Description from the owner
Once the residence of the Marchionneschi family, the ancient villa is located in a peaceful spot a stone’s throw from Guardistallo, a medieval hillside village in the heart of the Etruscan Coast, 7 miles from sandy beaches and shady pinewoods. Recently restored, it retains its original character as a sober, elegant private residence. Villa Elena is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday in a family atmosphere, marked by unspoilt nature, sport, culture, traditional local events, and fine cuisine.

Additional Location Information
The Etruscan Coast
The Etruscan Coast is in the centre of Tuscany, between Versilia to the north and the Maremma region to the south. An area stretching for 50 miles from Livorno to Piombino, characterized by spectacular rocks and wide sandy beaches facing the Isle of Elba. Not far inland are the gently rolling Tuscan hills covered by vineyards and olive groves, a string of medieval towns and villages, and the magnificent Etruscan city of Volterra. The area is best known for olive oil and wine (two fine wines, Sassicaia and Ornellai, are produced in Bolgheri), but there is a wide range of fine local produce. The unique microclimate (mild winters and dry, breezy summers) make the Etruscan Coast the ideal place for a holiday immersed in nature with endless opportunities for relaxation, sport, culture and fine cuisine.
Guardistallo
Originally known as Gualdistallo, this medieval hillside village, whose first human settlement dates back to 4-5,000 years BC, flourished under the Longobards, and later under the Gherardesca counts. The remains of the castle can still be admired today. In the village there are shops selling local produce, cafés, restaurants, a pharmacy and a bank. Guardistallo is an ideal base for day-trips to the most important tourist destinations in Tuscany: Florence 75 miles, Siena 50, Lucca 50, Pisa 35, San Gimignano 30, Volterra 20, Massa Marittima 45, Bolgheri 9, Casale Marittimo 1.5, spa towns (Casciana, Venturina), national parks, and the Isle of Elba. Pisa Airport (served by Ryanair) is 35 miles away.

LondonVilla Elena - great location in a great region of Italy
Left on 06/20/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Guardistallo is a great location to stay in when visiting Tuscany, particularly as a young family. Villa Elena was a good base to explore the region...relaxed, friendly and central to within the village, but mostly quiet when we needed it to be...
We were also easily able to visit Volterra, Siena, Lucca, the Bolgheri wine region & the coast easily on day trips...important to consider when travelling with our young daughter and yet enjoying some adult time.
All in all I'd recommend Villa Elena as good holiday location in Tuscany, particular before the crowds arrive :-)Response from serena sforzini - 06/26/2012

AmsterdamLovely residence in a great location
Left on 09/02/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We spent a week here in august 2011. The residence consists of a villa with apartments and other apartments in separate buildings. The location is lovely and has many good facilities. Our apartment was one of those not in the villa and I would recommend those for families as they have a terrace or balcony, while those above the ground floor in the villa do not. The site is well-situated as it is just a short walk into the village centre for shopping and dining, which is an advantage compared to many such holiday residences. It is a few kilometres to the beach at Cecina (where there is also a large market on Tuesday mornings).
Free wifi in the main building.
The owner was very friendly and helpful with any questions.
The apartments are well-equipped.
The village of Guardistallo itself is a real village with real shops, restaurants and cafes used by the locals, not just for tourists
all in all, this is first class accomodation for the price and my family and I will happily return -

HeidelbergOnce again a very nice experience
Left on 06/25/2011 for a stay in June 2011
After we stayed in the main building for 2 weeks in 2009, we decided this year to rent an appartment in the Villa Elena areal. And again, it was a very pleasant experience. Nice appartment with 2 bed and bath rooms with direct exit into the very nice garden.
