50 ft and you are on Bassett Cove beach. This large oceanfront cottage offers views of the lawns with many palm trees and the ocean. Very secluded on the quiet south West corner with a large lawned area and pathways leading to the beach with Palm shaded areas with hammocks. Fish from the beach, we are also a bone fishing area. Great to swim, snorkel, three blue holes to explore. Use the Kayaks. The cottage has a large Great Room, with two bedrooms both en-suite. The master has a King bed and the guest bedroom has a Queen bed. Both have AC units for night use when breezes not available to cool. Note the cottage relies on cooling sea breeze...s and ceiling fans, if you want to be enclosed in AC conditions then please book our new 3 bedroom Plumbago villa. The Cottage is located in Bassett Cove at Bevans Town, a 25 minute drive East from the Freeport International Airport. Set in its own 5 acres with only two other homes the cottage is very quiet and secluded. There is a small local convenience store and gas station in the village which also do take away local foods. A couple of miles further east you come to High Roch which has a couple of great local beach bar and resturants, enjoy the conch and local fare both very reasonable. The Lucayan Caves are close by where you can also rent kayaks and do a tour up the creek and see many species of birds, fish and flowers etc,. A 25 minute drive takes you to Port Lucaya where there an many restuarants, bars, live music and the Casino. Also located ther is Unexso for all your dive, snorkell and underwater activities. Glass bottom boat and fishing trips also golf and tennis are also available in Freeport. In Freeport itself we have several good supermarkets, churches, cinemas etc. Hideaway has 24 hour on site security.

  This is a nice comfortable beach house well east of Freeport (~25 miles) on a quiet stretch of beach. It is unpretentiously furnished and not luxurious, but was quite adequate for our stay. There is a more luxurious house for rent on the same property, further back from the beach, if you need aC and a large flat screen TV. The two bedrooms have wall mounted air conditioners that the manager says will be replaced soon, but we didn't use them at all as the night time temperatures were in the mid 60's (°F) in December and there are plenty of fans throughout the house. It is just a few feet to the beach, with seagrasses nearshore and coral quite a ways out. Two kayaks are available, and the 24 hour internet wifi required a short walk to the office (bring bug spray). It is fast enough for Skype phone calls. There are regular jitney type buses on the Grand Bahama Highway past the property, but most people will want/need to rent a car. Buy groceries in Freeport; there is a gas station convenience store across the street from the property entrance, but the offerings are limited. We found Solomons near the airport to have the best selection and prices for groceries.. We reserved a car from Hertz for $350 a week including all taxes, but there are other options. This is a very quiet location, and the beach is deserted, but that was fine with us. A couple more miles down the road are several beach side restaurants with good prices and friendly service with local food. This property is near Lucayan National Park, and there are enough other attractions to make a week long stay enjoyable and relaxing. We came and went to Grand Bahama Island with Vision airlines and they did a great job getting us there and back non-stop from Baltimore. Hope they can stay in business.
