The Longhouse Getaway is one that our family will return to stay at for sure. The hosts are friendly and go above and beyone to satisy your needs. The grounds are great, appealing and offer different places to sit and relax.
The accomodations are decorated with taste and offer all that you need for a comfortable and relaxing vacation.
The actual Longhouse is unigue and an amazing place to relax, read, have a glass of wine and all overlooking the most amazing view of the ocean and neighboring islands! The deck adjoining th Longhouse is the best offering both shade and sun! We never got tired of the fabulous view.
For our family, we just loved diving right off the dock into the water..what fun we had doing that! There was always the hottub waiting for us afterwards!
This is a lovely place to spend your vacation! -

If you're looking for a beautiful relaxing oceanfront - water access holiday on the Sunshine Coast, this holiday rental is perfect & so are the hosts, Adele & Willis! The property is extensive with meandering paths lined with various flowers & carvings that lead to unique sitting areas, decks with panoramic views of the sea with a large outdoor fireplace, a gazebo equipped with a hot tub, a vast & beautifully built big beamed open air common area , wharf on the water where diving in is pure bliss! Unlike other areas on the West Coast, you can actually swim comfortably on the Sunshine Coast, it has the warmth of a large lake.
We stayed in the 2 bedroom rental which was fully equipped with all our needs. We spent the week relaxing, fishing & out at sea. Willis & Adele set us up with our own fish cleaning table & we enjoyed laughs & stories back & forth...Adele is an amazing chef, we had the fortune of tasting some of her delights such as her decadent chocolate covered strawberries & homemade vegetarian pizza yummm!
We were also invited to join in on some amazing yoga sessions which some of us took part in! What a setting for Yoga!!!
There is also a message room for those who love to be pampered...
This property is located in a private setting yet has all the amenities nearby such as restaurants & a marina, parks & nearby villages. It is a short & well worth it 45 minute ferry ride to get to the Sunshine Coast from Vancouver.
There are also other rental units on the property including a new luxurious loft which is perfect for a couple's getaway retreat, as well there is a gazebo overlooking the ocean. We enjoyed sitting outside & watching some cruise ships pass by off in the distance, beautiful scenery, wildlife & peaceful serenity on the Sunshine Coast! In fact, we enjoyed our stay at the Longhouse Bay Getaway so much that we are returning again this summer for another week! -

From the moment we pulled up to this beautiful location, we felt at home. We were greeted immediately by Willis and adele and shown around the property. Afterwards we were seated on the patio with a glass of wine to enjoy the view of the ocean which would later provide us with a breathtaking sunset!! Our unit was clean, bright and kid-friendly. Anything we needed was provided for us. Felt like we were visiting friends rather than checking into a resort. Thanks for a wonderful time!!!

Longhouse Bay was the perfect "gateway" for our family (including our little dog)! As first time visitors of the Sunshine Coast, we couldn't have choosen a better place to spend our summer vacation. Most gorgeous view - especially sitting on the dock, wonderful friendly hosts, peaceful and quiet setting surrounded by flowers and nature... a perfect location for those wanting to spend a memorable and relaxing vacation. Adele and Willis, you have a great place. Thank you once again for having us and help us create great family memories and the most enjoyable time on the Coast. You never know what a vacation place might be like - and, we were pleasantly surprised! The grounds offer so many wonderful places to sit and relax! We enjoyed fishing leaving with our small boat every day and bringing home the catch! We dove in the beautiful water right off their dock a few times a day! and ah yes...the hot tub right afterwards! The beautiful Longhouse is an extraordinary room to relax in - accomodation itself is great..but most of all the hosts - Adele and Willis are the best! they are charming and know how to do what they can to make your stay pleasand and give you space when you want it! We must not forget Max..he is the best "knowing" dog and quite delightful! For sure this is a place to be enjoyed...finally there is a fabulous deck with a fireplace to enjoy the view. It is a place to go to for sure!

This is the most amazing place! Hidden away at the end of a track is an absolute gem of an eco lodge. The hosts adele and Willis were so friendly and hospitable and Max the dog is the most hospitable of all ( what a welcome he gives you and what an amazing dog !! ) . The room we stayed in was incredible - amazing wooden floors, beautifully carved worktops and the bedroom had a huge modern shower and en suite. It was the perfect match to the dramatic location you are staying in - eagles flying overhead, nature all around -all to be watched from the tranquility of the calming longhouse ! I just really liked the fact that the lodge had been lovingly constructed with local raw materials from the local surroundings. I can't speak highly enough of our stay here so much so that our friends staying round the corner in Rockwater cove were very jealous when they saw our room in the trees ! Thanks adele, Willis and Max for making our stay so enjoyable and relaxing !

We had a wonderful time. The one-bedroom was very spacious and the bed comfortable. We spent most of our time outside, however, cooking on the BBQ, sitting on the various decks and docks, and exploring the area. The property is amazing, with lots of nooks and crannies to discover. The hosts are friendly but not obtrusive.

