Description from the owner

Experience traditional Mexican callejon living in the most European of all Mexican cities and the jewel of Mexican historical travel. This newly renovated, 2 bedroom home is in the heart of Guanajuato, just a 10 minute walk to the central market and Alondiga.

The Casita de Cata is located on a callejon (pedestrian walkway accessing houses above commercial area) above the bustle of the main street. It has a traditional talavera tile kitchen with new fridge and freezer with everything you need to cook yourself. Toaster oven and coffee maker. Good and bad

Left on 11/02/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We loved the apartment. It was clean and charming. It was private and quiet. It was close to the center of town. Two downs: The walk up the callejon to the place was a killer. The dogs barked all night.

A unique stay in the interior mountains

Left on 11/17/2011 for a stay in March 2011

We are seniors in our mid 70s and we spent the month of March at Casita de Cata and our daughter and her husband joined us for two weeks.
Casita de Cata looks out over a neighbourhood of colourful houses nestled together in an illogical pattern. Like most houses in Guanajuato it is reached by a Callejone or passageway of climbing steps. The separate bedroom and bathroom on each floor of the casita is very convenient and the sunny Mexican kitchen is a great place to breakfast in the morning. During the late afternoon heat we usually relaxed on the rooftop and occasionally watched and heard the exuberant Mexican marching bands in the street below. We enjoyed the fact that the casita was very private during our stay.
Guanajuato is such a different part of Mexico and set in a bowl in the hills. During the day it is hot but cools of very quickly in the evening when all the town comes onto the streets. Making our way through the crowded streets at night to Jardin de La Union to the restaurants and to watch the Minstrels performing in their medieval costumes we always felt safe.
It's a place to discover on foot but one can always use the local buses or take a short taxi ride to the bus station for connections to San Miguel De'Allende,Dolorez Hildago or Queretaro etc.
We had very pleasant dealings with our landlord-thank you Robert for helping us to discover Guanajuato.

      Adorable and Comfortable Casita

Left on 05/15/2010 for a stay in April 2010

Having spent some time at La Casita in Guanajuato,
I would urge anyone to rent this house. It is
      comfortable and well-appointed, and there's a great
sense of security to the home. It's located in a
neighborhood called Tepetapa, which is a safe and
traditional neighborhood of Mexican families and we
enjoyed the friendliness of the people in that
area. We liked the fact that there weren't many
other foreigners there. It's an easy walk to
downtown from La Casita, and the neighborhood has
recently added some nice stores and eateries. If
you like to cook at home, the grocery store and
little markets are also convenient and close.
Even though we were just two people, it was
really nice to have the up- and down-stairs, with
two bedrooms and two full baths. My husband was
sick two nights, so it was kind of helpful to have
the two levels and bathrooms. The wireless
internet worked great so we were able to work right
from the house, and we enjoyed the sunset from the
rooftop terrace. Robert was great to work with and
I would highly recommend this home for your next
      Guanajuato vacation!

      Comfortable & Great Location

Left on 05/06/2010 for a stay in October 2009

This is a great place to stay if you're looking for a genuine Mexican experience. Right in the heart of a locals-only neighbourhood in a city that doesn't see a lot of American tourists, Casita de Cata is comfortable, private and secure.
We stayed for a week during Cerventino and had no problems at all. A short walk to buses, shops and centro, we would stroll for hours every day. There's so much to see and explore. Have been back since and would have stayed again, except they were already booked.
