HAIKU MAKAI VACATION APARTMENT RENTAL DESCRIPTION
Located on a quiet street on the ocean side of Hana Hwy in Haiku, the studios offer spectacular views of the ocean and Haleakala and are set on a beautiful and private two acres property with tropical fruit trees, plants and flowers for a true Hawaiian experience. Windsurfers will enjoy storage space for their gear as well as the view allowing them to check the days conditions from their living room.

We're located 25 minutes from the Maui Airport, close to the Ocean off the Road to Hana. It's a quiet,rural area. We have an acre fruit orchard that provides many types of tropical fruit to our guests and local markets. Guanabana,Lychee,Lilicoi,Mango,Tangelo,Oranges,Grapefruit,Lemon,Lime,Banana and more....
The North Shore of Maui is very rugged but this makes for some great hikes to seculded beaches,Hawaiian Ruins,Taro loi's, many waterfalls. The North Shore is great for exploring the Road to Hana and The Kaupo Areas in East Maui. Haleakala and it's crater is an easy drive from Haiku. We are a 10 minute drive from long,sandy beaches in Paia and World Famous Windsurfing,Kiteboarding,Surfing and great Snorkeling. Jaws, the famous Big Wave , is close to our property.

Left on 09/17/2012 for a stay in August 2012
A great location, lots of privacy, fully equipped Leeward Studio, and the owners were friendly, helpful and made sure we were supplied with fresh fruit from their orchard. We drove the entire island with day trips over our 2 weeks (last week of august, first week of September) picking and choosing our list of activities based on weather and the tides. Having a washer and dryer was fantastic. We bought the bulk of our groceries and all of our gas at Costco and the rest of our groceries at Mana Foods in Paia. Costco also sells great deals on helicopter tours, submarine tours, etc. Check these out. We selected the air Maui helicopter tour of West Maui and Moloka'i. The cost includes the fuel charge.
There were 2 small geckos living in the studio and they have a singing sound that entertained us.
We slept like babies every night with the fresh ocean air and very comfortable bed. .
Note: the road to this location is just after mile marker 15.5. on Hwy 36 (Hana Highway) as you come up the hill, on the left. -

I knew Max only through emails, but I couldn't imagine how beautiful person he was until there. We arrived late in the evening, tired, hungry...and under a shower, but Max are waiting for us, giving us a warm welcome. In the cottage we found fresh oranges and citrus (and a wonderful squeezer, too!), and Max and Tracey put in the fridge some stuffs to make a meal and a breakfast for the next morning. When we woke up...wow! What a beautiful view from the lanai! The cottage is beautiful, clean and very well maintained, cozy, with a full stocked kitchen. The location is simply perfect: 1 mile and the Road To Hana starts, near upcountry Maui and the Haleakala Park (not to be missed!), beaches just few miles away and away from the rush of all those tourists hotel...what ask for more? Pick up fruits, go back in the cottage, squeeze them and have a wonderful beverage...have a chat with Max on the Lanai...play ball with Buttercup...that's life!!! Surely we'll stay there again: Max is becomes a friend.
