Abbotsforda perfect place to spend a holiday
Left on 11/16/2011 for a stay in November 2011
We found the Halfmoon cabin by pure accident while looking for some nice cabin on the Sunshine Coast. While looking came accross this cabin and when I seen the pictures of it I just knew that this was it. I wanted some place nice to take my husband for his birthday as we always try to go some place we have not been.We where very much surprised when we got to the cabin to check in. We found a note welcoming us and then a beautiful vase of lily's welcoming us to the cabin. This was it everything was just perfect. It is close to everything but yet far enough away for complete solitude. We liked it so much we changed our plans for our 25th anniversary and booked the cabin for next year before we left. This is one place that we would recommend.

CalgaryA wonderfully relaxing and beautiful vacation home
Left on 10/12/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We've stayed at Hmbc for two consecutive years, and have thoroughly enjoyed our time there. For our family, it's ideal in providing a comfortable, quiet and natural vacation home that is private, well equipped and welcoming.
It's hard to overstate how beautiful the site and cabin are, with a gorgeous view of the ocean, surrounded by thick coastal forest, with day-long sun exposure on the spacious deck, and amazing sunset skies.
John is a gracious and thoughtful host, who is discreetly available to answer questions or provide guidance on local attractions, but who leaves his guests to themselves. John was so kind as to take care of a mis-returned DVD this past stay, when we returned the case without the disc which was left in the player at the cabin, not only returning the disc to the local video rental, but also taking care of the overdue fees for us...a more thoughtful and considerate host, we could not imagine.
We have taken the opportunity to recommend Hmbc to friends and family, and look forward to returning again. -

Left on 09/13/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Halfmoon Bay Cabin is an oasis of comfort. Every room in the Cabin is enriched by natures views whether it is the ocean lapping just below the lounge and deck or the leaves of the trees enveloping the bathroom windows as one is immersed in the effervescent bubbles of the jacuzzi - this is drown in nature sent luxury.
If this is not enough of an escape well there is more - meditative platforms, waterfalls, castles scattered around a bountiful garden packed with surprises.
John (the owner)has thought of everything - whether it be the home-made jam on arrival, or any desired kitchen utensil, piano and guitar available, fascinating books, games, children s toys, binoculars, kayaks or boats on the beach - it is all there - this is is home from home with polished West coast style.
For the more adventurous and a short drive away Johns woodland nirvana is an escape into a world where nature and contemplation can reach new heights.
There are many choices out there in accommodation for me though this was special - Johns sensitivity and thoughtfulness re a guests needs reach new heights in the delightful escape possible at Halfmoon Bay Cabin -

Burnaby BCAmazing Experience!
Left on 09/07/2011 for a stay in August 2011
This was our 5th visit to the cabin. As usual the attention to detail was fabulous. There was a gift of home made jam waiting for us on the kitchen table and the cabin was spotless and ready for our visit. During the day we thoroughly enjoyed lounging on the huge deck with a book, napping in the sun and watching the boats go by. In the evening we used the the kitchen to prepare our dinner or enjoyed a meal at one of the local restaurants. Family joined us for dinner one evening and my sister had a great time swimming and using the beach cabana that comes with the cabin. We have recommended the cabin to friends. Our family is impressed with the cabin and everything that comes with it. We have already booked our 6th visit!

EdmontonWanted to stay here forever!
Left on 08/03/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Our family spent an absolutely wonderful week at Halfmoon Bay Cabin. We traveled with our children, one 20yrs old and the other 16yrs, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. From sitting on the deck overlooking the grounds and the ocean, to exploring the area and the owners own property which included the beautiful Woodland Play Garden. Whether relaxing, hiking, biking or kayaking in the kayaks provided by John we had an excellent time. We found that all we had to do was come in unpack our luggage and settle in. All the comforts of home were there and more! Little touches impressed us - such as flying the flag from our province. Waking to the sound of the ocean waves and waterfall on the property was an extremely peaceful way to start each day. John is a very caring host, making us feel at home, ensuring that we did not want for anything. He informed us of local events that were happening so we could take them in and upon seeing that my son is a cyclist made sure that we had an excellent map of the area roads and trails. It was sad day when we had to depart from the cabin - if there hadn't been other rentals booked we would still be there. Cleanliness was topnotch and comfort in the cabin superb. The beds were super comfortable with lots of extra linens provided for bedding and washrooms. It was also great having a washer and dryer right there. The beach cabana was great for hanging out oceanside. The pictures that are depicted on the website are all accurate. Enjoying the jacuzzi tub and the outdoor shower are musts! We all look forward to returning to the comfortable cabin, beautiful location and enjoying John's wonderful hospitality!

What a fabulous vacation house this was. My husband and I took 2 of our friends from New Mexico with us, and we only wish we could return much more often. On the owner's recommendation, we had a private chef cook for us one night, which was absolutely divine. We spent rainy days enjoying the fireplace, the music, and the piano, while watching birds and listening to the rain. Sunny days were glorious, and the deck is to die for. Truly a magical place...don't miss this one.

