The Bay House was absolutely beautiful. We opened the door and were pleasantly surprised at how modern the home is. The on-line pictures are realistic. The house was immaculate and extremely comfortable, and located in a nice quiet neighborhood. We enjoyed the hot tub nightly. The house is located near Guerneville, as well as a short drive to Duncan Mills. We enjoyed all the quaint shops in both towns. Especially Mr. Trombly's Tea shop. This is definitely a do over! thank you so much Megan. You made everything so easy.

Left on 01/10/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We were happily surprised by the lovely backyard garden, babbling brook, and well manicured surroundings. The house itself was perfect for our needs --- plenty of space. We spent most of our time downstairs and outside; the upstairs family room was nice to have but didn't get much attention. I would guess that children would get more use out of this space, but ours was an adult trip. The beds were comfy and the extra 1/2 bath came in handy when the girls were getting ready. Also enjoyed having a washer and dryer on premise, and even though it was located out back, it didn't matter. When I called to report a light out in the main bathroom, Russian River Vacation Homes were quick to respond and took care of it the same day. The home is close to downtown Guerneville, grocery shopping, Northwood Golf Course, Armstrong Woods and Sonoma Wine Country. And only a short trip to Duncans Mills where many quaint little shops are located. Especially enjoyed Jim of Jim and Willie's Antiques and Collectibles and David at Sophie's Cellars. David will set you up with the best wineries and eateries to visit for a day long trip to Healdsburg on Westside Road and back. Would highly recommend the Bay House to anyone interested in a full and delightful experience of the Russian River/Sonoma Valley.

Bay House is a home where one could easily spend more time outdoors than indoors. The garden is so peaceful and relaxing, and you came at the perfect time of the year to enjoy the ambiance of the creek!
I'm so glad you enjoyed our stay and that you got to see a bit of what makes this corner of the world so special. We'd love to have you stay with us again!

This home is awesome! It is in a neighborhood that is unique and near westside road where all our favorite wineries are located. The kitchen could use a makeover but we enjoyed it!
There is a nice patio and spa which we enjoyed in the afternoon and evenings. Will definitely be coming back.Response from Russian River Vacation Homes - 10/27/2012

Hello!
Thank you for the review! I love Guernewood Park, but I live just down and on the other side of the creek, so I'm a bit partial... It's a great neighborhood for walking, even in the evening.
If you'd like to send me a specific email about the kitchen, I'm happy to forward your thoughts to the owner and see what we can do. The house is a remodeled cabin... Kitchens are the hardest part to make current - I've just done mine and it's tough! But, as you said, the house is awesome and hanging out on the patio is great!
Thank you!

This actually should be 3.5 stars.
So the staff at Russian River Homes was super nice to work with. My issue was the house was not that clean. It had a great location, nice size, comfortable bed, hot tub, etc. It just was not clean. The bedroom needed to be swehadpt (dog hair was all over). The kitchen counters had not been thoroughly cleaned in a while, they were tile with gross grout.Response from Russian River Vacation Homes - 10/27/2012

Hello!
Thank you for sharing your concerns - but we also wish you'd called us right away so we could send the cleaner back to make it right. We schedule deep cleanings at the change of the seasons to get all the tougher stuff that can't be done in a four hour cleaning between guests! Bay House had a very busy summer and fall, so was probably due sooner than some homes.
I hope you'll come stay with us again so we can show you how awesomely tidy Bay House can be!

House was even nicer than photos depicted, we used outdoor area and hot tub every day. House backs up to a creek in a quiet neighborhood but is extremely private, grocery stores and other amenities in Guerneville are 5 minutes away by car. We prepared several meals and found the kitchen to be well equipped. The landscape design and maintenance associated with maintaining a garden like this in a rental is very impressive, and the location (Guerneville) is no more than 30 minutes away from wine country and the coast, which is a huge plus. I have stayed in both Napa Valley and in Sonoma (the town) and this is by far my favorite location and trip out of all three.

