This mid-terrace cottage is situated 1.5 miles from the village of Grosmont in the North York Moors and sleeps four people in two bedrooms. Sleepers is a delightful mid-terraced cottage set 1.5 miles from the lovely village of Grosmont in the North York Moors National Park. This cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms, consisting of one kingsize double and one twin, as well as a family bathroom. The cottage also has a fitted kitchen with dining area, utility room, a sitting room with open fire and a sun room. Outside, this cottage has off road parking for two cars and a rear lawned garden with furniture and BBQ. Sleepers is an ideal holid...ay home for couples and families at any time of year.

Amenities: Portable electric heaters with open fire in sitting room. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, TV with FreeSat, DVD, library of books, DVDs and games. All fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Cot and highchair. Off road parking for two cars. Bike storage. Rear lawned garden with furniture and BBQ. One well-behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop and pub 1.5 miles. Note: There is a heritage railway line near to this cottage meaning some noise may be audible when steam trains pass (trains only operate during the day - 2 trains per hour).

Region: The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Town: The village of Grosmont lies in the centre of 'Heartbeat Country’ and offers a general store, post office, cafes and a pub. The village is close to many lovely villages, walks and the coast. The popular resort of Whitby is close by and is well worth exploring.Read more

All prices are inclusive of the booking fee. The "Min. Per Night" prices quoted are based on the weekly rental price, they are not applicable for short breaks. See our short break policy or ask for further details.
Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  My partner and I spent our first xmas together here, we had a lovely time thanks to the lovely cottage, snug and warm with the open fire, and a lovely xmas hamper was waiting for us with home made preserves, small xmas cake and xmas crackers things we didn't have room to bring with us, the lounge was decorated with lights and a christmas tree, that made it all the more special.   A lovely well equipped, homely cottage with friendly neighbours

  We (my hubby, 2 year old boy and myself) have just returned from a lovely family week away staying at this cottage. The cottage itself was everything we could ask for from a holiday home. Ideally situated, safe for our 2 year old, well equipped for our family and self catering needs, warm and welcoming. It was so nice, after a busy day out, to return back to the cottage, tuck the little one up in bed (cot provided), and settle in front of a real fire (yep...us townies can build legal fires!) with a home cooked meal and a glass of wine with the telly on. Didn't even need to do the pots as there's a dishwasher which is more than we have at home and despite being on holiday, also made use of the washing machine (we do have one of those at home)!
  
  Couldn't have asked for more from the cottage especially considering the price we paid (over a bank holiday) - really good value for money plus you have a local information guide provided as Fred, next door at no. 11 is really friendly and knows everything (it seems) about the area and doesn't mind sharing his knowledge.
  
  The cottage is about 1.5miles from Grosmont - a really easy walk along the rail trail (probably quicker than driving if the ford is too deep to cross!). There's a Co-op there that has some basic supplies and a pub that we didn't use. Of course there's also the train station there as well as the working sheds. You can drive to places like Whitby, Scarborough, Runswick Bay, Pickering etc. all in about an hour so ideally situated for coast and country alike. Where the actual cottage is there is nothing (including 'phone signal - bliss!) albeit a telephone box, post box (which still collected during the bank holiday break - how cool is that?!) and of course the views of the Pickering - Whitby train line. With this in mind, make sure you have some basics with you when you arrive.
  
  Top tips - if you fancy a train / walk trip - catch the train from Grosmont to Goathland and walk back to the cottage along the rail trail (approx 3miles). Do it that way round and it's downhill! If you have young children (2-10yrs old?) can definitely recommend a trip to the Playdale Farm Centre at Cayton, near Scarborough. Well worth the drive and good no matter what the weather as includes indoor and outdoor play areas as well as all the animals.
  
  Only criticisms;
  
  1. Ignore all directions to cottage given as part of the booking. You'll probably find an OS map best or speak directly to the owner. We had a needless journey through a ford and added a pointless few miles on to our trip.
  2. The wall between the bedrooms isn't really a wall...more like a large fence! I could hear every breath and turn my 2 year old made. Probably not a problem if travelling as a family with kids but might be a bit awkward if travelling as 4 adults.
  
  We don't tend to return to places only because there's so many places to visit, but if the opportunity ever arose, would have no qualms about staying here again, or recommending to others based on above points.

  Fantastic cottage with all facilities. Tranquil and perfect for a short stay for us. Because of time of year journey to Whitby a little longer than expected but on a quiet road. Will stay again because of comfort and our dog was welcomed beyond expectation.
