Jungle Tree House with all the Comforts of Home

Left on 01/24/2013 for a stay in January 2013

We rent a lot of vacation homes and this one is one of the best. It's clean and comfortable with everything you could possibly need. The outdoor dining on the screened veranda was so enjoyable. We felt like we were staying in a jungle tree house. The home has some nice extra touches like boogie boards, beach chairs, beach towels, BBQ. The location is stunning, a beautiful short walk to the spectacular Tunnels Beach. A short drive to enchanting Hanalei. We did not want to leave. Would definitely try to rent this home again and again and again!

Every inch is like an exquisite piece of art

Left on 01/10/2013 for a stay in December 2013

I used to own a home on the Big Island. It was a masterpiece. Last year I had to sell it because my partner and I split up. I never thought I would feel that same sense of perfect peace, beauty and consciousness in a home again... until we went to Makana Lani.

Every inch of this house and land has been thoughtfully created with an intention of aesthetic beauty, extreme high quality, luxury, and function.

I loved noticing every inch and how it reflected the beauty and perfection of the palpable nature surrounding us. The owners thought of every detail that would create the most comfortable, enjoyable, playful, and gorgeous experience in each moment.

Now that we have returned we are planning our next visit. The location couldn't be more perfect for quiet getaway, sweet little stroll to the best beach in Kauai, and majestic views of the mountains that seem to hug and watch over the home.

I am so deeply grateful to the owners for working so hard to create with such mindfulness and attention to beauty and then to share it with us. Mahalo.

      Perfect rental house!

Left on 10/18/2012 for a stay in October 2012

This was the best rental house we ever stayed in! The location is great, its just a short walk from beautiful Tunnels beach and a 15-minute drive to Hanalei, which offers restaurants, grocery stores and a great farmers market. The house has a big kitchen with everything you could possibly need and we were able to cook all our meals at home. Loved the covered lanai and the fact that you have an outdoor shower to rinse off after coming home from the beach! All in all a perfect vacation! We would definitely rent again!

Beautiful location, beautiful and comfortable home.

Left on 09/13/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Situated on a quiet side road off the Kuhio Hwy.
      Nicely furnished and appointed.
Rental management was immediately responsive to our needs when we requested a second hair dryer.
Highlight was dining every evening on the screened-in lanai with Makana (Bali Hai) view.
Short easy walk to Tunnels for some of the best snorkeling and beach activities on Kauai.

Beautiful Home in a Beautiful Place

Left on 12/12/2011 for a stay in November 2011

This place was perfect for our trip. I loved the huge Lanai with the large dining table. There were plenty of extras to make our stay more comfortable (Beach toys, extra pillows and blankets, wi-fi, outdoor shower). The place was immaculate and completely screened in so we didn't have to worry about bugs. It really is only a couple minutes to tunnels beach which is amazing and connects to several other beaches. The area is really close to Bali Hai Zodiac Tours and the Kalalau Trail which were the highlights off our trip. The best thing about having a house is having a kitchen. The food in restaurants on the North Side of Kauai is pretty terrible, so having a kitchen was a must for us. Check in was a little tough until we realized that the door to the house was upstaris.

      Absolutely Perfect

Left on 12/09/2011 for a stay in October 2011

This was a dream trip come true for my wife's birthday. I had searched hi and low for a private, selcuded home that was located on the North Shore for the tropical weather, rugged landscapes and great beaches.

After arriving in Lihue, we enjoyed the hour and a half trip along the coast line and thru the mountainous terrain. The views were breathtaking to say the least. When we arrived we were so taken back by the natural beauty of the ocean, the rain forest and the moutains all combined in the quaint region of the North Shore. The home was completely surrounded by tropical gardens. Plants & trees blomming with flowers and fruits. The back drop was the begining of the Napali Cliffs with a grand waterfall. The Surf from tunnels beach could be heard in the back ground. The tropical smells from the surrounding forest were hypnotizing. The home... Absolutely Perfect. The surrounding garden encapsulated it creating a paradise. There was a canopy over the drive to allow for unloading rain or shine. Inside and out the place was immaculate! Excellent workmanship, super clean, and not one touch missing from the design. The owners obviously take great pride and had provided every possible thing one could need. The interior was large and roomly, well designed. All of the amnities were provided without missing a thing. This was a super comfortable retreat with an awsome Lani that was fully screened. Due to the numerous Windows and ceiling fan we were delighted to have enjoyed the constant trade winds both day and night.

Tunnels beach was a short and enjoyable walk away and the only word that could explain it is amazingly beautiful. The beach, ocean, volcanic rock, coral reef and mountains all in one vast landscape. A snorkeling and surfing paradise!!!

      Amazing

Left on 12/08/2011 for a stay in November 2011

We loved the Makana Lani house. It is beautiful, private and the house was so well stocked. We had good quick service leading up to our stay. The location was ideal. We loved the porch, the gardens, the island The only recommendation is to improve the directions to the house since the house number is not listed on the street and arriving at night was tricky. Thank you!

      lovely home by Tunnels

Left on 11/02/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Makana Lani is situated beautifully if you love to snorkel Tunnels, which we do, so we were thrilled to be able to walk such a short distance to our favorite beach. It is a fare distance from Honalei and services, but the end of the island is spectacular.

Lovely home with upscale amenities. Fantastic lani for dining. Sometime the road noise is more pronounced. but it isn't over the top by any means. The lock box posed challenges for us however, as it was very tempermental. Serene, clear and spacious, we enjoyed this home.

      Beautiful house, great location.

Left on 10/01/2010 for a stay in September 2010

My husband and I stayed at Makana Lani for our honeymoon in the summer of 2010. What a beautiful house! It was a little hard to find, we weren't able to find the house number on the signs on the street. The grounds are really pretty; coconut, papaya and banana trees surround the house, which is hidden mostly hidden from the street by trees and a large gate that you open and close when you come or go. It is clean, beautifully decorated and has modern appliances. Sheets, bath and beach towels are provided and there is a washer/dryer if you need it. It has a good-sized front porch and a large back porch with a big dining table, comfortable chairs and a hammock. It is a 2 (or less) minute walk to Tunnels Beach, which is great because parking for the beach is very limited. Other than that, though, you really do need a car to get anywhere. There is a restaurant about half a mile down the road in one direction and the beginning of the Na Pali coast hike is half a mile in the other direction. We weren't able to find a grill outside, which they do advertise. All in all, a really great rental house!
