We were traveling with a group of 8 friends (4 couples in total) who are all avid travelers and wanted a place that was luxurious enough to feel like we were somewhere very special. Kaulana Naue was perfect! The house has a fantastic layout that offers both privacy (if you want) but also great common space with the most amazing views which you will never tire of commenting on how gorgeous they are!
The giant living room and kitchen overlook the back wall of sliding glass doors across the length of the house that views the constant waves crashing on the breakers.
While you are only a few steps to a beach (which is so secluded it feels private), you also have the option of laying on the deck or sitting in the hot tub with the ocean views. There is a nice back yard and ideal deck for gazing towards the ocean. I totally agree with another reviewer who talked about the lack of views from the bedrooms but trust me, that won't bother you or matter because you will always be on the back deck.
The bedrooms all feel private from one another which makes this a fantastic home for friends or an extended family getaway!
I can't recommend this house enough given the incredible views and great design.

This was our first shot at staying up in the north. Before this trip, we'd stay in Poipu and make a day trip here. For us, it was a perfect trip and Kaulana Naue was the perfect house. Total decompression mode for the crew. No need to go anywhere and really not sure why you'd want to. Fire up the bbq, have dinner out on the deck, and take it all in and enjoy. The beach is great, the setting is perfect, and so is the home. And that's probably the point. It really feels like home. It's perfectly outfitted, whether in the kitchen or on the beach. Every bedroom has its own full bath and tons of privacy. And the view and vibe in the family room and kitchen and deck area is pretty hard to beat. If you're looking at Haena as an option, big thumbs up for Kaulana Naue. Comfortable, classic, clean and cool. The area is really low key and mellow, but if you're headed to north Kauai you probably already know that, and this place is the perfect place to call home for your trip. We rarely got in the car which pretty much sums it all up.

We wanted a special place for our 35th anniversery. It had to be big enough for the whole family with Grandkids. Kaulana Naue was perfect! The house has everything (except the coffee grinder). It is the most well appointed kitchen of any house we have ever rented. The Hot Tub is nice after a day of hiking or surfing. But the topper is just out the back gate is an incredible beach which is almost only used by the residents on this street. Just around the corner is Tunnels. The location on Mapquest is not quite correct but better than where shown. There is a nice back yard and ideal deck for gazing towards the ocean. The Bedrooms don't have views but it doesn't matter because you will always be on the back deck. Lot's of celeb's live around that part of the island and you will feel like one while you are staying at Kaulana Naue. We'll be back!

We were fortunate enought to stay at Kaulana Naue in Haena this summer. The house is spectactular. The ocean front location is surpassed only by the incredible view, The open design spills onto a huge outdoor deck, complete with grill, hot tub, and large outdoor furniture. We ate almost every meal on the outside deck, enjoying perfect weather, and perfect sunsets.
The house has an incredible desgin, very open, huge rooms, oversized baths, large tubs, and a fantastic living / dining area that faces the ocean. (I could go on about the architecture of the ceiling beams for another paragraph or two.) Large sail fans quietly spin overhead.
As impressive as the house, is the collection of amenities that make you feel like home... tons of great books, movies, CDs, puzzles, games, snorkle gear... lounge chairs, and multiple large wooden deck chairs perfect for the grassy back yard or the beach. By the way, the deck overlooks the backyard, a wonderful oversized hammock, and a small hedge that gives you great privacy, but is still open to the ocean only steps away.
Kitchen is fully stocked, sub-zero fridge and freezer, every pot, pan, or utensil you could need, multiple serving trays and a large outdoor gas grill on the deck.
The manager of the property lives next door, and will attends to any / every need you may have. We all became friends with her, her husband, her kids, and even her dog (my son and the dog spent hours playing in the beach every day!) She is one of those rare enthusiastic and completely happy people who just make you feel good being in her presence.
I could go on and on...
The experience is amazing. We will definitetly be back. -

There are few places I wish I could stay forever...Kaulana Naue is one of them. From the warm greeting by Leila, to the champagne on our arrival,to the unparalleled sunsets and comfort of the home...I have never been more impressed. The home is so beautifully appointed, I wanted to smuggle furniture and bedding back with us. We had fresh fish, grilled on the lanai, watched amazing orange fire sunsets, and strolled on the endless sandy beach in front. If it weren't for grocery needs, I don't think we would have ever left. I even found a sunrise shell right in front! We will be back...I only wish it was sooner...

Bar none this is the most beautiful and most beautifully maintained home we have ever rented and we have rented many! You will see from the web site pictures how stunning the interior and the surrounding views are. What you are missing, is the sound of the surf and sea birds, the fragrance of the local flowers and salt air and the total peace and beauty of it all! The four bedrooms with their en-suite bath are each private getaways with unique views. The kitchen is a chef's dream with every utensil, serving piece, dish and bar ware that you could want. Inside and out are perfect for entertaining in style.
On top of all that, Leila is an excellent property manager. With her enthusiasm and assistance you will lack for nothing in this island paradise. This is not simply a rental but a much loved, beautifully decorated private home you will be privileged to stay in. -

We have been to Haena many times. We were married on the beach just up from Kaulana Naue in 2004. This trip was to celebrate Dad's 75th birthday and we couldn't have found a more perfect house. There was plenty of room for everyone and each bedroom had a full bath. The kitchen had enough room for everyone to cook together and the deck was a perfect setting to enjoy our meals. The North Shore is the place to be if you enjoy peaceful and private family time.

Kaulana Naue was perfect for my family. We like a place for outdoor
activity, away from crowds and honky tonk. We had a wonderful week of
togetherness. The children had fun all day every day without computer
games, TV (it was available),or the usual distractions. The scenery was the
best of our many trips to Hawaii, the ocean, in spite of a storm at sea, was
fun any time of day, surfing lessons led to several days of excitement even
for the 6 year olds. One of my requirements is a large dining table and we
enjoyed having dinner together every night except the one adult night out.
Leila's daughters baby sat! We played Tripoly around that table and sat
around with our morning coffee enjoying our time together. We all played
ball in the yard and took turns in the hammock. The house had lovely
bedrooms and baths and the kitchen lacked nothing except a coffee mill
which only was noticed because I bought whole bean coffee ( the blender
worked fine.) The only thing really needed is one or more hair dryers. The
one we found in the master bath did not work. Leila went out and bought
beach chairs and an umbrella for us when she found them missing. The
boogie boards at the house were a great hit and the abundance of towels
were much appreciated with 10 of us in and out of the ocean.
