment is picture perfect and has everything you might want from hair drier to clothing washer down to butter and jam already stocked in the fridge. The owner had placed lilies above the fireplace and local lemons in bowls on the buffet. The apartment has a private locked patio, wonderful windows out to the patio with linen curtains, a large living room with armchairs and couch facing a large flatscreen TV with a great sound system for local cable radio, plus Wifi. There is a nicely sized dining room with large wooden table, plus a charming kitchen with granite countertops; hot pot; coffee pot; full sets of pots and pans, silver, and dishes; a clothing washer; and refrigerator. There is a full bathroom and cloak room on the ground floor with drying rack. The upper floor holds a large bedroom with an extremely comfortable queen or king sized bed with duvet, a single bed with duvet, extra blankets and pillows, excellent side tables and reading lamps, and a large cupboard for hanging and folded clothing. Everything was fresh, bright, and immaculately clean.

What is perhaps best about the place is the elegance of all surfaces and fittings, which were designed with great care and attention to detail using local materials plus materials from Ikea. The range of thoughtful touches is too many to mention from towel racks in all the right places to storage niches to enough space on the sink ledge for both travelers. The owner/architect has thought long, hard, and well about every aspect of this property. It all works and works beautifully. The alahambra, the Moorish Quarter, and many good restaurants are nearby. The owner was perhaps the very kindest of all the apartment owners we have rented from--and that is saying a lot. We travel widely. We will return.
