Additional Location Information
Hewn from the rock and set on the very edge of the small village of Fuente Nueva, near Orce in the province of Granada Andalucia and with far reaching views to the mountains, the cave-house is in a wonderful location.
The surrounding scenery is very varied, ranging from semi-desert, scrub-covered hills, cut through by fertile irrigated valleys, to high mountain ranges whose lower slopes are clad in vast pine forests. There are several natural parks in the area, where the possibilities for walking, picnicking and observing the wildlife are virtually limitless.
Mountain bikes can be hired locally and there are fascinating guided walking and cycling tours available. Anyone interested in archaeology will find plenty to occupy them too, with the village and area famous for its archaeological finds. The towns in the region have numerous fiestas, one of the most interesting being Orce's two week long cultural festival in August.
Road access is excellent considering the untouched nature of the region. The cave is about 1½ hours from Granada airport and around 2 hours from Alicante, Murcia San Javier and Almeria airports the majority of the route being by dual carriageway. Malaga airport is a bit further away at 3 hours but it is an easy drive.

EumundiAbsolutely awesome cosy place surrounded by fantastic scenery.
Left on 04/20/2012 for a stay in April 2012
This rural retreat was great. We wish we could have had longer there. There are walks in the mountains and interesting towns nearby.
The museum at Orce was great. Hosts were very friendly. We had a wonderful welcome pack with lots of treats. We would love to come back one day. Even though it was remote - Wi-Fi was no problem.

San Cayetano MurciaAn excellent all round first time cave house experience
Left on 02/12/2012 for a stay in February 2012
Spot on directions to a rural location,we were met at the property by David and Simon who showed us round and explained how everything worked in a very welcoming manner and answered all our questions. The cave house itself is superb in that its like a tardis, it is huge inside. We had great relaxing evenings in front of a roaring log fire while the kids were able to use the free wifi, we were also spoilt by the number of places to walk our dogs, which were very welcome. The nearest town, Orce, is only 7km away and has all you could need. Overall we loved everything about our stay and would highly recommend this property.

SevilleA tiny little piece of tranquility
Left on 11/01/2011 for a stay in October 2011
This is a lovely, peaceful place to stay. The cave is well furnished and comfortable and the owners really do go all out to make you feel welcome.
The property is almost at the end of the world, so make sure you take everything you'll need for your stay (the nearest village is 6km away), and once you get there, you really won't want to leave. The kitchen is well-equipped (though the oven isn't the hottest...) so you can self-cater very easily.
The bedrooms are all a decent size and the beds are comfy and warm (I would suggest taking your own hair-dryer though, because the one provided is a bit feeble).
We had a wonderful weekend here - we'll be back! -

SevillaSensational
Left on 11/01/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We arrived late Friday night to a warm friendly greeting and an even warmed cave with a log fire burning! David and simon immediately made us feel welcome, with gifts of home made bread, chutney, jam and a bottle of wine.
The cave is beautiful, well appointed and fitted the 5 of us well, with space to spare. There was ample hot water, and logs for that feature fireplace.
The location is remote. We had done a major shop on our way and this was a good idea. As we all like to and wanted to cook, it was excellent for us. Saturday was spent ambling up hillsides, and taking in views. A car s necessary, though. Perhaps we could have wandered to the village of Orce and maybe next time, we will try this.
Sunday was our day of rest and this was enhanced by a very liberal check-out time (as in whatever suited us). This just added to a feeling of pure relaxation and tranquillity.
A real find, our time here was special! -

LondonStunning location in an unusual property in 'real 'Spain.
Left on 09/22/2011 for a stay in September 2011
This cave house is in a beautiful setting with uninterrupted views across to the mountains. The property is comfortably furnished and had everything we needed for our holiday. The BBQ and pergola area at the front of the cave were a welcome addition as even in September the Spanish sun was still shining.et more than make up for that.
The welcome from the owners was amazing and we were grateful for their local knowledge about places to visit and local bars and restaurants. Meals were very good value and this region specialises in free tapas-another lovely tradition.
This holiday gave us the chance to experience genuine Spanish culture and cuisine and we had a fabulous holiday.

