Cottage Profile Ashfield House is a handsome new two-bedroom, multiple-decked cottage built to feel like it has belonged by the lake for a century. You will not likely find a better beachfront setting. Attention to detail is the order of the day here – quality fittings and furnishings, stainless steel appliances, unique decorator and antique accents and audio speakers throughout are just the beginning of your vacation comfort. Set hillside, Ashfield House features three floors of living space all with views to the west over the water. The main level features a living room, kitchen and dining room combination with high-gloss hemlock floo...ring and matching ceiling. Bright, cozy and tastefully decorated with two sofas, chairs and abundance of lamps for evening reading, the living room also includes a wood-burning fireplace, TV, blu-ray player and plenty of DVD’s for every taste. The dining table will accommodate four very comfortably and the kitchen is compact yet admirably outfitted in beautiful green tones with a two-seater breakfast bar, tin ceiling, water cooler, and lots of handy cooking appliances. Of course there is also a full-size fridge, stove, microwave and dishwasher. Cupboard space is plentiful. The staircase to both the upper and lower levels, lined with bookshelves, is a bookworm’s nirvana and on the lower level, you can enjoy your book while curled up in the built-in captain’s bed, your cat or dog snuggled at your feet. Both the open foyer on this floor and the bedroom with a Queen bed can access the lower level deck which overlooks the water. This floor also features a four piece bath. On the third floor you will find the master suite with a lovely sleigh-style Queen bed, again a quality piece with matching chests of drawers. The bedroom features its own private deck overlooking the water on which to savour that first morning coffee. Another bath with free-standing shower and antique claw foot tub, toilet and sink serve this bedroom as well. Main floor features the glorious wrap-around deck with its full-on water view, eight Muskoka chairs and an anti-gravity recliner. Additionally there is an outdoor dining table with seating for four and a patio umbrella. There is also an outdoor shower. This cottage offers exceptional craftsmanship as well as excellent privacy from neighbours thanks to an unusually wide (104') lot, cedar trees and bushes. It is also located on a lightly populated stretch of beach meaning opportunities for quiet, romantic walks abound. A lovely fire chimnea setting complete with English garden wooden benches affords the opportunity to enjoy the spectacular sunsets and the night skies & sounds. Set well in from the highway, the only sounds you will hear are the waves. Ashfield House flows beautifully from the decks to the shore. It will provide you with a wonderfully secluded vacation and at the same time, is close enough to explore stylish Bayfield (20 minutes south) or quaint Goderich (12 minutes south) or Kincardine (15 minutes north). Both communities offer a wide range of services including main street shopping, dining, festivals & events, galleries and museums; the Ben Miller Inn and Spa is a quick 10 minute drive awayand world-class theatre in Stratford is only 65 minutes east. Ashfield House is a true first-class couples’ beach retreat that might also pamper your faithful canine(or feline!) companion.

  we were at the ashfield house for 2 weeks in july. I liked it so much, this is place where I would like to live all year-round. The cottage itself is absolutely perfect, everything is so well think, the fact that rooms are on 1rst and 3rd floor assure a lot of privacy.
  So much taste and "finesse" in every room's decor.
  Outside, it is the paradise, quietness, sound of the waves, kilometers of beach, the paradise!!!
  Small things that I think could be changed:
  the price is very expensive and I think that at that price there should be someone who comes to pickup the garbage. We had to bring them elsewhere and it was only open 2 days a week. It happens that it was closed since 5 days when we left on saturday early morning and we got to bring the garbage with us to try to dispose of them in Goderich.
  Other point, I think that at this price cleaning should be inclued, it is one the most expensive cottage of rentcottage and I think the owner won't get ruined to pay for that.
  Last thing are the mattress. Probably some people appreciate when mattress is no to firm but for but of us, the night were not particulary comfortable but I suppose it is a question of taste.

  Paradise Found!

  We have been searching for years for the perfect beach cottage. We have finally found it! It is located directly on a beautiful, quiet stretch of Lake Huron waterfront where we enjoyed hours of swimming and beaching every day. A little gravel at the entry but it returned to a nice sand bottom about 10 feet out. Glorious! When we were able to tear ourselves away from the beach, there were three levels of deck as well as a stone patio where you could sit to enjoy the gardens or to stare dreamily out at the lake or stunning sunset, read, BBQ, etc. Inside . . . anything but your typical cottage. Tremendous care and thought has gone into decorating and outfitting this home. Gorgeous kitchen with tin ceiling and warm wooden countertops. The stairways are lined with floor-to-ceiling bookcases and tasteful antiques are placed throughout. Soft mattresses, pretty hardwood floors, dreamy clawfoot tub, glass & tile shower stall. Why would you ever want to leave? We certainly didn't and we look forward to returning next summer! Thank you L.

  Luxurious and laid back, this beach house has it all.

  We expected it to be lovely judging by the photos but when we walked in we knew that it was going to be a memorable stay. The house and property itself is perfect in every way. Every detail has been thought of and made available to you. Far from being staid, it is glamorous without being stuffy. The owners have done their best to make you feel you are in your own home. They succeeded. If the house itself isn't enough to make you long for a rainy day, the sound of the waves on endlessly beautiful Lake Huron lure you to the beach. Barbeques, sandcastles, cocktails and sunsets. I hesitate to write this review for fear that someone will snap it up for next year before we do.
