Down to earth and set in the authentic Hawaii you knew existed, but had no idea how to find. If you’re looking for an affordable, non-touristy private home, you just found it.
Exceptionally private and clean, the high quality furnishings, linens and kitchen appliances are kept in like-new condition.
The cottage has loads of windows overlooking tropical plants, a heavily producing Haas Avocado tree is next to the kitchen window, coconut, breadfruit, hibiscus and heliconia are also plentiful.

Additional Location Information
Waipio Bay is a couple miles into the unofficial start of the famous Road to Hana, at the edge of the rainforest. Since Maui is small, and the resort areas are not centrally located, this private and “remote” area is ironically quite central for active people looking to experience the huge variety Maui has to offer.
This location is also a great choice for those who want privacy, serenity and a peaceful place to recharge since it is off the beaten tourist path, and at the end of a private road.

Camarillo CAJungle hideaway on the north shotre
Left on 04/14/2013 for a stay in April 2013
The house was smallish but manageable for 4 adults and 1 kid.; Very isolated, quiet, and lush. We loved the outside shower! The area was not too far a ride from Paia or Haiku. The roads to the house are fairly primitive but our rental car could navigate them no problem. The setting of the house was in the jungle but there were not any great trails we could find other than the roads. We didnt hike around for fear of bothering the neighbors or because of their fearsome looking dogs. House was well furnished. The beds were comfortable but the couches seemed very dusty. Kitchen was nice. Tv is very small for watching videos. Overall we really liked staying here, the peace and quiet and relaxing setting made up for the small complaints listed above. It was easy to drive a bit further down towards Hana, or to Haiku, Paia for something to do during the day. The price was very reasonable too. Highly recommended!

AlaskaGet away in the jungle!

Booking was easy. The cottage was amazing, the outdoor shower and hot tub was cool! It definately had the remote feeling and was a great quiet get away. Be prepared to see lots of bugs outside, you will be in the jungle! Avocado and jack fruit trees in your back yard. The only issue was the outdoor trash cans got knocked over by a local run away dog so there was some trash on the ground when we got there but it wasn't their fault and didn't really affect our enjoying our stay. Great kitchen and bed and the home was very well kept and clean inside.

We had a fantastic stay in our little home off the Road to Hana. Truly a great adventure for those not looking for the typical resort experience.
The home was as amazing deal and the tranquility and beauty of the property can't be beat. A great way to get away from it all and enjoy the local beauty of Maui.
Right near Twin Falls which is a must hike! Have breakfast in Haiku, drive the road to Hana and kick it on the beach in Paui. Also enjoyed watching the surfers at Jaws which was also close by. Must have dinner at Mama's and pizza at Flatbread in Paui.
The outdoor shower is a treat. Other than a power outage one night, the trip was flawless. We will most definitely be back!

San Francisco, CAMy boyfriend and I loved it!!!
Left on 11/12/2012 for a stay in October 2012
It was so beautiful, we felt like we were right in the rainforest, walking down the steps to the house, then looking around or looking out the windows, it was all green and lush. Â The avocado tree right in front of the kitchen window was fun to see also, even if they weren't ripe, but the guavas down the road sure were! Â The location was also great because we were pretty much on the road to Hana, so we could go swim under a waterfall on our way home from town, which also was not far. Â The fruit stand by the waterfall was great also.
The house itself was really nice, clean, beautiful floors, comfy bed. Â We were almost tempted to sleep in the extra room too, so we could wake up feeling even more so as if we were in the rain forest because of all the windows in that room, but we stayed in the main bed just so we don't use 2 sets of bedding... Â I was also really impressed by the kitchen, really spacious, open, excellent appliances, nice dishes and knife set, even a blender! Â we made smoothies with the fruit from the fruit stand.
I loved the outdoor shower, especially in the evening, when it would drizzle, or when all the stars were out. Â It was really nice.
I the washer/dryer was great too, since we went to a brazilian jiu jitsu class in Haiku during our stay, and it was great to be able to wash our uniforms.
Overall, a great experience, one of the favorite parts of our trip.
Thank You!!

brooklyn, nyi love this magic rain house!
Left on 09/28/2012 for a stay in March 2012
this is a great house up in the jungle in the rain. it's at the end of a windy dirt road surrounded by flowers and trees. it has one screened in rain bed (plus another sleeper if you had a kid.) and then one princess bed inside. has a nice sitting area and a fully stocked kitchen with spices and coffee. outside there is a giant avacado tree. we picked the avocados and ate them right from the skin.
i loved where it was, far away from the medocrity of turist towns, but close to the beautiful hills of macawao and the waterfalls at twin falls. go there! after just a ten minute hike you can swim in the most beautiful waterfall ever. it was magic.
red birds woke me up every morning with their songs. it was RaD.
plus there is a shower outside.

Revelstoke, BCComfortably rustic and fun cottage!
Left on 06/10/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We stayed in the Waipio Bay Cottage for 6 nights in april--my husband and I with our in-laws. The cottage was beautifully furnished and clean, and provided all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor shower and would say that was one of the highlights of the cottage! We did find find the location a little far from other places on the island, but we did have a bit of an idea that it would be rural. We also had a tricky time finding the cottage as the road you turn off on becomes dirt and is poorly marked. All in all, a great and fun experience!

I lost my son and then my husband almost five years ago. And March 16th lost my beloved Giant Schnauzer. My daughter has helped me thru some very rough places. We both needed to rest and heal and the Waipio Cottage was the perfect place. If it had been available for a month we would have stayed. We moved to another place (Lillikoi?)that wasn't as private an/or peaceful. Unfortunately we had to leave early due to a knee injury that requires surgery. As soon as I have healed we will return..of course we will plan ahead this time to stay longer. Thank you for restoring our peace of mind and health.