The house was great! We ate breakfast there every day and vastly enjoyed the loft for games & movies. The yard was beautiful and we had a great time at the surrounding wineries & eateries. We did have a few complaints: there was no dishwashing liquid, yet we were expected to wash all of our own dishes, and the bed in the second bedroom felt like it was going to fall apart... definitely needs replacing.
With those two things fixed this home would receive five stars from me! I will definitely remember it if I'm ever in the area again. I loved the modern architecture, lighting and flooring (dusty old quilts and teddy bears in all the rooms are really not my thing, I appreciated the minimalist & modern decor). Really a great house in a great location. -

The staff at Russian River Vacation Rentals was consistently responsive and accommodating. The directions and instructions they provided were extremely detailed and easy to follow. And their response to a broken shower head was immediate and efficient.
As for the Bay House, we loved the atmosphere inside and out. The wood-burning fireplace and hot tub were definite pluses and all necessary amenities were provided.
On the negative side, the upstairs location of the living area called for frequent trips up and down (although the exercise was appreciated). And, if we could improve on the rental, we'd ask for more property and privacy.
Regardless, we will definitely recommend and call on Russian River Vacation rentals in the future.
Many thanks and Happy New year!Response from Russian River Vacation Homes - 01/07/2012

Thank you for the great words!
I remember your stay and sending the plumber over! I'm glad it worked out well - and that you called right away so we could get someone out immediately!
We try to show the layout in the home photos and describe the upstairs living room as best as possible, but for folks with stairs-issues, this is not a perfect fit. One nice thing is that anti-slip, grip-y things were installed on the staircase, so if you are walking up and down in socks you don't slip and slide on the stairs! It's special for indoor use and don't detract from the good-looking wood...
We're glad you had a great time and hope we'll see you again!

We were in Sonoma to do the Vineman Half Triathlon. There were 6 of us, 4 racers and 2 support friends.
The house is gorgeous with an amazing backyard with BBQ and hot tub (which we put to use both pre and post race)
It was only about 1-1/2 to race start, which was great for us racers... we just rode our bikes there :)
The only downfall is that 4 of us have at&T; as our cell phone provider and there was zero phone service in the house :( ... which if you are looking to unplug... this could be a good thing :).Response from Russian River Vacation Homes - 09/24/2011

We're so glad you enjoyed Bay House for the Vineman! We love the athletes that stay with us each year... We're waiting for the day one of our guests wins, so we can help celebrate with an extra bottle of bubbly!
As houses go, Bay House is pretty darn cool. Well situated on Hulbert Creek (which feeds into the Russian River) and has all you need to chill for a few days.
It's true though, AT&T cell service is hit & (mostly) miss in this area and that canyon in particular. Verizon has the best service locally, but almost everyone has coverage right in downtown Guerneville. It helps that Bay House has wifi, so you can log in that way too.

Very much enjoyed the house. Was clean, modern, quiet, working amenities. Our only issue was it was a hike to the center of town. Tried walking it a few times and it took about 30-45 min. Other than that though, the backyard was serene and really had no other complaints!

Hi!
Thank you for staying with us, at Bay House! We think the back yard is great... Very nicely landscaped, with a separate raised deck for the hot tub, an outdoor shower and lovely seating area.
Downtown Guerneville is 1.5 to 2 miles from Bay House... It's a mostly level walk - no steep sections, just a couple low rises - with little to moderate traffic on Old Cazadero Road. There are decent shoulders along Hwy 116 and my dog and I walk it pretty regularly. It keeps the two of us in shape!

