Woodbox is our home in Playa Junquillal, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The home was developed by a locally renowned architect and has been uniquely designed to blend into the local flora.
The entrance to the house is gated and will be unlocked for your arrival. Upon entering the grounds you will be entering a paradise within a paradise. The tranquil rock garden leads directly to a set of glass doors into the home. The home has been designed with sweeping glass windows and doors throughout, providing plenty of sunlight in all the living areas.
The four bedrooms are set up as follows:
-Bedroom one is on the first floor of the home a...nd has a luxurious queen-size bed. The room has its own private terrace and en-suite bathroom. (There is an additional half-bath located on the first floor)
-Bedroom two is located on the second floor of the home and it also has both a king-size bed and its own en-suite bathroom
-Bedroom three is on the second floor and has two queen-size beds. This room has its own bathroom and is ideal for either a kids room or for a group of friends!
-The master bedroom encompasses the entire third floor, along with its own en-suite bathroom and private balcony. The room is absolutely stunning and has views of the Pacific Ocean!
The first floor is a central gathering area for all members of your family or group. The gourmet kitchen has been thoughtfully laid out and includes a five-burner stove top as well as a convection oven. A special bonus is the wine refrigerator for the oenophiles! The dining area has a large, rectangular table with benches to accommodate up to ten people eating at the same time. The family area has a comfortable seating arrangement along with a 46' Sony LED/LCD flat-panel television and Samsung stereo system. Bring your iPod or iPhone to plug into the stereo!
Just off the central gathering area is another set of glass doors leading out to the pool area. The entire group will end up hanging out here, as many of your meals will be prepared on the outdoor barbeque and also because the pool is located in this area. The pool area also has an outdoor shower to for a quick rinse either before going into the pool, or after. For a quick meal, the Iguanazul is just across the street.
Across the road is the beach and the Pacific Ocean. Swimming, surfing, snorkeling are all activities which can be pursued here and more than likely there won't be anyone else around!
Recreational activities abound in Costa Rica and there are many things to do either within a short drive, or for the more adventuresome the volcanoes are a few hours drive away. Please contact us for tours, ATV rides, zip lines, and horseback riding. The home comes equipped with surf boards, snorkeling gear, and bicycles for use during your stay at Woodbox!
Activities:
Wildlife abounds in this part of the country!! Howler monkeys travel through this area in the evening hours. Leatherback turtles lay their eggs on Playa Junquillal September - March. Many types of exotic birds nest in this area. Other types of activities are available, including tours of the country, zip lines, horseback riding, ATV's, and restaurants/nightlife are a thirty minute jaunt to Tamarindo. There are also secret gems in the area, including local 'sodas' and full-service restaurants serving everything from wonderful local Tico meals to unbelievable (one of the best meals we have ever experienced!) continental cuisine.
