Shreveport, LouisianaFabulous Home with Great Location.
Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in August 2012
This is a wonderful, spacious home with a great kitchen and family area. Just across the street from the beach. Practically no difference from being on the beach. The owners have provided some little extras for family activities and helpful information. However, the beds were a significant disappointment. Even the master bedroom only had a double bed. Another bedroom had a double bed and the third two twin beds. This is obviously a location for multiple families and I doubt anyone sleeps on a double bed anymore. The bedding did not match up with the excellence in every other area. Because of that we will probably try something else next year.
We played golf at the Kiva Dunes course and they have almost lost their greens. It is a shame because everything else was excellent. The green fee was fair and the people were so nice.Response from Diehls - 01/29/2013

Hello, we'd like to point out that the beds in the house are exactly as described on the site: four singles on ground floor, a queen, two singles and a queen on second floor.
Sadly we are not able to control the quality of the Kiva Dunes greens but rely on their excellent staff to create the best possible golf experience with the weather and resources available.
Best wishes for a great vacation next year on the Gulf. -

Our family loved the stay. The house is roomy and well laid out with great views from the top floor of the beach and the golf course. The home is very convenient to the beach and the pools are just a short walk or ride away. The beach is beautiful and we weren't covered up with others all around us. The location is more secluded but it is only a short drive to restaurants and activities. We feel like it is the best of both worlds!

Pittsburgh, PASo much, so close, so beautiful.
Left on 12/29/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Given this property's location and beauty, the only downside is needing to make choices. A beautiful long ocean beach is right across the street, the golf course is in the backyard, the swimming pool is down the street, Mobile Bay is 500 yards out the back yard, and wildlife preserves are nearby. Runners and cyclists appreciate the relative calm, but the hospitality of Gulf Shores is a short car ride away.
With large covered porches and top-floor kitchen, family room, laundry/pantry, and den the views are great, regardless of the weather. The elevator makes all floor access easy for anyone. The mid-floor contains multiple bedrooms and baths, while the lower floor has a great dorm-style room for kids!
The house easily fits larger families, and the area provides so many great recreational and leisure choices, that multiple visits are required to sample all of them. -

I have stayed at this beautiful beach house several times, and have found it to be a wonderful stay every time. The house is beautifully designed and decorated, and has gorgeous views of the ocean from the entire first floor and some of the second floor as well. Additionally, it has a great kids room on the first floor which is tiled so that you don't track all that sand into the house. The rooms are lovely, the kitchen is fully stocked for cooking of any kind, and there is room for everyone to have space and not be too tightly packed together. There is also an elevator for getting the groceries up to the third floor kitchen or to help less-abled guests. The location is also fantastic- beautiful beach just a tiny walk over the dunes away (2 minutes, really), and you're far enough away from the main of Gulf Shores that you get a lovely piece of beach all to yourself.

The house is in a great location with lots of privacy in a beautiful gated community; it has a great layout and phenomenal views of the Gulf. White sand beach is absolutely beautiful. The golf course is breathtaking - challenging but lots of fun. Historic Ft Morgan is right down the road - a great side-trip. My daughter challenged me to a bungi jump at Guf Shores => another great bucket list item... LuLu's Restaurant in Gulf Shores is tons of fun. Can't wait to go back.

My family (all five of us) have had the good fortune to stay in the house on multiple occasions. Each visit has been thoroughly enjoyable. The house affords plenty of room for us all, plus extended family members and friends. The floor plan works well as it provides a comfortable balance between privacy and family gatherings. Its location is well situated as it is within close walking distances to the beach, pools, tennis courts and golf course. The views from the balconies toward the Gulf, the golf course and westward for sunsets are spectacular. It has become one of our favorite vacation spots.

My golf group was greated at the Kiva Lodge and Clubhouse by Kerri and the Kiva staff who had all our information and keys,it took less than 5 minutes to be on our way to the house, aptly named the Sand Castle. Unlike most beach houses that waste the top floor as bedrooms, this house has used the top floor as the entertainment and living area. Dominated by great views of both the beach and the golf course, the third floor has a beautiful wide open kitchen, family room and den. Our group lived on this floor, playing cards, sitting on the swinging chairs, playing chess and checkers on the kid friendly set in the living room and eating great seafood cooked in the open kitchen. The bedrooms are comfortable, and being on seperate floors from the living area, made putting tired kids and adults to bed easy. The big tub in the master was a hit.
The house is right across the street from the walkway to the beach. This made it easy to grab another cooler whenever it was required. When we finished at the beach we walked to the pool and enjoyed a refreshing swim and made lunches at the pool bar. We also managed to sneak in a couple rounds of golf and when one of our party was having a bad round, he just got off the cart in the back yard of the house on #14, sat on the porch and waited for us to finish.
We also got to do some inshore fishing in the bay directly across the street from the entrance to Kiva Dunes. In a small 22 foot boat, we motored out about 2 miles to Shellbank Reef and caught plenty of speckled trout for dinner.
It was a great week of golf, fishing and just hanging out. Low key and uncrowded. This was a perfect getaway from reality. Definately Paradise on Earth