The five of us enjoyed Bay House. Location was great. Would definitely find a different housekeeper for the interior of the house, as the kitchen was not particularly clean. Garden deck was just great.
Bed in master bedroom needs to be replaced--it was intensely uncomfortable for those who slept in it.
The garden/deck area was the best feature at this rental, by far.
The folks at Russian River Vacation Homes were just great and so very helpful. I would definitely utilize their services again, but probably would choose another property. Need more space! All and all it was a wonderful time with great friends at this cute home.Response from Russian River Vacation Homes - 09/24/2011

Hi There!
I'm glad to hear we were so helpful! But, I'm sorry to hear you didn't love the house as much as some of the other reviewers... We did, just recently, have someone check out the bed frame in the master bedroom. It's an Ikea bed and was suffering from a missing support section, so additional supports were added. From what I heard, it was a design issue, not a broken or missing part. But it should be much better now! The guests that called it in were thrilled with the change that day, so I encourage folks to call us whenever something is amiss. We may not know about it... And we can probably fix it that day (if parts are available). Feed back about cleaning, good or bad, is always welcome so we can keep cleaners and inspectors on their toes!
Again, thank you for sharing feedback so we can make everyone's stay great!

We enjoyed out stay very much. Prior to this 4 night stay we had always just spent a day in Russian River. This was a getaway that we most certainly needed and it did not dissapoint. The house and the grounds were exacly as they appeared on line. It was quiet and relaxing for us adults; and safe for the boys to walk around and explore. With the town being just 10 mins away by car everything we needed or wanted to do was close at hand. We are already talking about going again next year. We had one small issue with a toilet that backed up but once we called to report it someone was there within 30 mins and took care of it. Very nice place; enjoyed it very much.

I'm glad the boys had a chance to explore and poke around in the creek... We (in the office) all have favorite spots to share and I live on the same creek and walk it all summer long, so you have the best tips on swimming holes and cool spots.
I hope we'll see you again this coming summer -

Beautiful, clean modern home. Comfortable beds and linens. Well-outfitted kitchen (we cooked several meals). Easily cleaned floors worked well with our two dogs. Hot tub under the stars was fabulous! This rental is best for adults due to all the matte paint and things in the home that seem fancy and or breakable. Only two downsides: Living room is not very cozy and there is no storage area for food in the kitchen. Otherwise, a lovely and unique grown-up getaway. We'll be back!

Hi!
Thanks for sharing a review! We think Bay House is a great spot too!
Like lots of remodeled cabins and cottages in this area there is not an excess of storage space in the kitchen, but it's sufficient for most folks... And there's lots of counter space too. And I think the living room is cozier now than it was in 2010... It's a comfortable, more modern decor.
Love the star-gazing from the hot tub!

Left on 10/01/2010 for a stay in August 2010
My new husband and I were looking for a nice quiet place to relax on our honeymoon. We definitely made the right choice. We were able to relax and go out and enjoy the area. The town was wonderful, with lots of choices for food. We were not far from the coast, wineries, and other tourist areas.
The rooms were good size with quality bedding. The bathrooms were great, and the living room was big and relaxing.
Even though it was just my husband and I, I would go back to this house with a group of friends or family.
The only downfall we had was we were unable to find the washer and dryer. We thought we had found it but were unable to enter into the room because the lock was broken. If we had called the minute we realized it was broken it would have been fixed right away. We didn't realize till later that, that was the room with the washer and dryer. Other than that we had a great time!Response from Russian River Vacation Homes - 01/11/2012

My husband and I decided we needed to get away, so we packed up the five dogs and headed to Guerneville. We were originally scheduled to stay in a smaller house with a fenced yard, but because of mechanical issues with that place, we were upgraded to Bay House. [And I have to say that the rental agency could not have been any nicer or more helpful about the situation. Five-star service!] Although the yard at Bay House isn't completely fenced (which presents issues when you're trying to let five dogs out for their late-night business), the house is amazing. It's clean, quiet, comfortable, modern and well appointed. We couldn't have asked for more. While it was a longer walk to Guerneville proper that we originally expected, it was a very short drive. It also added to the quiet and serenity of our stay to be a little further out of town. All in all, a very successful vacation.
