MinnesotaSo Close to Lake Superior
Left on 08/02/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Loved the proximity, view, sound and access to the Lake. Amazing Grace literally
has the beach and lake in the front yard. It was windy the first few days and the sound of the waves was heaven. Loved all the windows facing the lake and thanks to the person who cleaned the windows, suspect it was family members who were there before us. The cleanliness of the interior is typical of all the properties we have rented through Cascade Vacation Rentals, their housekeeping staff is very good. Loved the privacy and quiet, the cozy, comfy interior, replacement supplies including lots of bottled water, satellite tv with a variety of channels including the Twin Cities channels for weather and news, waterfall on the property, fans, nice towels and bedding, dvd/vcr and CD player.
We enjoy being so close to Grand Marais and we had several stops at World's Best Donuts, My Sister's Place for take out Onion Rings, and hands down our favorite lunch place a few miles up Highway 61, Naniboujou Lodge.
Cascade Vacation Rentals makes it easier for us to choose a vacation home because of all the information on their website, virtual tours, photos, amenities, etc. We would never go back to a resort after renting private homes.
We always have high expectations of the vacation rentals we choose, Amazing Grace surpassed most of them. We will definitely be back.
A tip for new renters: If you are set on a specific home for your vacation, make your reservation very early because the most popular homes are reserved months in advance. -

Great cabin, lots of extras that made it feel very comfortable and home-like. So close to the lake, loved listening to the waves. The only thing that would have made it a tiny bit better... if the sauna had been unlocked. Such a relaxing vacation, can't wait to go back!

Dear Guest
Thanks for your review. This owner does not offer the sauna at any time for insurance reasons. We are glad you enjoyed your stay.
Thanks

St. Paul, MNComfortable, cozy, light filled and lakeview filled cabin
Left on 04/17/2011 for a stay in April 2011
We loved this cabin. Comfortable furniture for reading and good reading lamps, wonderful wall of windows looking out on the rocks and lake, very close to Grand Marais so convenient for groceries etc. and yet we would not have known we were so close to a town because the cabin is so private and quiet.

Left on 03/23/2011 for a stay in March 2011
We enjoyed the clean and spacious cabin on the water. However, our son has a significant allergy to cats. We did not think to ask if pets were allowed there or had been there before us, our mistake. Within a few hours and for the whole stay, he had severe red and watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing etc. It resolved when we checked out. We'll have to limit our choices next time.

We are so sorry for your son's experience. We do not allow pets of any kind at Amazing Grace. When making your next reservation, please contact us directly and mention any allergies to your booking agent so we can help you choose the best home possible. We apologize for any discomfort this caused.

Cedar Rapids, IowaInspiring, private view of Superior
Left on 02/10/2011 for a stay in September 2010
We've stayed at amazing Grace three or four times the last few years, always a week in September or October.
It's a bit pricey but the location warrants it. Walking distance to Grand Marais, it's right on the lake, and private enough you can't see your neighbors. We might rent this place if just for the view. Mesmerizing, from clear and calm to full gales. The common room has a wall of large windows looking out to Superior and her incredible sky. Quiet.
Amazing grace has three bedrooms, a kitchen-dining-living room with a great little wood stove (wood out back), and a small bathroom with a shower. There's also a great looking sauna out back but they have never let us use it. (My only complaint!)
The cabin interior is spotlessly clean, classic northwoods cabin kitsch; knotty pine, moose, wolves, loons, etc. Bottled water supplied. Full electric, heating, and plumbing. Kitchen facilities are average with just a tiny apartment stove, but then you are close to Grand Marais (try the Crooked Spoon or angry Trout) or use that Weber on the deck or fire ring on the cobble beach. And really, that electric stove and oven works well enough. We bring a goose neck lamp for better lighting on the stove top.
There's a tv/dvd player for those of you so inclined. No internet or telephone, and you need to walk up the hill a couple hundred yards for good cell reception. We consider this a plus when we're trying to get away.
Never fear if you're not entirely self sufficient, the rental service is really good. Run out of water (unlikely) and someone is there within minutes, and happy to help. A bathroom sink once came loose while we were there and a plumber/handyman had it repaired right away, with minimal inconvenience to us. Everyone connected with the rental service who we've met has been extremely good natured, polite, clean and efficient. No exceptions. Yet you've got complete privacy and never see these people unless you want to. They are good.

RosemountFabulous location with unforgettable memories of Lake Superior
Left on 02/10/2011 for a stay in July 2010
The week we spent was amazing. What's not to like when out your front door is the mesmerizing Lake Superior? We went to sleep by waves lapping the shore and awakened to seagulls following a fishing trawler. The temperatures in July were in the 70's and there were no mosquitoes. Is this heaven? No, it's Grand Marais...

We really enjoyed "Amazing Grace". The beach was nice, the distance to town was short, the service by Cascade Vacation Rentals was friendly and helpful. The bathroom is pretty small, but since it was only for a week, it was okay. The bedrooms were big enough, and there were nice linens and towel. There were plenty of dishes, pots and pans, no l wine glasses though. The artwork in the kitchen was stunning, and we liked all of the furniture. The kitchen table was big enough for all of us to eat around. There was plenty of firewood. The windows facing the lake afforded a picture perfect view! We wish someone would have told us about the path to the beach as the steps off the deck were tough for one of us. I was so pleased that there were plenty of outdoor chairs and a picnic table on the deck. It was just a really nice place, thank you for sharing it with us.
