Had a wonderful time here, incredible view, gorgeously furnished, and no bugs being on top of the hill! Jacqueline was great and extremely helpful and the place had pretty much everything we needed. Didnt even need the a/c cause of the great breeze coming through the apartment. The only downside was the lack of a full kitchen, but we made up for it with the grill. Its about a ten minute drive from town, kinda gnarly, but we did it no problem with a 2wd car, I kinda enjoyed it, though I drive like a bit of a crazy person all the time. All around amazing place, would highly recommend!

This property looks just like the pictures. Jacqueline is very accommodating, the property is clean and tidy, a huge shower, and the bed most comfortable. The downsides were no stove in the kitchenette and the WiFi only worked once during our week stay. Beach chairs were provided and a beach sand sheet to keep the rental jeep clean - nice little extras. There is a gas grill which we put to use for a wonderful steak dinner. The place felt very secure.

My girlfriend and I spent our vacation on St. John and had the pleasure of staying in the White Seagull suite at Island Rentals. I want to start by saying the photo’s on the website do not even do it justice, it’s so beautiful inside and out. Gardens and flowers surround the modern villa. The view from the balconies and the awesome sky roof are truly breathtaking!! You can see St Thomas and the Great Cruz Bay and at night the stars look amazing. With the cool breeze high atop the hill we didn’t even need to use the air conditioning our entire stay. We opened a couple (of the three) sliding glass doors to let the trade winds cool the room which allowed us to enjoy the symphony of island wildlife as we drifted off to sleep. The frogs chirping and wind blowing through the palm trees just outside were like a sweet lullaby. I’ve never slept so well in my entire life! The suite is truly amazing; everything you need is there. There are beach chairs, a cooler, towels and even sunscreen. Buy food and grill by the amazing pool. The hot tub and the view from it were spectacular! The walk in shower was awesome. The building is modern and the rooms are decorated so beautifully. It even smells good with all of the antique wood in the room! We rented a scooter, which I highly recommend (*if your riding skills are very strong, there’s lots of steep hills) and rode around the island, beach hopping and eating great food all week. It was truly an amazing vacation. I posted a lot of pictures on instagram @ajsitko. Trust me when I tell you it’s perfect!
I had the pleasure of talking with Jacqueline the owner of Island Rentals who lives adjacent to the property. She's a lovely woman inside and out who is very knowledgeable about the island. She was like having our own travel guide! I really appreciated her help and found her advise on restaurants rock solid. She saved us a ton of money by helping us avoid tourist traps and turned us on to some real hidden gems. I’ve stayed at the big resort and can honestly say I had a much better experience staying with Jacqueline at Island Rentals. I loved the privacy and intimacy of our suite, not to mention the view. I couldn’t imagine anything that would have made our experience any better. I fell in love with my girlfriend all over again and somehow fell more in love with life. Thank you so much Jacqueline for giving us the gift of true relaxation and recovery. You are an angel!

We have traveled to various islands in the Caribbean, but this tops our list. We have already made plans to return, next year - which we never do! The place is as attractive (or more) than the posted pictures and the views are spectacular.
Jacqueline is an "on site" hostess, living across the patio. She is wonderfully attentive and hospitable, but not the least intrusive. We felt like we were staying at a friend's place, rather than a commercial resort.
We stayed in the White Seagull room and had exclusive access to the sun deck, above the patio. The room had wonderful, hilltop views, in 3 directions and overlooked Great Cruz Bay. It was private, intimate and a wonderful couples escape. Simple breakfasts on the private balconies or the sun deck would start each day. We ventured, daily, into town and to various activities, and then returned to our sanctuary, in the evening. -

My husband and I had wonderful time in the White Seagull villa we rented from Jacqueline. This is not the typical rental where you pick up your key and you're on your own. Jacqueline met us after we arrived on the ferry and rented our jeep to follow her up to the villa. Her home is part of the property to which her four rental villas are connected. She was so friendly and helpful providing advice and making sure we had everything we needed. By the end of the week, we had become friends.
The White Seagull villa has a spectacular view overlooking Great Cruz Bay, Chocolate Hole, and Heart Bay, which you can enjoy from the rooftop patio (sky lounge), the living room and balconies on three sides. It has a partial kitchen and a gas grill and hot plate in the courtyard. There is a lovely pool with a view off the courtyard and access to the hot tub with a view down the stairs. The beach chairs and cooler that were provided were very much appreciated during our many outings to different gorgeous beaches every day. The sky lounge has private access from the villa and was a prime spot to have our morning coffee, watch the sunset with a pina colada, and gaze at the stars.
We also enjoyed staying in the Tropical Garden villa for the earlier part of the trip. We would stay in either one again. Jacqueline went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. We were sad to leave but very happy to have a new friend in St. John!

