Our house, Le Pialle, lies on a hill 2.5 km to the north of Greve in Chianti.
The house is situated about 200 meters from the Chiantigiana, the scenic road SS. 222, leading through the Chianti region from Florence to Siena.

Versailles, FranceThe perfect base for touring Tuscany.
Left on 09/11/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We stayed in this apartment for 2 weeks at the end of august. We were worried about the heat but the apartment is part of a large villa which has very thick walls, so if you keep the windows closed during the day it stays really fresh inside. In the end we never felt too hot which was great. The apartment was exactly as advertised in the description and pictures. We loved the little garden outside our apartment, it's shady enough during the day and the hosts give you your privacy.
The kitchen was equipped with pots, pans, plates, glasses, mugs and cutlery. It also has a gas cooker and oven. We had everything we needed for cooking. The bed was comfy and the hosts provide fresh sheets and towels once a week. The bathroom was clean, just big enough and had a shower but no bath.
Regarding the location, it's perfectly positioned in the centre of Chianti. We were an hours' drive from the centre of Florence, and about an hour and a half from Sienna. We also spent some time near Piombino at a beautiful sandy beach which was about 2 hours drive away. There are also plenty of amazing little towns and villages to visit within an hours drive, including a quaint little town called Greve only 5 minutes down the road which has a supermarket, plenty of great shops and restaurants, and a market on Saturdays. The only thing I would say is you really need a car in this location if you want to do any touring, and to be careful driving up the path to the house as some potholes can open up if it rains.
Finally, as for the hosts, the Bonomi family, they were wonderful! They were very friendly and gave excellent advice on where to go and what to see. You'll meet Nardo and Isetta, their two lovely daughters, Tobia the dog and three chickens, all of whom will make you feel really welcome and taken care of (you might even get some fresh eggs hidden in the garden somewhere...).
I can't recommend this place enough. Enjoy the beautiful Tuscan sunset with some fantastic Chianti Classico (or Querciabella which Nardo will be happy to tell you all about) and see for yourself. -

Nardo, Isa and family(including the black chickens) are the best hosts. They gave us privacy, as well as helping us when we first arrived by driving us to Greve (5 min away). I said to Nardo, "please find us a mix of local red and white wines while we grab some foodstuffs for our kitchen". We were at the farmers coop market, fresh everything! In 20 minutes we had a basket full. He also helped us rent a car for 2 days to go to Montipulciano and Montalcino, villages of the Chianti wine road. We actually could walk down the path from Le Pialle and catch a bus too, on the wine road. It was an outstanding, quiet visit and we can't wait to go back. Nardo, an historian and the restoration expert of the "palacio" showed us the original plat book of the property, as well as when his father took over just after WW2. Iza is a restorative painter, actually delicately dealing with museum pieces. We called her "Mrs. Michelangelo! We had picnics under the pergolo, overlooking the Tuscan sun and hillsides. We loved it!

Sydney, AustraliaWe loved our stay at Le Pialle in Greve in Chianti
Left on 10/16/2011 for a stay in September 2011
The warm welcome from the whole Bonomi family made us feel at home. And what a charming home. Our very comfortable apartment had a private entrance in the main house, with delightful terrace, and spacious grounds overlooking amazing views, both near and far. We loved our stay at Le Pialle, and were so pleased to make the acquaintance of Isetta, a fine artist (and amazing muralist), Nardo, an historian, and their lovely young girls, Eliza and anna. They were all happy to talk to us, (in English, Italian, Russian), give us local advice, make bookings at recommended restaurants, tell us about their lives and ask us about ours. We shall long remember this definite highlight of our time in the Chianti Hills.
Warmest wishes Bonomi Family, from Ian and Lesley. -

SarajevoPart of the family, feels like home
Left on 08/29/2011 for a stay in August 2011
The Bonomi family welcomed us as if we were extended family who had come to visit them. We felt at home as soon as we arrived. It was from here that we fell in love with the Tuscan hills. The property is perched on a hill surrounded by cypress and other trees, looking westward which means great sunset views. The room is a small apartment attached to the back of the main house with a private garden and gate. It is very cozy and rustic, just like we had anticipated a Tuscan place to be. The kitchen is sufficiently equipped for all your cooking needs. Nardo Bonomi and his wife, Isseta, are a warm and blissful couple who work from home and so they are around most of the time if you need anything. He is a local historian and loves to talk about the region if you ask. Le Pialle has been his home for over 30 years. She is an artist and her delightful oil paintings of the Tuscan countryside decorate the interior of the apartment. Every morning, while sitting by the stone table, their pet rooster came to greet us as well as their friendly black Labrador, who always brings you a stick for to throw. Mosquitoes, like everywhere, can be a nuisance so be sure to bring protective spray for this time of the year. Le Pialle is only 20km south of Firenze and just a stone's throw from Greve. There is so much to see in just a few kilometers radius from here and they can help give you advice for even more off the beaten path places to visit like Montefioralle, Badia a Passignano, Castello di Verazzano and more, all within a few minutes drive from Le Pialle. We will be back!
