Description from the owner

Arcadia is a peaceful, secluded, pet- and handicap-friendly house in Grayton Beach proper. It is ideal for discriminating visitors who are less interested in a raucous beach-front scene than in a truly unique and quiet haven. Walk or bike to the Red Bar, other restaurants, shops and convenience store.

Nice classical touches distinguish this Ted Dial-designed home, surrounded by magnolia, wisteria, pine and oak on a quiet side street. No high traffic roads to cross. Children can safely walk or ride bikes to the beach, approximately 350 yards. Small dogs allowed – pet deposit is required and cannot be waived.

    Additional Location Information

Grayton Beach is a small, historic Gulf Coast village on Florida's panhandle, halfway between Destin and Panama City. It is situated at the center of a 40-mile stretch of spectacular white sand beaches, fringed by rugged dune systems and highlighted by unique mixed freshwater and saltwater lakes. The area, known to many as the Emerald Coast, is served by airports in Panama City (one-half hour's drive) Fort Walton Beach (45-minutes) and Pensacola (1-1/2 hour). Approximate drive times are Atlanta and New Orleans, 5-1/2 hours, Birmingham and Jacksonville, 5 hours, Mobile, 3 hours, Tallahassee, 2 hours.

Grayton Beach State Park, which encompasses over a mile of beachfront and most of Western Lake, forms the eastern border of Grayton Beach. Its hiking trail is one of the most scenic on the coast, circling beach dunes, skirting the coastal lake and cutting through a dense scrub hammock. The western edge of Grayton Beach borders Grayton Dunes State Park, so the town is enclosed by award winning natural park areas that protect it from larger developments that have grown up along Highway 30-A, a scenic route linking many of the Emerald Coast’s beach communities.

Just a mile down Scenic 30-A from Grayton Beach lie the new resort of Watercolor and the town of Seaside -- made famous in the film The Truman Show starring Jim Carrey -- with their lively restaurants and bars, shops and activities. From snack bars to fine dining, and with shopping ranging from antiques to books, eclectic clothing and local arts, there is always something going on to entertain visitors on sunny and rainy days alike. Popular driving destinations include waterparks in Destin and Panama City Beach, Silver Sands Outlet Mall (the largest in the US), and some of Florida's finest state parks: Deer Lake, Camp Helen, Eden Gardens and Topsail Hill

Several golf courses serve the area. Many art galleries, antiques shops and thrift stores are nearby. It's a great place for biking. A bike path parallels the length of Scenic 30-A and a new path winds its way through Watercolor's unique neighborhoods and landscape. Canoeing and kayaking are popular in the coastal lakes and deep sea fishing trips can be arranged directly off Grayton Beach's beach and in Destin harbor. Kayaks, canoes and bicycles can be rented at the Grayton Corner Store, just up the street from Arcadia.

The Red Bar, with its lively restaurant and jazz scene, a five-minute walk from Arcadia in Grayton Beach's historic "downtown", draws visitors from all over. It has been featured in several national publications.