I'll start with the (9) issues we had:.
1) No washer/dryer on premise, which we knew prior to renting; however, we didn't think it thru that there were only 2 beach towels for 2 people for 8 days. Towels did not dry overnight ever.
2) Upon checkin we were told about the $500 electric bill and encouraged to open the sliding doors for a great breeze, leaving us feeling guilty about using the a.C. That lasted two nights. The a.C. went on after that, but we felt like we were doing something wrong.
3) Also upon checkin, we were encouraged to not flush the toilet everytime we "do number one" and to throw the used toilet paper in the garbage can, which leads me to #4.
4) We were asked to collect our garbage and drive it the nearest dumpster ourselves. Between the bathroom garbage of used toilet paper and the bug issue (#5), it was a daily chore.
5) There was an 8 day, on-going parade of tiny bugs on kitchen counter, kitchen linens, in cabinets and ceiling. A few made it over to the bathroom sink & counter top. We kept our toothbrushes and coffee mugs and utensils in the fridge. (Jacqueline called the exterminator after we were checked in. He came that day. 24 hours later, we told Jacqueline there seemed to be less, but still alot. He came again. 3rd day, still bugs. Jacqueline did not follow up and we gave up.
6) Two Beach towels were thin, stained, small-size bathroom towels. I asked for different towels and were given a new set while being told that the towels were not dirty, they were permanent stains and that the new towels she gave us were actually bought for her daughter and what felt like, begrudgingly given to us instead. Stained towels are not acceptable.
7) Beach chairs were rusted and left permanent orange stains on my bathing suit bottom and cover up (which Jacqueline offerred to pay for)
8) Wifi was a priority as my husband had to work each morning. Don't be fooled. There is no coverage in White Seagull. It sporadically worked if you sat out on the side balcony or down in the lobby area near the pool. We asked to reboot the router a few times (which she did not know how to do, we had to wait for her cleaning girl to get in to reboot) to see if it might help and were treated as if we were a major thorn in her side. She told us that we're "the only people that ever had a problem" accusing us of not knowing how to connect to the internet. The Wifi doesn't work because of the concrete structure and there is no router close enough to that room.
9) There is no landline available to make reservations for dining or daily excursions. You are told to use your cell phone. Mine was $2 per minute to use in St John.
Unfortunately, although these issues were individually minor, the overall feeling that we were a major thorn in her side by day two, tainted the remainder of our vacation.
Now the good.
Would I recommend my own family and friends to go there? Absolutely. Why?
After some time passed, I sent Jacqueline an email of everything I felt and made a few suggestions to help future guests' experience. Jacquelines response was positive and genuine. She was sincere. She thought our suggestions were helpful and was truly apologetic.
The location is beautiul. It's close to Cruz Bay. Is the house hard to find? Yes. Is that Jacqueline's fault? No. It's an island with a maze of unlit, unidentified streets. Pay attention. Jacqueline meets you at the dock or car rental to lead you up to the house. The White Seagull is exactly as pictured. We are enviromentally aware and do what we can, so the not flushing every time to save water is ok with us.
The view is breathtaking. The breeze is beautiful, but there still is a.C. for those who prefer it. The tree frogs that sing throughout the night, to us, were music, not noise. Coffee on the balcony watching the sun come up and glitter the bay each morning is worth a million dollars. Wine on the roof top deck watching the sun go down and the moon glow across the water was worth another million. I have pictures of our view that most people only see in Travel brochures.
Helpful Hints: We spent everyday on a different beach. Bring Beach Towels. Bring Snorkel & mask. Comfortable shoes to hike to beach. Large beach bag. Buy your underwater camera at home. -

It's taken a while to write but I wanted to share our experience. This is great space for a single or couple. The pictures don't do it justice in terms of the size. It's huge, there are sliders that open in front that provide a great breeze. So much so that aC isn't really necessary although it is there. The view is outstanding as you look out over Cruz Bay. You are close to everything yet it is very private. Jaqueline is a great host. She's there if you need her but not intrusive at all. Trust me,when you walk down the steps to your villa and gaze out over the pool and down onto Cruz Bay all you can say is wow!

