    Additional Location Information

Patio del Olivo is located in the historical Albaicin quarter of Granada. This part of the city dates back to the 14th century and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While it is located just a short walk from downtown Granada, this unique section of the city feels like it's own small town and is the perfect place to begin discovering Granada's unique history and the multitude of cultures that have occupied it from the time the Alhambra was built to the present day.

From the Albaicin it is easy to walk or take a bus downtown or to other parts of the city. It is easy to go exploring in the traditional Gypsy nieghborhood, Sacromonte. Small cafes renowned for tapas abound and there is no neighborhood more perfect for having a meal and drink in the sun!

A short five minute walk up the mountain behind the house can put you on several easy mountain hikes, including access to the centuries old abbey. This Albaicin setting is also perfect for enjoying some the Semana Santa processions at Easter.

Street parking is available five minutes from the house.

Gorgeous home with wonderful hosts: An outstanding value!

Left on 05/13/2013 for a stay in April 2013

We loved your home!! It was much prettier than the pictures portrayed. The patio garden was really lovely, the house was well equipped, including a large North american style refrigerator and a wonderful heated English towel rack (which was useful in the cool weather and to dry clothes). There were lots of beautiful touches, nice tiles, pretty ceilings, and a balcony off the master bedroom. The host couple could not have been friendlier or more helpful in meeting us, showing us around, and providing a lot of useful information, including letting us know beforehand that we needed to procure tickets to the alhambra well in advance in order to see it while we were there. The location was ideal, right in the charming Moorish quarter (Albaicin) where there was plenty to do plus easy access to minibuses to the main downtown areas. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends! The only thing missing was an internet connection (and TV for those who want it--we don't watch much ourselves).

Master bedroom looking at the balcony. The lovely patio area. The living room.

      Wonderful

Left on 05/13/2013 for a stay in May 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Patio del Olivo. Lindley was the most gracious host anyone could ask for, from the tour of the home to the bottle of wine thoughtfully left for us. The photographs do not do the place justice; it is charming and the outdoor terrace is beautiful. We were a party of five and the place was very spacious for us. The house is in a great location and it was easy to venture to the city as well as sites.

A beautiful home with the character and location of the albaicin

Left on 03/15/2013 for a stay in July 2012

A beautiful home. Comfortable and clean!! It is apparent the owners take pride in both their home and the albaicin. They provide great service and helpful information about the area.

Our young family of 5 had only a long weekend stay. We traveled an hour and half from our vacation at the beaches in Nerja for a weekend event in Granada. Although we packed a lot in (and could do so easily from here) we wished we had planned more time.

We found when we were home that we spent most of our time in the lovely courtyard. It was great for breakfast in the morning and wine in the evening when the kids were in bed.

We will be back to Patio del Olivo! For a week or two next time. A great spot all around!!

      We will be back!!!

Left on 03/13/2013 for a stay in July 2012

My wife and our two children stayed at Patio de Olivo last summer via word of mouth. We had a spectacular time! The home itself is clean, and well-appointed with a large american style refrigerator, and other amenities which made making our morning and evening meals so easy. (Because of our young children, we ate our larger meals in restaurants during the day.) Shopping for our meals was quick and easy because there are small local stores, a deli, and the fresh fruit and veggie market in Plaza Larga--all a five minute walk away. (I must confess we also enjoyed the proximity to the ice cream in the cafe and pastry shop Casa de los Pasteles where our kids ate gallons of delicious ice cream!)

While the home itself is lovely, we enjoyed the enclosed courtyard most since we "lived" outside! After exploring Granada and while my wife cooked our meals, our kids burned off steam outside in the enclosed patio and we didn't have to worry about them escaping from the yard! And after they were in bed, my wife and I would sit in the courtyard by candle light and enjoy the stars and lavender scent from the garden with our wine. So relaxing. (Unless my wife was in the huge tube relaxing her feet after a long day of sight seeing)

Lindley met us with the keys and provided us with wonderful information about where to find the best tapas--all within walking distance. For example, a stop at Kiki's in San Nicolas for great tapas, wine and beer. Also, on her advice we tried the snails in a local bar. I could go on about the great food, but will leave it in Lindley's hands to point you in the right direction!

It is a short, well-worth it walk to the alhambra and the bus home left us only minutes from the doorstep. We love Granada and we will be back to stay at Patio de Olivo when we come again.