LondonSplendid isolation in a stunning location
Left on 07/16/2011 for a stay in June 2011
This is not the place to visit if you want to be near the action, but if you want splendid isolation amidst some of the most dramatic mountain scenery that southern Spain can offer then it's peerless. The house itself is beautifully furnished with good attention to detail, and a comprehensive welcome pack is good for pointing out access by car to numerous sights worth seeing throughout andalucia, including easy day access to the coast. The owners are attentive and welcoming. Highly recommended.

ExeterExcellent accommodation, in beautiful surroundings.
Left on 05/19/2011 for a stay in May 2011
The house is cosy and welcoming and the owners have thought of everything you need to make life comfortable.
The house is very well presented with clean, comfortable rooms, comfortable beds and a well appointed kitchen. The garden has a beautiful array of trees including olive, cherry and mulberry. There is a shaded area to sit in and plenty of outside furniture to enjoy al fresco meals and the brick built BBQ.
In the evenings if you are not out enjoying the local restaurants, you can light the fire (the owners provide kindling, very dry logs and fire lighters) and watch a DVD, read or listen to music.
The owners provided useful information about the surrounding area and are easily contacted should you need advice or information.
While we were there:
The days were warm and sunny (with an occasional rumble of thunder over the mountains) the cool evenings meant we made good use of the open fire.
The markets at Orce and Huescar are well worth a visit. Wondering around the stalls gives you a real sense of Spanish life; the stall holders are friendly and welcomed our stuttering Spanish (as did the staff in the restaurants). There are lots of restaurants in nearby towns with friendly staff, great tapas and varied menus.
The museum at Orce is in a beautiful building and has a small yet interesting gift shop. We enjoyed a swim in the free, open air, spring fed pool - a little chilly but then it was early May.
A drive into the mountains provided breathtaking views, the birds were many and varied (Hoopoes, Vultures, Little Owls) and the wild flowers were stunning.
The castle at Velez Blanco is another must for breathtaking views.
A week wasn't long enough - it is the sort of place you very quickly adjust to the pace of life, enjoy the Spanish culture and traditions and immerse yourself in the beautiful surroundings.
Needless to say we have recommended it to our friends and family.

Left on 04/16/2011 for a stay in August 2010
The beauty of the semi-desertic surroundings is astonishing. In addition the nicely furnished cave has all modern amenities. To have a nap in a fresh cave when it is so hot outside is something particularly enjoyable. As a +: very friendly and reliable owners. Highly recommended.

Left on 04/13/2011 for a stay in September 2010
Superb accommodation in an ideal location for winding down away from the crowds. The owners could not have been more helpful and thoughtful. Everything that could be needed for a self catering break was provided.
Locally Orce, Huescar and Galera have plenty of bars and shops for any day to day items. Lots to see and do outdoors within an hour or so drive. Granada however is a must, great place to see, eat, drink and just generally chill.
Will be back for a second trip soon! -

Left on 04/03/2011 for a stay in September 2010
Welcomed, shown around this beautifully cared for home, homemade loaf, basket of home grown veggies, milk, butter all waiting in the kitchen. Very tranquil location, spectacular views, flora and fauna. Easy drive to historic town of Orce with market, bars and restaurants.
I liked best the choices; eating indoors or outside - excellent barbecue!, exploring the surrounding countryside, most of all feeling welcome and "at home" yet knowing help was a phone call away if there were any problems.
I should like more privacy when outside - maybe more tall grasses, close planted roses.

The service received was excellent with a welcome pack better than average. The house is warm & comfortable, with music, dvd`s & games on hand. There are plenty of nice walks & the nearby towns are friendly. The best part was being able to relax with very few neighbours. The log fire was nice & cosy.

Left on 03/30/2011 for a stay in September 2011
The cave house itself is beautifully appointed and clean as a new pin, gets plenty of natural daylight via front windows and skylights, and is set in a dramatic rural landscape perfect for anyone who really wants to get away from it all, breathe clean air and marvel at entirely light-pollution free night skies. The outside area is fully equipped with table, chairs, sun-loungers and a barbecue area, and is planted with a variety of fruit trees giving pleasant shade. The views are magnificent and the sound of the goat-bells across the valley is a marvellous accompaniment to morning coffee! The location is somewhat remote - 20 minutes to the nearest town - but the roads are good (if narrow!). The information pack is very complete, offering details of bars and restaurants in the nearest town, plus market days in surrounding towns.
