Description from the owner
This fully restored Spanish colonial home is beautifully equipped and furnished. On the second floor there are two air conditioned king size bedrooms, each with private bath. The main floor has a car parking area and an open living space with TV/Internet connection. Three steps up (thru the arches) leads to the dining area , full kitchen with bar counter, a small open courtyard with pool and a 1/2 bath with washer and dryer.
This house has solar hot water and over twenty arches, thus the name "CASA DE ARCOS". It is an easy walk to restaurants, shops and the Parque Central.

Toronto, CanadaNice house, good location
Left on 04/02/2013 for a stay in February 2013
My wife and I stayed at Casa de los arcos for two months early this year and we must state first and foremost that the staff, both house and pool cleaning was superb. Also, the support we received from the staff at Xalteva Hotel/condos was truly appreciated and welcomed.
The house is located in a relatively quiet neighborhood ( some music, traffic noise does occur) within a 10 minute walk to the central park along a main street, two large super markets are within a similar distance. Local vendors pass by to sell their goods, fruits, vegetables, newspaper, bread and water, all reasonably priced. A 19 liter bottle water 44 cordobas. We also used a laundry service for weekly pickup and delivery.
The house is well equipped with appliances, cutlery and pots/pans, and the fridge is adequate, however, for some reason milk does not stay fresh for more than 2 days, finally used Coffeemate.
The bedrooms both have a semi-firm king size mattress, small bathroom with the basic sink, toilet and shower. The solar hot water system provided all the water needs, even after the night for morning showers. However, the largest bedroom has limited closet space available but a computer table.
The house was large enough that even with friends visiting and staying for a month we did not trip over each other or get in each others ways. Seating areas were plentiful for lounging or just reading.
The pool gets limited sunshine, about 3 hours a day and the water temperature takes on the ambient air temperature, cool water in morning.
However, all is not good, furnishings are dated, house needs sprucing up and safety is an issue. All colonial homes have a central court yard, open to the air and roofs normally with security fencing. This house did not and a new addition to the adjacent house, a balcony, gave direct access to the roofs. An attempt to steal the TV occurred early one morning by intruder(s). New owner has been made aware of this and hopefully addressing the issue.
Electricity is an expensive option in Nicaragua, average 34 cents per KW, using the aC racks up a good bill (even the pool pump adds $60 per month alone) and leaving windows open allows insects and dust, lots of dust, in the dry season into the house and rooms. We used the aC for nighttime only and left the windows and doors closed to the bedrooms during the day.
Overall, we will be back to Granada and staying at least two months next year but not at this house, ours needs are a bigger pool and more bedrooms, goods and reasonable houses get rented early, the later on in the year, the housing pool decreases and costs go up. -

Hilton Head, South CarolinaGreat vacation property with central location
Left on 08/05/2012 for a stay in April 2012
My wife and I spent a month at Casa de arcos and thoroughly enjoyed it. The house is spacious and comfortable. The location is very good - an eight minute walk to the Parque Central and ten minutes to super markets. The casa is located on a quiet street, has air conditioning in the bed rooms and high speed internet connection. The management was very helpful and plesant. They provided welcome information, made some reservations and delivered water to the casa. They also speak excellent english which eases things for gringos. For those with cars, the casa also has a garage.