Recently my niece (8), nephew (11), good friend and her adult son all visited from Ontario, and none had been to the Sunshine Coast or the Gulf Islands. As some plans were solid and others fluid, I hadn't confirmed a place for us to stay on the Sunshine Coast and was in a bit of a panic when I found Longhouse Bay Getaways had those two nights (mid-week) open.
It turned out to be the highlight of an already fantastic trip: the property is amazing, the hosts were gracious and very accommodating, the house is lovely, clean, and comfortable, and the shared space in the longhouse is a jewel. We adored the garden (especially when the kids disappeared into it for hours on end with the resident dog, Max - at this point we'd all been stuffed into our 2-bedroom Vancouver condo for over a week.) We also loved sitting outside and roasting marshmallows on the big deck, relaxing in the hot tub overlooking the bay, and wandering over to the next property to photograph the barnacled shells and purple starfish at low tide. In addition to all that, Adele is a skilled massage therapist so all three adults were able to book wonderful treatments with her in their quaint gazebo cottage. (Next time, if I have fewer people and a smaller budget, I may go back and rent just that space out on its own.) I'd love to go back. It's certainly what I hoped to be able to show my friends and family: the best of what the Sunshine Coast has to offer! -

Willis and adele greeted us and our dogs even though it was after 11pm. Our package included two massages which were wonderful right beside the water. The property is expansive with lots of places to explore. Suite was well appointed and very comfortable. Both us and our dogs hope to visit again.

For years we tried to find the perfect waterfront accommodations on the Sunshine Coast. We were looking for a property that offered nature at its best, where we could have a small boat and kayak at a dock at the backdoor of a clean, comfortable, and private cabin or suite. Well, we found that and so much more at The Longhouse Bay Get away in Secret Cove. The hosts, Willis and adele have set up a property that provides all that you could want in a waterfront experience. The accommodations are detached and private with all the amenities you could possibly require. The setting is many peaceful acres with deer at your doorstep and beautiful, naturally presented gardens to enjoy all around. It is also a pet friendly property, as adele is certified as a naturopathic/homeopathic practitioner for animals and humans and loves the interaction between them. Adele also offers many spa services including therapeutic massages and yoga. Willis is the ultimate property manager, always improving and adding features and services to the property for guests to enjoy.
The Longhouse Bay Get away may be classified as a B&B;, but there is so much "value added” that we feel it is more like a wholesome " retreat”. A place where you can enjoy the various adventures that this still super natural coast has to offer and hopefully leave feeling truly grounded in body and soul. -

The location was superb, and the cottage was very private and well equipped. Also it was very clean. The owners were very pleasant couple. It is probably good idea to bring your own food as there aren't many restaurants nearby. overall, we had wonderful stay and will definitely go back there again in future.

My husband and I spent a luxurious week at Willis and adele's rental suite in Halfmoon Bay. The suite was artfully and lovingly designed with attention to every detail and creature comfort. It is so spacious and open, with light streaming in the abundant windows and the view of the ocean always present -- that we had little reason to go outside.
But that would have been a mistake. It is only one stone's throw walk to a cozy private beach with a gorgeous view across the water. When we felt like a little company, we hung out with Willis and adele, who are just the best people, on their wood-stove warmed outer deck. An afternoon cocktail curled up on the couch, enclosed from the elements and yet enjoying the freshness of being outside -- it was just the thing.
Every aspect of our vacation was top notch. Our only problem was having to leave! -

What a great spot. The covered outdoor deck area was very comfortable and inviting. Willis and adele were great hosts allowing us to come and go as we wished. Adele is a great cook. View of the ocean was stunning and I enjoyed fishing off of the newly constructed dock. We would recomend this to anyone and plan to go back again if we travel the sunshine coast

I was just stunned when I got there. It turned out to be a beautiful private beachfront acreage resort and it was only for us!!
Heaven of haven - it was the place I've been looking for.
Felt like I found a jewel on the beach, I hope you too have that experience at the "Longhouse bay getaway".
It has luxurious large deck, hot tub, patio, outside fire place, gazebo, garden, swim platform and campfire place - all at oceanfront.
The cottage was clean and comfortable with nice modern furnishing and design.
The best part was 3 sided huge glass covered "Prospect Centre" - bar like, lounge like or living room like structure - overlooking finest ocean view in the coast.
In there, relaxed on the sofa, we enjoyed welcome cocktail in peace of mind.
Meeting kindly host, Willis and adele Horst, who made us feel at home away from home was another pleasure.
You won't get that much of beachfront luxury from anywhere at the price listed.
I will book again. Strongly recommended.

We loved our weekend away in quiet and peaceful surroundings of adele & Willis's ocean front property. The suite is comfortable with modern furnashings and a large sized kitchen & bar. The bedroom is quiet, with an amazing bed and oversized walk-in glass shower. The windows all look out over the ocean just a few meters from the home. Adele and Willis are also the friendliest of hosts going out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. It was a wonderful weekend, we loved it - we'll be back!
