Area Information:
In Ortakent (half-way between Gundogan and Bodrum) there is a large water park. It is opposite the KIPA hypermarket which is part of the Tesco chain and sells many well known Tesco products as well as local and international brands. Gumbet and Bodrum are only 20-30 minutes away for those want the busy night life and bustling resorts.
Also look out for the markets, typically the Turgutreis one on Saturdays. Yalikavak is usually on Thurdays and Gündogan on Wednesdays. There are no fixed prices so don't forget to haggle.
Hiring a car is the easiest way to get around, but you can manage without one. If you're staying for a few weeks you may like to save some money and shed the car for some of the time and use the local dolmas, or mini-bus service, which operates cheaply and efficiently throughout the peninsula. Yellow taxis are good for short journeys but can add up a bit on longer ones. Many people hitch around the area and it is not uncommon for lifts to be offered by drivers who are going the same way as you.

The only drawback of our visit to Villa Selim was that it only lasted a week. We would've wanted to stay so much longer. Nestled against a cliff with the most spectacular views one can imagine, Villa Selim is an oasis. The house has everything you need. There's a small shop nearby to get basics and various grocery stores within a quick drive. Driving to Bodrum is 15 min, airport is 45 min away. If you're looking for a tranquil vacation, this is for you.
I wouldn't recommend taking your little children there though unless you want to drive to Gundogan beach everyday. Also, although the villa is equipped for 8 people, there's only one shower, which makes it harder for everyone in the party to get ready.
Other than these little details, I can't find fault with Villa Selim. Mr. Ileri was very attentive to each detail and extremely helpful along the way. We're looking forward to visiting again.

We were two families with teenagers in the house and very much appreciated it be calm, well furnished and clean. The view from the two terrasses is astonishing and taking meals there is a real pleasure. M. Ileri was available at any time and always ensured we were not missing anything. His rental guide gave a lot of useful information. We enjoyed having both the swimming pool (the children especially) and the sea at walking distance. We warmly recommend this villa.

Thank you Levent for providing such a lovely villa in a wonderful community. Villa Selim is perfect for a family with kids, family union or just friends. We found your villa to be very clean and well furnished. It is situated on the higher levels of the resort so wonderful for taking in the scenery and views as you make your way down to the pool (just 50 meters). All the staff we met and spoke to were very friendly and helpful. We took the half day Boat trip out which takes you to one of the outlying islands (about 30mins away) to swim and they provide a BBQ dinner onboard before heading back to the village. This was definitely worth it - we could sunbathe on the boat or swim in the sea when anchored up but it was most memorable for the views of the coastline and refreshing sea breeze! The Village of Gundogan and its harbour are perfect for people and boat watching. We also spent a day in Bodrum, just 25mins away by car. The beach has good facilities and is vast! Although we only stayed 12 nights, we didn’t feel rushed as the atmosphere at the community is very relaxing and tranquil. We would definitely recommend staying at Villa Selim to anyone looking to stay around the Bodrum Peninsula and we look forward to returning there ourselves.

The villa was fantastic. You have to see how wonderfully the villas has been furnished. My wife and our toddler, along with two gay friends of ours, felt very comfortable at this villa (even more than so our home in London). Mr. Levent Ileri, the owner of this villas, has been a great help. We have never seen such a great respect and treatment by anyone in our lives. Levent lives in Washington, DC USA, but he has been in touch with us almost once a week prior to our trip, asking our special needs, car hire arrangements, and called us during our stay to make sure that everything is alright, and called us after our stay about our experiences in Turkey. We made a great friend, and we will definitely rent any property from Mr. Levent Ileri. If you have not made your reservation to spend a quality time in Turkey, please hurry, as Levent is the guide. We stayed two days in Istanbul, and Levent provided us information which you cannot find anywhere on the Internet or in travel brochures. Mr. Ileri also made our domestic flight arrangements. Mr. Ileri is very resourceful and very friendly. If Mr. Ileri ever comes to London, we will ask him to spend a weekend with us. Thanks again Mr. Ileri.

Your villa was absolutely gorgeous and a perfect place to stay. Not to mention, Levent is a perfect renter as he catered to all our needs. I can't emphasize how beautiful the view is from the villa, absolutely stunning. We vacationed in Turkey in late September 2008 and the weather was ideal, sunny and warm everyday. Being next to the pool was very convenient; and at that time of the year, we had the pool to ourselves. The infinity pool is beautiful. The beach was a little bit of a walk, as it was steep hill down, however the water was simply wonderful to swim in. Not much of beach since you lay on lawn chairs, but definitely very comfortable. Traveling with 5 other women we felt very comfortable and were never hassled by any locals. On the contrary, everyone was super friendly to us. It was very easy to take a taxi back to our villa if we didn't want to wait for the shuttle bus and taking the dolmus to the other villages was not difficult to figure out. It is possible to walk to town if you miss the shuttle, but look in the book in the villa as we described a shortcut into town. It was a very quiet and relaxing vacation destination. When we wanted nightlife, we took the dolmus into Bodrum and were able to take it back to town around midnight. My friends and I enjoyed many nights and mornings on the veranda soaking up the view. It was definitely a trip of a lifetime, and I hope to get back to Turkey some day soon!

Lorganisation était superbe et tout le reste aussi. Je tiens aussi à remercier Kathy, qui est très gentille et très souriante, et surtout très disponible et serviable. Cest une vraie perle. Jai pris des photos de la Villa Sélim et de la Villa Bahce que nous avons visitée aussi. Jai pris les photos de Gundogan que je vais mettre sur le site de ma compagnie. Jai déjà des amis qui sont intéressés par la villa Bahce pour lannée prochaine au mois de juillet, je leur ai donné votre numéro de téléphone et votre adresse email. Ils vont vous contacter de ma part. Mon mari et mes enfants sont vraiment ravis. Nous avons passé dexcellentes vacances et nous gardons de très bons souvenirs.