My partner and I spent a weekend with his parents at Halfmoon Bay Cabin. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The rooms are spacious, the kitchen well-equipped, the deck has a gorgious view, the fireplace is huge, and the piano toppped off an amazing stay. We have already recommended this cabin to anyone we know heading to the coast.

This was the 3rd or 4th time we have stayed there. It is located in deep woods about 100 feet above the ocean. It has a great bathtub overlooking many large trees, very comfortable bed, large fireplace. beautiful deck, and full cooking facilities--inside and out. It is totally private--yet does have a good computer and phone system. The walking is great but to get to the water, you should enjoy hill climbing back. This is one of the finest places we have ever stayed.

VancouverPerfect Getaway at Halfmoon Bay Cabin
Left on 06/25/2011 for a stay in December 2010
My girlfriend and I spent New Year's 2010/2011 at Halfmoon Bay Cabin and it was easily one of the most beautiful and peaceful holidays that we have ever experienced. From a homemade jar of jam to welcome us to a premade fire to ensure our comfort, Dr. Richmond thought of every last detail to make our stay as comfortable and carefree as possible. The weather was sunny and gorgeous during our entire time there and the cold, crisp air made the enormous open, wood-burning fireplace all the more cozy and inviting. The cottage itself had everything that we could possibly have needed -- and more -- and the manicured grounds themselves had a time-dilating tranquility about them that melted away any and all of the stresses or worries that we might have had. Even in the middle of winter, we spent hours on the cabin's private little stretch of beach. The city has never seemed so close, yet so incredibly far away. It literally feels as though our trip has extended our life spans. We can't wait to go back in the summer!

Left on 06/23/2011 for a stay in April 2011
I have stayed at the Cabin twice. Once as a Romantic Getaway and the other as a Girls Getaway. The cabin is competely self contained. It has a beautiful view with a terrific deck and private beach access. The cabin is spacious and charming with many special touches. . As well, we hired Chef alan Barnes. Alan came to the cottage to cook and serve us his delicious creations. The Cabin is a magical place and is highly impressive.

Left on 03/26/2011 for a stay in September 2010
The entire family thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay. The kids were able to wander the property and delight in the castle and fountains throughout. The main cottage was fully stocked with everything you need including washer and dryer. The cabin's large full ocean view deck was a wonderful place to hang out. The deck has a covered and lit top of the line bbq that also has a sink and fridge ! Do not miss the experience of the heated outdoor shower on the deck (strategic shields for privacy in place :) ) . The owner's attention to detail was amazing. Meander down to the beach and you're spoiled with a fabulous direct beach access cabana that includes a bathroom, shower, fridge and all the the beach toys and chairs required. Needless to say we're looking forward to returning again !

Pompton Lakes, New Jersey USATranquil Wooded Retreat Overlooking the Sea
Left on 03/07/2011 for a stay in October 2010
From start to finish, we enjoyed our stay at Halfmoon Bay Cabin. As a matter of fact, we were lucky enought to be able to extend our stay because we found it so relaxing. We were looking for a spot to just chill...sit in front of a roaring fire, read a book...and, yet, someplace that was centrally located on the Sunshine Coast so we could enjoy sightseeing day trips. It turned out to be the perfect place. The master bedroom was very spacious and comfortable, with a master bath that included a very romantic jetted tub surrounded by windows that looked out over the wooded property. Some nights we decided to just stay in for dinner and the kitchen was modern and well-equipped. There's even an outdoor kitchen, on the deck, where you can grill steaks or some fresh, local fish. Speaking of the deck...we spent most nights out there relaxing with cocktails at sundown and watching the sunsets over the ocean. What a beautiful view, as you gaze through the towering pines, while hearing the sound of the waterfall on the property. After sunset, we'd head into the living room, build a nice fire and relax on the sofa in front of the fireplace. There's even an Ipod hookup, so you can listen to your favorite music on the sound system while you lounge fireside. Mornings found us walking down the hill to the seaside deck, where we'd have our coffee and stroll the pebbly beach...all the while enjoying only the sounds of birds and the gentle waves crashing on the beach. If you're looking for a getaway that's private, relaxing, yet conveniently located and not far from Vancouver, Halfmoon Bay Cabin is ideal. If we're ever in British Columbia again, we will be sure to contact John and organize our trip around the cabin's availability...it's that perfect!!!

Three of us wanted a place to getaway from our everyday lives; we found it and more in this wonderful cabin on the Sunshine Coast. We went in the fall and expected to stay indoors by the fire, but the sun shone and we explored the beach and we even were able to enjoy a glass of wine outside on the deck. The garden is amazing and the cabin is a perfect mix of luxurious details and homey touches.

Left on 02/24/2011 for a stay in April 2010
We were totally unprepared for the quality of experience at HMB Cabin! A handwritten note greeted us at the door, along with a jar of homemade jam on the kitchen table. Classical music was playing on the radio in the living room which is graced with a wood burning fireplace (wood neatly stacked), a grand piano, and a stunning view of the water. The rooms are exquisitely decorated and the bathrooms are very modern. We were amazed to see a jacuzzi tub in the ensuite bathroom! There is an outdoor kitchen in the large deck -- a very comfortable spot to sit with a glass of wine and watch the sun set.
