Description from the manager

Luxuriously decorated 3 bedroom home on Gillam Bay.

Sandy Bay sits on Gillam Bay, one of the most beautiful locations on the island. This beach is renowned for it's white sandy beach and water that goes from turquoise, to teal to aqua blue. It is also known locally as "shell beach", and everyday you will see people combing the shoreline for sand dollars and shells of every color. The property is approximately a 10 minute walk to the historic town of New Plymouth, where you can enjoy the local restaurants, grocery stores, local museum and gift shops.

The upstairs has a large open living area with kitchen and dining room. There are...Read more

The best beach and accommodation on the island

Left on 01/28/2013 for a stay in December 2012

The ocean view will have you transfixed rom the moment you walk through the door. A breathtaking sweep of the best beach on the island, lots a privacy and a well appointed accommodation. I do a great deal of cooking and this kitchen has all the essentials and then some. A large master suite with a king sized bed and private bath is a great retreat. The spare bedroom has two queen beds so my teenage sons had plenty of space. My sister and brother in law stayed downstairs in the one bedroom apartment and they loved awaking to the sunrise over Gillam Bay from the bedroom French doors. They came upstairs every day and we had dinner on the big screened in room across the whole front of the house. The sons snorkeled right in front of the house and kept themselves busy the entire trip.
The pictures can't begin to describe the beauty of this property and location. And Green Turtle Cay and its residents are so kind and helpful. Totally loved my experience.

      Great house and location!

Left on 06/03/2012 for a stay in April 2012

We rented this with another family and had a wonderful time. The house was clean, in great shape and was exactly what we needed for young kids. The screened in porches were so nice to have! Loved the beach and the proximity to town. The service from the rental company was great, they were very nice. I would definitely go back and stay at this house!

Who could ask for anything more?

Left on 11/11/2011 for a stay in September 2011

It was just my wife and I, using only the lower level during the "off season". The accommodations were comfortable and as advertised with everything in working order. The Island Properties staff were pleasant, helpful, and responsive to every request we made.
Love the proximity to No-Name Cay, with its beautiful offshore reefs and safe and secluded anchorages where we have spent many weeks aboard our cruising sailboats over the years, since the 1980's.
Gtc is a time capsule back to a day when time moved at a slower, happier, friendlier pace.
Loved the roosters. why would someone want to sleep late in paradise?

      Beautiful home and beach

Left on 11/10/2011 for a stay in October 2011

We recently stayed at Sandy Bay house (Oct. 28th-Nov.5th) and had a wonderful experience with Island Property Management and the home. Sandy Bay is right on Gillam Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches on Green Turtle. The home has an amazing view and is really top-notch with wireless internet, satellite TV, washer-dryer, and beautifully decorated. This is our 6th trip to the island and one of our favorite rentals so far. As usual, the staff at IPM were fantastic, we were treated with friendliness and felt welcome, and had a great vacation.

      Amazing space... amazing time

Left on 06/07/2011 for a stay in May 2011

There were 4 girls on this trip... ages 28 to 50...everyone went crazy over the view. The location and proximity to town was perfect. The house was very comfortable and accomodations were comfortable. The only thing we couldn't get to cooperate was the wi-fi...but no big deal... I can accept that.
The spacious porch was the best part of the house and we spent a lot of time there. Would definately stay here again and again.

As good as a house as one could find!

Left on 06/02/2011 for a stay in May 2011

Our stay for 2 weeks on GTC in May 2011 was absolutely fantastic. The decision to rent Sandy Bay proved to be a wise choice. Sandy Bay's location on stunning Gillam Bay is convenient to New Plymouth and the rest of the island. The house is great for families with children or for couples as both floors are fully appointed. The screened-in decks are in good condition and allow for great views and entertaining. The house has modern appliances and has plenty of items for eating in. The outdoor shower is a plus and situated right where it needs to be. The barbeque grill is in good working order. The backyard has good grass leading to a fantastic little beach with calm water which is great for swimming and safe for children. This house and it's setting are simply ideal.

We had a wonderful time. The house was everything it said it was on the internet. My teenagers wished there was more to do on the island.

the best house on the best beach

Left on 05/27/2011 for a stay in September 2010

In our opinion, this house is the best house on the most beautiful beach. We lived on the large screened patio. There is truly nothing like a morning sunrise, watching the blues of the water change throughout the day, and enjoying the sunset/end of the day settle in from the patio of this house. The kitchen and house are well equiped, and there is a gas grill outside for use. The bed was comfortable, and all rooms are large. There is cable TV, but we did not watch it with exception of the weather channel for tropical updates (we were there at the height of hurricane season). We never tired of walking on the beach (many days the only ones), reading, napping, and generally just being lazy. While you can walk to "town", a golf cart is nice to explore the island and for that quick trip to town for a needed item or homemade bread. If you want night life, this island is not the place for you. However, if you want to meet kind, nice, friendly people and enjoy the quieter, slower pace of life, this is an island and house to do that.

Perfect location on a perfect tranquil bay!

Left on 05/20/2011 for a stay in April 2010

We had a party of 7 - 4 adults and 3 small children. The lower level was perfect for the grandparents and the screened in porches are great, and sometimes a must in the springtime. Perfect kitchen for preparing meals, and a tranquil private beach area on Gillam bay. The tide changes make it so much fun to explore the bay with children, and crystal clear waters make swimming enjoyable and safe for the kids. Our one complaint was the rooster crow wake up call at 5:30 every morning. We were here to relax, not be woken by a "natural alarm!" Tried to catch him, but no luck! I guess two complaints. Do not assume that someone can sleep on the advertised pull out couch. Wouldn't even allow our 7 year old to sleep on it. It is so old and worn and really needs to be replaced if they continue to advertise it as an extra bed. All other beds were very comfortable. Nothing special for tv or electronics, but should be turning them all off if planning a stay on GTC. You can walk to town from Sandy Bay, but a golfcart is still a must to enjoy the entire island. We can't wait to visit again. We have been 4 times in 6 years and have found nothing quite like GTC!

enjoying the beautiful yard Gillam Bay is perfect for kids! perfect and peaceful view from the screened in porch

      restful

Left on 05/20/2011 for a stay in March 2011

we enjoyed our time at Sandy Bay away from the hustle and bustle of tourists and "clubs" . Quiet beach strolls and reading fill our time. Unlike many beaches, Gillam is a "wild" beach ... where crabs and birds are your companions as you explore. People in town are friendly and helpful. If you need to be entertained, this is probably not the place for you. We love it!

      A Real Gem!

Left on 05/20/2011 for a stay in April 2011

We have been staying at Sandy Bay for years and would not think of staying anywhere else. Nothing is more relaxing than sitting on the screened porch and watching the sun rise over Gilliam Bay - it is quite unforgetable. The water and beaches are beautiful and if you enjoy bonefishing as we do you can't find a better place in the Bahama's. The house is perfect for our family with teenagers and young adults. It is well maintained and has a washer dryer which is very convenient. We are already planning our trip back next year.
