Belvedere is aptly named for from the furnished terrace with its 360-degree view and the large living room window of this first floor apartment there are panoramic views of wide green valley leading to the sea. On clear days you may even see the coast and Giglio island. From the entrance there are doors to a double bedroom with queen-size bed, a shower room and a large living/kitchen with an open fireplace and a small sofa placed to enjoy it, a dining table with the beautiful view, and basic cooking facilities that include a two burner stove, an electric oven and a small refrigerator. During months when the evenings are cooler there is also a...n eco-friendly stove to take the chill off.
Florence is only 90 mins. drive through superb country. As well as visiting famous towns such as Massa Marittima and Siena, from Caminino you can easily explore the park of the Uccellina, the Etruscan cities of Roselle and Vetulonia, Pitigliano and Sovana. The beach is half an hour away, and it is easy to visit Argentario, or you can take a boat to islands such as Giglio, Giannutri and Elba. Add the comfort and peaceful beauty of Pieve di Caminino and you have a recipe for a wonderful holiday.

Pieve di Caminino is a special place and the perfect location to explore the Tuscany countryside. Having booked through the very helpful Invitation to Tuscany we chose the Belvedere apartment which is spacious with a large panoramic window and a delightful terrace which enjoys sunshine from morning until about mid-afternoon. We visited Siena (about an hour's drive away) and Castiglione della Pescaia (about half an hour away), and enjoyed a day trip to the island of Elba, as well as visiting lots of the surrounding hilltop villages including Roccatederighi from where we hired bikes. The owner Riccardo could not have been more helful and will create a route to suit your taste and fitness and will even accompany you (highly recommended!) keeping you well informed about the area which certainly added to our enjoyment as did being collected by his wife at the end of our trip which spared us all that cycling back uphill! Roccatederighi is walkable from Caminino but only if you enjoy a very long uphill walk. In our late 50's, it took my husband and I about 80 minutes to get there and about 50 minutes to return, thankful of the Caminino pool to cool off in and also for the use of our car for future journeys! There are lots of lovely restaurants in the area. We particularly enjoyed the De Nada in Roccatederighi which has a small but lovely outside terrace from which to enjoy dinner and beautiful evening sunsets. We also enjoyed dining at Il Corso and La Conchiglia in Roccatederighi, Locanda nel Cassero in Civitella and a pizza restaurant in the hilltop village of Sticciano which offers outstanding views. But equally enjoyable was buying local meats, cheeses, bread and wine and dining in our apartment or on the terrace and enjoying the wonderful views. Pieve di Caminino will not be for you if you are looking for lively nightlife and characterless accommodation but if you are looking for something different and a memorable Tuscany experience then it's simply perfect!

A truly lovely place to stay. Wonderful views, friendly, helpful owner. Our only quibble was that every place we wanted to visit was quite a drive away. But having the peace of the beautiful countryside made it worthwhile.
