Corinna, ME, United StatesA few adjustments
Left on 02/25/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We enjoyed our stay. The TV service was frustrating. A guide to tell what stations were on what channels would be helpful. Some times the picture would go out sound stayed on. Last few days no CNN, FOX, CNBC. Master bedroom bed squeaked with every movement. A King would be nicer. In kitchen light under micro out, two burners not flat, can opener and mixer did not work. A few adjustment would make this house the best. I was very impressed with the cleanliness .

Sour Lake, TX, United StatesA Pet-Friendly Success
Left on 04/17/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We found "The Grove" when searching for a pet-friendly house to rent on vacation. This house was between Orlando and Lakeland, as we wanted to both go to theme parks and the Sun'NFun Fly-In. It was great, the pool being a nice bonus. My family and our 8 pound Yorkie were well satisfied with the rental. We recommend this property & Florida Spirit highly.

Sour Lake, TX2nd House rental on vacation, just as good as the first
Left on 04/17/2012 for a stay in March 2012
Our vacations to Central Florida, as well as other places in the us, have involved various lodging arrangements: staying with family, camping in our RV, and hotels. We have twice rented a house for a week's vacation: once in Colorado for snow skiing, and now this one in Florida. The wife and I both agree, the house rentals beat the other options hands down (well, except for maybe cost).
I feel that I was lucky to find this property. First, we were looking for a pet friendly house, as we now have an 8 lb Yorkshire Terrier who goes many places with us. This does limit our hotel and rental options. There were just a few available in Central Florida that would allow pets by the time we could finalize the vacation. Then on top of that, this trip was going to be a split between theme parks in Orlando and going to the aviation gathering at the Sun 'N Fun fly-in at Lakeland Linder Regional airport. The Grove in Haines City proved to be just about perfect, located between the two locations. Also, the house wasn't available until Monday, March 26, which was perfect since we couldn't arrive until that day anyway. It obviously was meant to be.
This house was very nice, in a gated community. It was well maintained and in clean condition. The beds were a little firm, which I understand is a common situation with vacation rentals. Like most properties in this neighborhood, The Grove had a small pool enclosed in its own screen room. That really was a nice feature, even though it's been a long time since our children were pool kiddies. My adult son and daughter, as well as my wife and I, really did enjoy the evening relaxation the pool afforded. The only thing I would change if it were my house that I lived in, would be to add a hot tub.
The house had two master bedrooms, both with their own door onto the pool deck. Both master bedrooms had only a full size double bed, not queen or king size. One of the master bedrooms had a very large tub and a very large walk-in shower. The other master bedroom had an ada-compliant roll-in shower. The two smaller bedrooms had twin beds and shared a regular bathroom. The TV in the family room was only a tube-type TV, but that was OK. We didn't come 1000 miles to watch TV. My son did say that the TV from the family room soaked through the wall into his bedroom pretty easily. All the bedrooms had their own Tv's if that is important to you.
The Haines City area around the house had plenty of businesses you would need, such as grocery stores, pharmacies, gasoline stations, and restaurants. We thought Manny's Chop House and Sonny's BBQ were good, and close by. I don't think we would recommend the oyster bar restaurant over in nearby Lake alfred; we could be spoiled on seafood by the fantastic Cajun seafood over in Louisiana and East Texas.
The Disney parks were close enough for an easy commute, probably better traffic than if you stayed in Orlando or the Orlando side of Disney. A commute down to the fly-in at Lakeland Linder was a bit longer, very much the same distance as a drive back to Orlando International. If you were only going to the fly-in and not also dealing with family airline connections at Orlando or theme park days, then I would try to stay closer to Lakeland or in the Tampa/St. Pete area. But for a Disney vacation, this location was just fine.
The doggie is keeping his opinions to himself, but seemed to enjoy our returns to the house. He never had an accident, and the management company returned our pet deposit completely intact. If we repeat this trip in the future, this property or others like it managed by Florida Spirit will certainly be considered in our planning.
