Additional Location Information
Set on a hill facing the Alhambra, the ALBAICÍN neighbourhood is a labyrinth of narrow streets and squares – a reminder of its medieval past. Alongside the Alhambra, it became a world heritage site in 1984.
The Abaicín has been constantly inhabited since Roman times, prospered under the Nasrids and by the mid-14th century was home to Arab and Jewish craftsmen and traders. Still today, there’s a distinctly moorish flavour in the ever-popular Morrocan tea-rooms and shops on Caldereria Nueva.
The history of the neighbourhood is reflected in it’s architecture - there are still some original moorish houses, parts of the old city walls and even the remains of an 11th century arab bath complex. But the Albaicín is perhaps most popular for the spectacular views of the Alhambra. Crowds gather at the Mirador de San Nicolás to enjoy the sight - and it is certainly worth the climb. If you are willing paying extra for a drink at one of the terrace bars, or a meal at one of the restaurants, you can escape the throng to enjoy a more private view of your own.
Highlights:
- View of the Alhambra from the Mirador de San Nicolás
- Casa de Castril, the archaeological museum
- Arab Baths - both historic remains and a modern version
- Churches and Moorish city gates

Left on 07/08/2012 for a stay in June 2012
The stay was great. The apartment as advertised was very new, clean, well appointed. The location near the alhambra and old city was fabulous.
The bad part if getting there. We were not able to get good directectiosn and the fact that you cannot drive to the aprtment was never mentioned to us. The fact is that you must park in a lot about 1km away and eirther get a taxi or walk. This should be made clear in the description and instructions of the apartment. Would have saved me lots of time and stress. -

Wellington, New ZealandA chic apartment in an historic area
Left on 05/04/2012 for a stay in April 2012
This apartment outdid our expectations. It was chic and stylish, obviously recently built/renovated with everything needed for a comfortable stay. situated in the heart of the historic area of Grenada, the walls of the alhambra loomed over our balcony - we felt we could touch it. Larger than the photos suggest, it is somewhat open plan - bedrooms are visually private but certainly not sound proof.