We rented the Tropical Gardens Villa which was the first of four villas built by the owner. It has great views of Cruz Bay, but is small and furnishings are dated. There is no washer/dryer on the premises so that was a disappointment. Also, the beautiful pool you see in the pictures is only for the more expensive and new villas to use.
There are very noisy tree frogs that start at dusk until dawn so we had to use the only a/c in the bedroom at night to drown out the loud sounds.
There are lots of steep steps down to the villa. -

My first time to St. John and I must say this property made the trip. I was down from the DFW area for just a short 4 day stay and Jaqueline made everything so very easy for me and my friend. We're both in our mid 20's and I have to say that from the time we got off the ferry in Cruz Bay and followed Jaqueline up to her beautiful property till the time we got back on the ferry there wasn't one thing we needed.
White Seagull is an amazing Villa unit overlooking Cruz Bay, Little Cruz Bay and Chocolate Hole. Her description is spot on and we spent many an early and late evening on the Sky Lounge enjoying the sunset and stars. Trully a dream of a property because of the 300 degree views around the island on the top of the hill. If you have the, chance rent a jeep - you can get lost on some of the most amazing beachs on the island where its only you and yours for the afternoon!
Jaqueline truly made our stay amazing, telling us where we should check out and what to do - yet you'd never know she was on the other side of the property. The pool and views for morning coffee and breakfast were insane. I would highly recomend this property and any of the villas/units to anyone. Having a dedicated host that can answer questions and help you make your travels easier was such a win! We were sad to go back to the mainland and I must say I am still going through post trip depression dreaming of carribean tradewinds, rum cocktails and great new friends.
The town of Cruz bay is only a short hop down the hill with plenty of shopping restruants and bars - despite the slow pace of St. John we were never bored and there was always something to do! I can't wait to go back and I know when I do I will be booking with Jaqueline and the White Seagull unit - waking up to the sunrise overlooking the caribbean whewww - what a most amazing trip!

White Sea Gull was amazing! The views were spectacular! Jacqueline was amazing, she attended to everything we could possibly need, the room was more beautiful than expected! Quiet, clean, lovely breezes, beautiful view any time of day! What a way to wake up! We couldn't have enjoyed this stay any more, just not enough good things to say about the rental or the owner!!! Such a romantic, relaxing place for two! Lots of personal touches from the owner, antiques throughout. We have been to St. John several times before, and this is by far the most charming, comfortable setting we have found! The furniture is beautiful, and Jacqueline has thought of every little thing! Beach chairs, cooler,& towels provided, just show up and enjoy!! Better than any picture, all that is advertised and more! We loved it! So much so, that I cried when I had to say goodbye and give the key back. Can't wait to see you again Jacqueline!

This place is comfortable, clean with nice furniture, and spacious. we had breakfast every morning on the balcony and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of St john. Jacqueline is friendly , she made sure we had our privacy and we didn't get bothered from our neighbors.

This was our first trip to St. John and it ranks the best among our other visits to the Caribbean. Jacqueline was warm and friendly and made it her business to make us feel welcome during our stay. She called our attention to the "Super Moon", which was full moon as it arose over the horizon. We rented the White Seagull villa with the roof deck which was the perfect spot for early morning coffee or sunset cocktails. The villa was equipped with a massive shower and plenty of fluffy towels, a kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator/freezer, toaster, coffee maker, and a gas grill if we chose to stay in and cook. Beach chairs, towels, and a cooler were provided which was great for our day trips to the beach and hiking. Bring your cell phone and use the Westin Hotel's wireless network. The television is down the stairs in a common sitting room - we didn't feel the need for one in our room. We never turned on the aC as the island breezes and ceiling fans were plenty for ventilation. You will want a 4-wheel drive vehicle to fully explore the island. We were fortunate to be there during the annual Blues Festival held in Coral Bay. This was a wonderful place to celebrate our 35th anniversary - not soon to be forgotten!

White Seagull was the best room we have ever had, and we have traveled all over!!! The pictures on the website, although lovely, don't even compare to the real thing. Decks on 3 sides, awesome views of neighboring islands and so convenient to Cruz Bay. The furnishings were beautiful and the bathroom-you have to see it to believe it!!! We'll definitely be going back.

From the first contact, I felt like I'd been friends with the owner for years. She made everything so easy and comfortable. Arranging a personalized ride from the airport in St Thomas to Redhook Ferry, meeting us at the car rental location to lead us to the property, giving a tour of the property with excellent incites regarding St John's history, geology and people. It was the best experience I've had renting. So many people we met on St John knew her and were very fond of her.
We stayed in the White Seagull, which has it's own skydeck. The views were spectacular, the furnishings were extraordinary and the owner thinks of everything to make a person comfortable, even a cooler, beach chairs & beach towels were provided for our trips to the beach. I can't say enough good things about our stay at the White Seagull. I would and have recommended it to my friends. -

Great location with the best 360 view on the Island. Jacqueline was a gracious Inn Keeper and the unit was spotless. Infinity pool was great, expecially at night looking at the Island lights in the distance.
