Blue Tang is nestled into a step-terraced hillside featuring hibiscus, bougainvillea, unique cactus plants, asparagus ferns, and orchids.
In this private and protected area, you will be greeted at the house by a trellis-covered patio of native stone and imported tile. Daytime, this patio is a secluded retreat for reading or sunbathing. In the evening, it’s a perfect spot for a romantic, candlelit dinner, or for entertaining friends at the table for six, designed by Jensen Jarrah. This intimate and private outdoor living space features hardwood furniture, a Weber gas grill, and a convenient pass-through from the kitchen.
On the w...ater-view side of the villa, a 70-foot long covered veranda is outfitted with super-cushioned Jensen Jarrah teak chaise lounges and an Ebel dining table with plush swivel chairs. You are invited by the comfort to spend all your time outside, lulled to distraction by the breezes and sunlight. (And don’t forget to say hello to the iguanas, sunning themselves on the trees off the deck.)
Two large air conditioned bedroom suites, at opposite ends of the villa, ensure the ultimate in privacy, with superb Bay views and easy access to the veranda. Sealy Posturepedic Pillowtop mattresses assure a rejuvenating rest each night. One suite features a queen-size four-poster bed with designer Lane Tradewinds furniture, an airy shower with skylight, and Mexican-tiled sink. The other bedroom has a king-size bed, rattan furniture and custom-built cabinets, drawers and vanity.
The 40-foot long Great Room has the living sections and dining areas. Colorful native art work and decorative folk pieces abound, and when combined with the designer furnishings (Lloyd Flanders, Braxton-Culler), create a distinct island ambience to the room.
A custom entertainment wall system is outfitted with a 27” TV set, cable TV, DVD player, and AM/FM/CD cassette stereo. A generous selection of CDs and movies on DVD is also included, as are games, puzzles, binoculars, and a library of recent best sellers. There is WiFi throughout the house, also on the patios and the pool deck.
On the other end is an intimate rattan seating arrangement featuring rattan couches, comfy cushions, and a large and low coffee table. It’s a perfect setting for the late afternoon cocktail and sunset watching, or a quiet evening of reading.
The generous gourmet kitchen features granite counters, custom Birdseye maple cabinets, a microwave, Mr. Coffee, blenders and a wine rack. The kitchen is outfitted with Fiesta dinnerware, native pottery, and a full complement of kitchen tools, gadgets, and utensils. There is also an entertainment bar and another refrigerator, for beverages.
The pool invites serious tanning sessions on the chaise lounges. Later, it can be a playground for a romantic private dip in the moonlight, under more stars than you have ever seen.
With a view of Great Cruz Bay and St. Thomas, Blue Tang is just a few minutes’ walk from the Westin Resort’s beach, quarter-acre pool, casual and fine restaurants, and gift shop (which gets USA TODAY, The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal – if you must!)
Blue Tang is an easy two-minute drive from a gourmet deli, five minutes to town and food stores, and a 10-minute drive to the world famous beaches of the U.S. Virgin Islands National Park.
There is a five-night minimum stay.
