A place to relax and unwind - stock up on food, open a book and

Left on 12/10/2012 for a stay in July 2012

I had thought we might use La Jarilla as a base to explore the area, and indeed we tried to do so. But the best days were when we stayed put. The place is so relaxed, the next time I will just come with a pile of books and leave the exploring to others. Apart from occasionally plying you with his wine, Simon leaves you to your own devices (though when I had a car problem he came to the rescue in magnificent fashion). This is a perfect getaway, brilliantly restored by the owner, with ideal nooks and crannies to eat, drink, snooze and unwind. The road to the property is not for the fainthearted and to be taken slowly (possibly one of the reasons I was reluctant to travel around too often). But with a pool, tennis court and plenty of room to stroll, La Jarilla is great for seekers of peace and quiet in a beautiful location (though there is wifi by the pool as well as a TV and DVD player).

      Idyllic getaway with every convenience

Left on 11/26/2012 for a stay in October 2012

Three beautiful, romantic houses which can be rented independently or connected for a large getaway for friends or extended family, La Jarilla is the perfect hideaway. Surrounded by olives, almonds and vines, this beautiful restored finca has a swimming pool, boules court, tennis court and miles of walks. Beautiful long-burning fires for cool evenings. When we stayed meals were provided as part of a fully-catered package, and were stunning - beautifully presented, lovely local produce, and very reasonable. Good prices for local wine, too! Simon the owner/manager is a great host - engaging, interesting, full of ideas for excursions to find the real Granada. The ideal place for an away-from-it-all holiday without travelling hours from civilisation.

Time stands still at La Jarilla for you to do revitalise and hav

Left on 11/20/2012 for a stay in May 2012

The style of La Jarilla is like its surroundings: unique, charming and beautiful. This is a place to enjoy time away from routine and hubbub. You can sit by the pool, play tennis, walk and read when you choose or head out to the alhambra Palace in Granada, beach or white villages if you feel like adventure. Simon, our host, is great company, and the various houses reflect the care devoted by him during their careful renovation. His home made wine and olive oil are an excellent addition to what was the most perfect stay. I would not hesitate to go again and have told many friends about La Jarilla. The views are spectacular. What i remember most is sitting in the various hammocks, contemplating the scenery. Stunning!

      starry nights

Left on 11/19/2012 for a stay in July 2009

we stayed here with our 8 year old son in July. It was wonderfully calm and secluded - you could not see another human settlement within the whole valley. We walked, we read books, we swam, we helped trim the grapes, we learnt about almonds, olives, tasted and helped make a wonderful paella and watched soaring eagles in the afternoon. A real luxury, not in the sense of marble bathrooms, but of solitude and space and nature. Loved it. Simon was amusing and helpful but not 'in your face'. The room we had was a tower and it was wonderful to lie in bed and watch the stars from. The location was remote - just what we wanted. What we liked least was little gnat thingys that would have been ok if we had brought insect repellent from the start. Otherwise not a bother.

Wunderschoenes, einsames Landhaus mit Pool unter Mandelbaeumen

Left on 11/19/2012 for a stay in October 2012

Alle Zimmer sind rustikal and sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet.

      Nouvel an dans l'Alpujarra.

Left on 11/19/2012 for a stay in January 2012
